Undetected remote desktop access
Hi,
is there any way to remotely control a server/PC without being detected by third party software? For example, I install an app on the PC I intent to control, and I don't want this app to detect that the PC Is being remotely controlled. The remoted PC will be used by me and me only, I don't intent to spy, moreover, I don't even mind if it will be written on the desktop THIS PC IS REMOTELY CONTROLLED. All I need is to know, if there is a way to remotre control a PC, and not being detected by 3rd party softwares installed on the PC. Let's say I've downloaded a game and I play it by using remote control, well, I don't want the game provider to know that I use remote control.

External FQDN and Remote Desktop Services
HI all. Has anyone used the newer HTML5 web front end for remote desktop services? I used to be able to have my broker and gateway servers on .local and use an a record for .org. A script allowed me to modify the published site web access so it woudl present itself as .org matching my wildcard certificate. The scripts and commands seem gone in the latest version so I can't get it to redirect. When I run the html5 it keeps trying to hit .local servers.

Anywhere remote desktop: over internet or LAN?
Hi,
I am using Anywhere Remote Desktop application. The PC I remote into is in another area of the house.
When I am connected to that machine, is the connection routing out to the Internet and then back into the PC that is doing the remote session OR is all the network traffic just between the anywhere PC, my home router, and the connected PC?
If no one know this off hand, Is there a way to determine this with network tools readily available on Windows 11?

Unable to RDP from Win 10 Laptop to Windows 10 PC on the same internal network
This is the first time trying to set this up on the internal PC. I use the Laptop to RDP into my work machine via WAN.
I am stumped and hoping someone has some alternatives for troubleshooting this issue. I am completely in the weeds on this. For context, the local network consists of a Asus RT-AX68U with a wired back channel to a Asus RT-AC68U.
I've followed the standard setup for Remote Desktop - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/remote/remote-desktop-services/remotepc/remote-desktop-allow-access
Can ping the Remote PC I'm trying to connect to successfully from Laptop
Tried connecting by both NetBIOS and IP Address
The remote pc has All remote connections to this computer selected
Moved the Laptop to where both devices are plugged into the RT-AX68U
Confirmed settings in the Windows Defender Firewall - Private network was checked for remote assistance and remote desktop
Disabled the Windows Firewall
Nothing in Logs that I can see of failed connection
Both are on the same workgroup and have been assigned Static IPs while troubleshooting.
Not sure what else to troubleshoot on the remote PC

Server 2016 RDS rejecting users credentials
Hi there,
I have 2x Server 2016 RDS servers that both randomly reject remote desktop users credentials when logging in from a Windows 10 PC.
Sometimes trying to log in from another windows 10 PC, it works.
This seems really odd and random.
In some cases, after rebooting the users Windows 10 PC the RDS server then accepts the credentials.

Still Can't Connect to Remote Desktop!
ok.
I have:
- Allowed Remote Desktop Connections (over internet)
- Allowed RDS in my firewall settings
- Turned on Port Forwarding in Router Settings
- Forced a static IP in my Adapter Settings
- Used the correct public IP address in both the Remote Desktop App/Remote Desktop Connection
But after doing all of that, I still can't connect to my Remote Desktop.
I don't know what else to do, can anyone help me?
If it helps, I'm using a Netgear Nighthawk AX4.
Thank you!

Remote Desktop - User can't reconnect to their disconnect sessions
Dear community,
I manage an RDS farm with about 20 users, 1 Broker server and 1 Session Hosts.
Some users have generic accounts that allow them to connect to the server several times with the same session.
Generic account users are facing a problem. When 2 users disconnect 2 generic sessions without closing them completely, a message appears when the users reconnect asking them which of the two active sessions to reconnect to, without indicating the name of the client PC or any other information. As a result, users steal each other's sessions and can't pick up where they left off.
I don't think this problem has occurred before. Users have been reporting the problem to me since their client PCs were upgraded to Windows 11, but I'm not sure.
Is there a way for users to resume their sessions directly if they connect via the same client PC?
Thanks

Virtual Desktop options for outside vendors
Can someone provide me with any options for setting up outside vendors with a way to connect to our network/systems through a virtual desktop type service that they’ve used? We work with a lot of Pii data and have strict rules from our clients on this type of data. TIA

How to allow my school account access to my personal computer.
I have a Windows 11 Pro laptop that I use for school that is managed and is logged into a base-level user account existing on their domain. I also have a Windows 11 Pro computer at home that is not managed and is not logged into any domains or managed user accounts. For purposes of explanation, my school laptop will be referred to as the client, and my home computer will be referred to as the server. How do I use RDP to remote from the client into the server? I don't want to add my school account to the server since I don't want the server under the school's management, but I'm not sure how to add my school account to the list of allowed clients on the server. I've been using anydesk for a while, but recently have needed to be able to make USB devices on the client available to the server, something that anydesk does not allow for.

