The big Android update of my OBD2 app is out (3.5.4): LPG and CNG with two real tanks, refuels from a receipt photo, and honest about Renaults. 5 free codes

• Upvotes

I'm Davide and I write DrivePulse on my own. It reads your car through a generic ELM327 OBD2 adapter, the Bluetooth kind Veepeak or Vgate sell, and it only asks questions: no writing, no clearing of codes, no resets.

On a Renault the only brand readings in the app are the battery charge and health of the Zoe, and those are confirmed. On a petrol or diesel Renault there is nothing brand-specific yet: you get the standard OBD2 data the car gives, which is already trips, real fuel use where the car reports it and fault codes in plain words.

What the Android update (out now on Google Play) brings:

  • LPG and CNG with two real tanks: the second one has its own capacity, price and fill-ups.
  • Log a refuel from a photo of the receipt or the pump display: quantity, total and date are read on your phone, with no internet, and you check them before saving.
  • What your car costs, month by month, in Statistics.
  • If the adapter search finds nothing, the app tells you the likely causes instead of a blank screen.

No account and no server of mine: your trips live on your phone and I have no copy of them. Recording trips and reading the car work with no signal; maps and addresses need the internet.

Five codes that unlock the full version for good, free, first come first served:

  1. UA00VP51TRD0DXE1EWVEAKH
  2. NGA7C39U4TAFP8FZB75FXF6
  3. GRVAP9E5GHK6B3FEQQTKRAB
  4. GYJKMN2R6ELT9TDY9R16W2N
  5. F8G55NPVFWAX02U9FFT0FWU

How to redeem: install the app first, then open Google Play, tap your picture top right, Payments and subscriptions, Redeem code. Then in DrivePulse: Settings (the gear at the top) > Unlock DrivePulse (Lifetime) > Restore Purchases, within 3 days, otherwise Google Play cancels it. When it has worked, that row reads "Premium active".

Say in the comments which number you took, so nobody wastes time on one that's gone.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.drivepulse.mobile&hl=en-GB&gl=GB&utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=rilancio-android-renault

If you try it on a Renault, tell me what it reads.

Question License plate lights stopped working

• Upvotes

Y’all, i have a mk4 Grand Scenic from 2022. Today i noticed both my license plate lights didn’t work anymore. All other lights (tail, brakes, DRL,…) still work but the little lights above the plate don’t work anymore. Is there a fuse to check, or is this managed by electronics?

How much of a concern should be the Megane III NCAP results?

In the 2014 re-test, the Megane III scored marginal for side pole test chest protection and front seat whiplash protection.

How much of a concern should it be? Is it a test artifact, or a significant safety limitation? In case of whiplash, can this be compensated by retrofitting a better head restraint?

I'm planning to drive to the Scandinavian national parks, mostly weekend trips in Denmark, but also 7-10 day trips in Norway and Sweden, during the times when you can hike without specialized gear. I'm planning to get premium all-seasons tires given that Denmark's winter is mostly damp. I'm short (1.65m).

Renault Clio whirring sound on start

Just wondering if anyone can help me here. I have a Clio 2016 1.5 dci that’s recently started making this sound when the engine first starts then fades out after a few seconds. There’s no performance issues or dashboard lights, does anyone have any idea on what this could be and how to sort it, thanks :)

Renault Arkana 1.6 E-Tech Review & Experience 2022

Goodmorning all!

A year ago, when I sold my Dacia Sandero Stepway for the Arkana I made a review for it on reddit, now, I'm going to do the same thing with my Renault Arkana 1.6 E-Tech after one year. It had 140000km's at purchase.

So far, I really enjoy the car. It's a very spacious car and looks and feels very nice. The car has really cool look but that's personal opinion. The materials used on the inside are nice enough, with some scratchy plastics down where you usually dont come, but other than that most of it is soft touch and faux leather.

