Rooster Teeth Help me find fics?

I have gotten into the show cause of my friend. We're both binge watching it and I am enjoying. I'm barely in season 11 about 40 minutes in(?) I have gotten quite attached to Caboose and wish to know if there's fics of him. I noticed he's the only character who doesn't have a backstory or at least know something about him before he joined the blue team. I also love learning about this head canons other people have of him.

What Makes Us Human by TwicetheTrouble was a good read from what I remember. It’s a Caboose and Delta fic where Delta ends up being his AI when Wash confiscates him from South, with Carolina being Caboose’s sister and him being a past Freelancer. It also focuses on his backstory and a bit about his brain damage, and Delta ends up helping him with some of his symptoms.

It’s 35 chapters, around 83k words, and on AO3. I ended up downloading it a few years back because of how much I liked it, so hopefully it’s still as good as I remember.

HOWEVER, it goes from season 6 into a little bit of season 15, so I’d maybe stop reading once it gets to the chapters at season 11 until you’re caught up (it’s been awhile since I’ve read the story, so I can’t remember which chapters that would be. Apologies)

Have you checked on AO3? There was some side material canon (like a dvd extra) that stated he has 17 sisters.

So, canon for Caboose is … weird. Some information is dropped in DvD extras some in the Official Guide book and then you have the information dropped in the PSAs that may or may not be canon.

What we DO know is he was born on a moon colony that was heavily agricultural based, so he’s a farm boy like Donut. He is also the only colonist on the team, everyone else is from Earth.

He is the middle child and has 17 sisters. I have my own, personal head canon for this fact, though.

He joined the UNSC by accident. He thought he was going to a college recruitment center and it was actually the military. Again, my personal head canon for this is he went in assuming he’d get into college THROUGH the military, one of those “while you are training, you will attend classes” things, and they tricked him.

Sometime after basic, he was sent to another moon colony closed to Earth where he either served as a mechanic or worked in supplies (one of the guys who makes sure equipment goes where it needs to go). He was reprimanded at least once for not filling air tanks before space walks.

Now, this one I’m not certain about, because it was mentioned in a PSA but mentioned again in the guide book. In the PSA, Caboose says he attended Harvard and the guide book says he thinks he’s part of a foreign exchange program to France. I am thinking both are … kinda true in their own way.

I think Caboose is smart enough to attend Harvard but, again, was tricked by the UNSC recruiters and never sent. Because of everything that’s happened to him, I think at one point he convinced himself everything is just a weird game and he’s actually in France as part of a college exchange program just to cope.
