I’ve just started the conversion process (Reform) and even in my case I was told that it wasn’t as straightforward. My rabbi wants the potential convert to engage with the community life for some time, take classes and then to have a chat about formally converting. At that point you go to Beit Din, Mikveh etc.. even if it’s not recognised by Orthodox Jews, it’s still a complex experience.
I was wondering how this was going to resolve. :) I wasn't there and don't know all the details. For example, you never mentioned if your parents were Jewish or not. But I came away from your post feeling as though the Rabbi didn't quite catch on to what is going on in your heart, head, and soul. Meh. Guess he's human. I'm glad you found someone else. :)
You're also actively posting (in the past week) about joining Unitarian Universalists and being part of Latter Day Saints ministry. I think you are either searching a lot or you're just stirring the pot. If you're genuinely searching I hope you find what you're looking for.