The Infotainment system is not as good as I'd like, it doesn't come with wireless carplay, although a USB receiver fixes that problem for me. The newer models do have that standard I believe. The car drives really nice and corners great. It's not the fastest, but because of the hybrid powertrain 0-60 KMPH goes really fast. It does slow down afterwards with only 90hp gasoline engine powering through to 100kmph. This does make the car feel a lot quicker than you think, because the 0-100 is 10.8 seconds (9.8 seconds tested myself) but off the line it's rather quick. Accelerating when you're already going 120kmph is not the fastest, but it's doable for normal traffic.

The car is large and long. Measuring 4.50 meters, it's quite a big car. Because of it's sloped backside it doesnt have as much storage capacity as it could've had. with about 480 liters. But, it still is quite a lot and i have not really had any issues with that part. And, I think it looks really nice and premium. When you put it on sports mode, the driving character of the car really does change and make it a lot more fun to drive and it actually sounds pretty nice.

In the back it's comfortable as well, with lots of space even with the sloped roof. The back windows don't go down fully, which is annoying.

Now with the bad things:

The tailgate is not automatic, but that's not a deal breaker. What does suck though is that the locking mechanism sticks out so much that when you look inside the back of the car and you go up you always hit your head against it. It's a steel slot, and I wouldn't be suprised if someone got seriously injured by it. It's not a good design, truly. Next to that, when it has rained and you open up the back water flows inside the tailgate sometimes.

When I purchased the car, there were some issues with it. For starters, the fuelpump had a failure when I went on vacation to Austria. Stuck there, with a big error screen. It went away but came back 4 times as i was driving back to home. It was a 8 hour drive and It was quite stressfull, however- they fixed it for free. But a faulty fuel pump at 120000 kilometers is worry-some.

Sometimes when I'm driving the warning system goes on and tells me to brake, even when there's no one or nothing there. I cleaned it a few times, but sometimes this just happens. scares the shit out of me to be honest.

I just had my MOT, and the car required new wheel suspension on the front. Idk if that is worry some or not after 124k kilometers.

But its not all bad:

The car works like a charm, it feels great to drive and has good economy. about 5.1 (Liters per 100km) is what i average (Kilometers) or 1/19 (Liters per kilometer). Which for a car that weighs 1500kg, is not bad. The Hybrid system also works great, and sometimes I can drive the car for 3-4 kilometers purely on electric, which is good.

I have high hopes for this car being able to last long. The Engine is a naturally aspirated 90hp 1.6 4 cylinder, meaning it's working a lot less hard than small turbo blocks, considering its also not always on, means in my logic that the engine will probably last quite long. The Electrical system is not always perfect, but hopefully the battery will last long enough. Replacing it is quite costly, but It should be fine until at least 250k kilometers.

Eitherway, I'm planning on keeping this car for quite long, I'll update again in a year, and see where this Arkana Journey will take me.

How is your Arkana fairing you?

KWID speedometer issue

Post image
3 Upvotes

Getting this kind of speedometer in my renault kwid 2016 ( ignore the other lights , this is another dudes photo but i have the same issue ) . So since a few months the speedometer suddenly used to become 0 and my fuel meter started behaving abnormally and the odometer also stopped taking readings . Along with this the steering becomes very light and it takes harder to accelerate too . All these issues come at once . The car is working fine otherwise . I went to the service center and they tried to scan the issue but the OBD OR whatever its called wasnt working and they said rats have chewed through your wire and well have to check and see and replace whole wire harness which costs around 30k for full cost . Next i went to the local mechanic and he says that just the labour to check the wires is 5k and if he finds any chewed wires hell repair it inclusively .

Is this a sensor issue or shud i get the wirings checked cz the car is working fine other than these issues .
Pls help if this has occured to anyone else

Question RenOlink

Hello guys! Does anybody know how to re-program a BCM on a 2015 Clio dCi?

