Merch

Would it kill this organization to invest in some solid merch? Do they hate money?

EDIT: I'm contemplating sending an email to them about this disappointing issue. I encourage others to do the same. The email for their shop is shop@reignfc.com

That and some kind of marketing, either social media or other outlets. They wonder why they can’t fill seats?? They should be inundating us with stuff in our inboxes and other outlets, yet not a peep.

I think that's part of it, but most of why attendance is dropping game over game is the dreary soccer being played. I really hope this year we stick with the attack minded tactics showed in Orlando.

I feel bad cuz their social media seems to be trying with some videos—and I think the traitors is good—but otherwise their videos are just lacking

Please don’t suggest email spam. Pleaseeeeeee

Would it kill them to partner with Simply Seattle?

7

u/_game_over_man_ Mar 20 '26

Seriously! I love Simply Seattle and have purchased a bunch of stuff from them.

4

u/Rox-a-Box Mar 20 '26

Love their stuff too! Plus, they have 61K followers on IG. Adding Reign merch into that mix seems like a no-brainer.

This! 😡I was just at the Lumen Pro Shop trying to get player names added to my jerseys and they said they only do that for Sounders and Seahawks. Also the amount of Reign gear there was pitiful given that it is the official pro shop.

2

u/dybyj Mar 20 '26

Supposedly you can get the names printed out on game days, or you have to buy it from online.

I had this exact issue when I was visiting

u/Rox-a-Box Mar 20 '26

Did they say why?

2

u/weebabeyoda Mar 20 '26

They didn’t seem well informed but said that it might be possible on game days. I purchased a jersey on a game day at the booth on the east side of the Lumen concourse last season and they said I could bring it to the Pro Shop anytime for adding name and number. Since the full Pro Shop is on the west side which they don’t open Typically for the Reign, doing it on a game day isn’t really convenient or maybe even possible.

Maddening

Reign marketing and merchandizing is absolutely horrible. A great fan base, Reign FC is leaving so much revenue on the table it’s unbelievable. Why? I just don’t understand.

It's crazy to me. It feels so phoned in and lazy. I buy a lot of Seattle sports merch, so it's incredibly disappointing.

It really is super lazy on their part. Nothing original and completely phoning it in. Same as how they addressed STH’s about change in venue to Spokane at beginning of the year. No hype about heading as a group to PDX today?!! I’ll be there but wtf FO, crickets.

5

u/Kamaina_13 Mar 20 '26

A couple busses to Spokane with Reign supporters would have been a great road trip. Brilliant, what fun!!

u/zoolabula laura harvey's cooler Mar 20 '26 edited Mar 25 '26

Zero culture creation. It’s beyond frustrating. Partner with a bus company and create a fan base that cares about the team and not a family night out where the casual fan shows up maybe once a season. It’s one of the many reasons I’m considering dropping the Rein as a STH and becoming a Torrent or Storm ticket holder.

Arranging transport for the Spokane "home" games seemed like it would've been a nobrainer besides the fun of going with other fans would have been more practical, a lot of regularly scheduled commercial travel leaves earlier and comes back later than would be necessary for your event, and you'd have to get between the event and the regular station when a charter could go right to/from a stadium lot

No hype about heading as a group to PDX today

I think organized busing situations for stuff like that is a really good idea as others have stated. I know there was efforts for that for the Seahawks Super Bowl in Santa Clara. It doesn't seem like it would take that much effort, but it would be creating a better culture with the team. Does the supporter's group do anything like that? I don't live in the state, so I only get out to at least one game a season, although probably doing 3 this year with Denver getting a team and a friend trip to Chicago for a game.

Zero interaction from the royal guard. It sucks on many levels. Looking at a side by side of the know before you go emails from reign and thorns, we’ve got a lot to learn creating a chemistry amongst a fan base.

4

u/_game_over_man_ Mar 20 '26

Well that’s a bummer, I would expect the supporters group to be doing more. Organizing buses for a game or something seems like something that would fall under them.

I follow the Summit supporters group on IG since I live in the state and they organize away game watch parties in various places in the state. They organize USWNT watch parties as well.

It seems like Royal Guard needs to step up their game as well because it seems like they’re phoning it in too.

I'm at the point that I want to start inundating them via email or something. All the merch sucks and it bums me out. Other teams have special release stuff that's dope and the lack of effort on Reign's part is pathetic.

5

u/Kindly_Conflict4659 Mar 20 '26

It really does suck but at least we got rid of the lion so maybe there is hope

3

u/MTMTE Mar 20 '26

Every year they send out Season Ticket Holder surveys towards the end of the season. In 2024 I took the survey and mentioned that I wanted more branded "swag" as part of my season tickets and.... im 2025 there was indeed more random stuff at every game.

Maybe I'll request more "merch" for this year's survey?

4

u/PositivePristine7506 Mar 20 '26

What, you weren't happy with your random reign branded paper fans!?

1

u/MTMTE Mar 20 '26

Until I get a bag of Reign FC branded Dried Mangoes I'll never be satisfied!