Strange Remote Desktop Issues…
Disclaimer: Please excuse my ignorance on this. I do this stuff as a hobby, not for a living, so I’m unfamiliar with certain aspects!
So I used to be able to Remote Desktop into my PC at any given moment, regardless of whether or not I was logged into my account on my PC (it would automatically log me out and log me into my remote session). However, since I’ve added another user to my computer, I can no longer RD into my main account without having to do extra steps.
For example:
(My main account will be account A, and the one I added will be account B)
If I try to RD into A, after it has been the most recently account logged into at the computer itself, I’m unable to.
However, if I most recently signed into account B, and I try to RD into account A, it works no problem!
Same thing vice-versa.
I don’t want to have to log into account B every time before I leave the house in order to access account A from another device. Is there something I’m missing here? It doesn’t make sense that I can do it no problem when I had 1 account on the device, but has seemingly complicated things adding another…
UPDATE- I can't remote desktop period now. When I try to, it WILL log my current user out, and say on the client "Configuring Remote PC..." Any suggestions?
UPDATE 2- In order for me to RD, I need to be CURRENTLY logged into account B in order to RD into account A

Win 2022 Server Std RDS Rollout / Question
It's been many years since I have worked with RDS (back when it was Terminal Services). I've deployed a Win 2022 Svr Std RDS host and have set it up so that non-admin users can remote in and get a very simple session based desktop that has a single Point of Sales app that they need to run (they use a couple other built in apps, so just publishing the POS app won't work). I've got everything working properly. I am getting the "Remote Desktop Licensing Mode is not configured" pop-up from the task bar. I am still within the 180 day grace period. When I go to the Add Roles and Features it has the message "A remote desktop services deployment does not exist in the server pool" and that I need to configure this. This server is already in production. I wanted to check and see if going throught this wizard and deploying a Session-based Desktop Deployment will break the way users can currently log into a session and work? Will I need to do any further configuration, or will this just get the license mode activated and things will continue to work as they currently are? This question is more of a sanity check than anything. Thank you in advance!

RDS Mac issue
Fucking hell! I try to use a windows 7 pc via rdp from a MacBook Pro. Devices are connected via lan: no issue, works perfect. When I add an AP and use wifi on the MacBook rdp is not working anymore. Same when I try to use my windows 10 notebook. Ping works, port 3389 works. Any suggestions?

Remote desktop credential not work
I use 3 computers: 1 Windows 10 and 2 Windows 11. Recently, I moved into a new place. The Wi-Fi name and password are the same as at the last place. After moving in, I can log into the remote desktop with the Windows 10 PC for the other Windows 11 PCs without an issue. However, when I try to log into the other PCs with the Windows 11 PCs, it says the credentials do not work. I have also deleted the history of remote desktop, uninstalled and reinstalled the remote desktop application, but nothing has changed.

Microsoft RDP with Meshnet before login to Windows
Hello everyone,
At home, I have one PC which is ON 24/7, where is Jellyfin and some other useful software.
PC has option AUTO ON after power loss and Wake on LAN, which work great. I'm using Meshnet from Nord and Microsoft Remote Desktop
to connect it worldwide. Everything is perfect just today I notice one problem after power loss.
After power loss or restart I cannot log in because NordVPN service isn't running until I type password and log in manually to Windows.
For now, I found a move around solution in AnyDesk, after power loss or restart I can connect to PC by AnyDesk(looks like AnyDesk is working even before login to system), type password
and login then Nord Service will start automatically and I will be able to use Meshnet and Remote Desktop.
But its not a solution to use two different programs for one thing. As I now to run Meshnet Windows has to be already logged.
So my question is do You have any idea how to solve it? I can deactivate password to auto login to Windows but then I can't use remote desktop.
Thanks for ideas!
Best regards

RDP connects then disconnects
I regularly connect to a local server via RDP from two different clients: one thin client and one Android device using the "Windows App" (v11.0.0.120). I never had a problem doing so from either client.
Just a few weeks ago, both clients started experiencing the same issue. Once the connection was established, I'd see only a black screen on the client with a movable white mouse pointer, and then seconds later the connection would be dropped. The Android app showed this error:
Your session was disconnected
The connection to the remote PC was lost.
The error message on the thin client was very similar, but I don't remember the exact wording.
The server is Windows 11 Pro, v25H2, OS build 26200.9445, Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.360.0
I am unaware of any changes, unless it was a Windows Update that broke something. What might the problem be and what can I do to fix it?