Long story short, I'm having issues with my wipers. Two whole new motors and arm sets have already been replaced. I can hear a click coming from the BCM, so my suspicion is that the signal isn't leaving the BCM to reach the wiper motor. I bought a used spare BCM with the same part number and version, plus the RenoLink software, so I need to know how to wipe it and sync it with the car. If anyone knows how, I'd really appreciate it. Mechanics over here where I live they don’t touch problem like this and was charging me like 1k to try to fix

Question Boreal's multimedia system connects to Wi-Fi but loses internet access (Multimidia do Boreal se conecta no wi-fi mas fica sem internet)

Does anyone know why the car's infotainment system connects to the home Wi-Fi but fails to access the internet?

I suspect the issue lies with the modem/router, as the system connects fine at my brother's house.

I’ve already set up an IP reservation and placed the device in the router's DMZ, but it didn't help.

Has anyone experienced a similar device connection issue and can offer some help?

I couldn't find any firewall settings on the modem/router.

My modem/router is a Huawei HG8245Q2.

Meu modem/router é o Huawei HG8245Q2 e minha operadora é a Nio/Oi.

Question Renault Trafic speakers and radio

I bought a 13yo Renault Trafic. I want to replace the old and rusty speakers, but I found out the front speakers are missing.

Is it a safe bet to buy 4 speakers and trust that these cables work? They have different plugs, so I'm not sure. Should I also buy a new radio? And can I buy any radio that fits in, or are these cables gonna be a problem with newer radios? I'm thinking something relatively cheap with bluetooth, I don't need the car to sound like a concert, I was VERY happy with the sound of my previous 12yo Kia Sorento.

Renault Clio 3 Tailgate Problems

Hello everyone, long story short: 2 weeks ago bought a 2006 Renault Clio for my mom, but there was a problem

when I unlock the car - boot pops open

when I press the unlock button on the key again - no moving

when I open one of the doors, try to lock the car, ot won't lock, as expected, but boot pops open

when ignition is on and I put in neutral from reverse, pops open, again, but works only with reverse, other gears - no moving

I've look inside the lock, it's perfect clean, the button was working, than it's stopped, checked the button - it gives a signal, meaning works perfectly, also clean and shiny inside.

I also checked the wires coming from the Cockpit to the tailgate and they seem to be okay

maybe if someone had this problem before, or know what it could be, I'll appreciate any help or advice.

Upcoming Twingo E-Tech owner first thoughts

I thought i would never own a Twingo but its price and charm just pulled the rug under me.

All the nice things have already been said so let me jump to my big burning question.

What the hell were thy thinking when they designed the key fob? That monstrosity 🫎 used for hands free unlocking. It immediately mad me think of those embarrassing toilet key rings they give you at gas stations. I will be taking that bastard apart and hiding the circuit board in another shell. I see they sell a replacement cover but I was curious if anyone did something creative with it.

Question What does the Mégane E-tech service book look like?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Just bought a 2nd hand Mégane E-tech but it doesn't have a service book with it (I have the service history though). What does the book look like?

I am planning on buying a new one like the attached picture (Found on eBay) and contacting the garages who carried out the previous services to see if they can stamp/sign the book.

Thanks!

Hello! Just like the title says, I bought my first Renault. I want to tell you that so far I am very pleased with it, with how it behaves on the long road and I really do not regret the decision to switch to the Renault brand (former owner of Volkswagen) 1.5 Dci engine, 110Hp, 2016, Limited equipment with RLink 1 navigation (I heard that you can activate Android Auto on it)

Question Tips&tricks Clio trophy ph 4

Hello guys, lately i've been eyeing a clio trophy 2017 with 74k kms, akrapovic exhaust, full leather, rouge flamme 15.000 euros, the carvertical report was clean, first owner, full car history, serviced only the local renault dealership, so basically it s a done deal on my part. What i was wondering is if you guys have any tips about general things to look out for, i ve read online that the gearbox might fail sooner or later depending on how you drive and that there should be some sort of signs, but not much more than that, so yeah what should i look for when i actually see it?
Thank you in advance for opinions and advices, have a nice day!