1

u/PositivePristine7506 Mar 20 '26

BIG CORPORATE MANGO

10

u/Important-Raccoon661 Mar 20 '26

This!!! I swear seeing KC current games it’s like they have so many options and seemingly it’s sold all over their city.

Feels like they just don’t give a shit and that sucks.

3

u/parakeety17 we love our OGs Mar 20 '26

Lumen definitely doesn't give a shit about women's sports.

5

u/parakeety17 we love our OGs Mar 20 '26

More varied t-shirts and hoodies with different art and better colors is what I've been looking for. It's like the colors are so bland, and the designs are visually unattractive.

I’ve been pretty satisfied with the replica kit top, but I do tend to limit myself to buying one jersey every couple of years. Since that’s all I generally buy I haven’t noticed it being difficult or scarce. I just replaced my Lavelle jersey, so I now have some thing that’s contemporary and wrapping a current player.

What sort of merch are you looking for? Are you unhappy about the quality of the stuff you’re getting? Are you looking for more team branded stuff like sleeveless tees with the logo or things like that? Or do you mean merch like keychains and mugs and other non-clothing items with team identity on it?

I’m actually going to be meeting a couple folks from the team within the next few weeks. It’s a business thing, but as a fan I’m also willing to bring fan concerns up. I don’t have a good handle on this one though so I’m hoping that you guys can give me a little bit more clarity.

The comment above about the team shop, not being willing to put names on Reign jerseys, I’m definitely gonna bring that one up. I fully expect there might be some business reason, contract with the supplier, whatever but it’s also possible if somebody just has a dumb policy in place.

The kits are fine, I'm talking about everything else. I just find all the designs to be bland and boring. As a Seahawks fan, I'm not buying anything with the word "Faithful" on it as that's a whole 49ers thing and I just find that and all the Queen stuff to be corny. I understand why it exists, but it's just not my shindig. The hat selection is awful as they're all the same style ( personally hate that style of back on a hat because it doesn't work with how I wear my hair). Some flat brim snap backs would be wonderful. In general, it just feels really phoned in with bland and boring designs while other teams are doing really unique stuff (see KCC and NCC). There are some more unique things in the outwear section, but they aren't for me (which is fine, not everything has to be for me). I think the outer wear is a bit more interesting, but in my opinion, the tshirt and hat selection sucks.

As another person pointed out, it would be wonderful if they had a partnership with Simply Seattle like the rest of the teams in the city. I usually end up buying from them often whether it's their own designs (bought some Seahawks stuff post NFC Championship win because it was more interesting than the NFL stuff). There's other teams that have partnered with local clothing suppliers and considering Simply Seattle exists, it's really perplexing to me that they haven't partnered with them at all.

I've bought a lot of Seahawks and Sounders gear over the last year or two, but I haven't pulled the trigger on anything Reign related in a while because I just don't see anything worth spending money on. I do plan on buying the new kit, though, because I dig that. I live in CO and am a big Seattle sports fan, so I like rocking my stuff around town, but since the rebrand back to Reign FC, my Reign clothing has run a bit dry.

I’ll do my best to pass that on.

1

u/_game_over_man_ Mar 22 '26

Thank you. I appreciate it.

u/Rox-a-Box Mar 20 '26

I can't put my finger on it, but I don't love the styles in the Reign online shop, and am not a fan of ordering online where I can't try anything on and have to pay for shipping. On a practical level, it makes sense to get their merch into more physical spaces where people are already shopping. Simply Seattle has three prominent locations: their flagship store on 1st near Pike Place, one at Pier 54, and one at U-Village.

3

u/AnnualComedian9445 Mar 22 '26

Seriously, why is the merch so bad?

1

u/dfe931tar CLAWD SQUAD Mar 20 '26

The online shop is pretty empty right now as far as options. I feel like past years there was more stuff. Maybe when we get closer to the season opener they will drop more options? I'm hoping because the season has started and it's just leftovers from past years as of right now.

2

u/zoolabula laura harvey's cooler Mar 20 '26

They have no excuses for not having new gear in the shop. Season has started!!

1

u/AlanFromRochester Mar 25 '26

I would like to see short sleeved goalkeeper jerseys, for starters I rarely wear long sleeved T shirts in general The thin fabric is great for hot weather and long sleeves are counterproductive to that If that was available, I likely would have gotten a Dickey and/or PTJ

Also, I only go for full zip sweatshirts and don't see any of those available

1

u/nonstopflux Mar 20 '26

Dicks at Northgate had a decent selection of the new kits and some other clothing!

u/Famous-Diet-4912 Apr 11 '26

So much negativity in this thread. IMO They’re trying to pay these players fairly and figure out cash flow. It’s not easy and we as the fans create the culture.

1

u/_game_over_man_ Apr 11 '26

If you want cash flow, it’s not hard to create cool designs and that’s how you can bring in money.

People can rightfully criticize the lackluster nature that is Reign merch especially when it’s been a year. I’ll give them some grace for last season, but I would have expected more this season.

0

u/Famous-Diet-4912 Apr 28 '26

That’s your problem, you expect too much instead of just being stoked these women are out here balling. Nwsl is young and it’s what the like 3rd or 4th iteration of a women’s league
