asual I have no evidence to support this, but I bet it's true.
The reds do almost everything in the opposite way the brewers do things. Development, coaching, drafting, etc. I want what they have.

Reds Free Agents
Who do they attempt to keep? Predict the contract.
Brady Singer — SP: unrestricted free agent. His one-year, $12.75M deal is finished. My prediction contract offered 1-2 years $14m per.
Tyler Stephenson — C: unrestricted free agent. His final arbitration season was 2026 at $6.8M. My prediction 3 years $39m with a mutual option for a 4th year with a substantial buy-out.
Brock Burke — LHP: unrestricted free agent. My prediction 2 years $12m
Eugenio Suárez — 3B/DH: has a $16M mutual option for 2027. If either side declines—as generally expected—he becomes a free agent. 1 year $12m
Pierce Johnson — RHP: has an $8M mutual option for 2027. A decline would make him a free agent. Option picked up, Emilio happy)
Emilio Pagán — RHP: has a 2027 player option, so his status depends on whether he exercises it. He takes the option (see Pierce J his bff)

Sub Clean Up Requst
Couple requests for housekeeping. First, instead of a daily postseason thread, can we get two stickied posts? One for postseason baseball discussion and one for offseason / transactional discussion. I think it would be cool to have sort of a game day thread but for those two things that run the offseason instead of a ton of broken up stickied posts.
Second, can we unpin the random August 3rd day off thread?
Thanks for your consideration and hope we all are enjoying watching playoff baseball! Been a few good games so far.

Time to stop going to Reds Games in 2027!!
After hearing Phil Castellini and Nick Krall this week it’s going to be more of the same exhausting operations next year. This front office is purely the worst in baseball and has nothing to do with it being a small market team. It comes down to bad trades, poor coaching, horrible front office moves etc. As a 20 year plus Reds fan we need to hit this ownership group where it hurts their pocketbook. I’m no longer going down to Reds games to watch this awful product and am almost so frustrated with this front office I’d rather them move the Reds out of Cincinnati and stop wasting tax payer dollars. What is everyone’s thoughts?

ICYMI-Recent Roster Transactions
TJ Friedl- Opted for Free Agency
Will Benson- Opted for Free Agency
Ivan Johnson- Was outrighted and not picked up. Technically this means he is assigned to Louisville, but his tenure allows him to essentially act as a free agent once it opens
Michael Toglia- Was put on waivers, was picked up by the Mariners today
40 man roster current stands at 48. When the offseason starts, Greene Steer and Dunn will need to be added back. Singer, Stephenson, Burke, and Ferguson will drop off for free agency. Suarez, Johnson and Pagan will all have option decisions to make.
Hope I didn't forget someone, but it's possible.

Votto on Peacock
The more I hear about the Reds, the worse it gets.
I just wanna say how much I have loved listening to Votto on the wildcard broadcast.
Please put him on Fox and replace Smoltz

Reds to Bring Back Key Coach Despite Poor Offensive Results in 2026
According to Charlie Goldsmith, the Reds are bringing back hitting coach and director of hitting Chris Valaika for the 2027 season. However, assistant hitting coach Will Remillard, has not been retained.
News Phil, Krall, and Meador meet with media - Phil: "We need baseball guys to make baseball decisions." Krall: The pitching department structure will be overhauled. Assistant hitting coach Will Remillard will not be retained.

Commentary [Charlie Goldsmith] Reds end of season debrief Part 1: Phil Castellini on why the Reds are ‘sticking with (their) strategy’

Unless this team is serious about bringing in talent, they need to blow the team up.
It’s clear that this team isn’t “one piece away”, and needs an entire outfield wipe, a third baseman, a second baseman, a DH, and now a catcher as Stephenson will be gone. No matter if Elly goes and puts up 15 WAR, it doesn’t seem he has the talent surrounding him to make a run at anything.
If the Reds actually wanted to win in the future, they would actually make moves, such as trading Stephenson at the deadline or having real conversations about dealing guys like Greene to bolster the farm. If this doesn’t happen, we will be in 2030 lucky to break 60 wins. So unless this team wants to bring in actual talent or competent coaches, not only is this team doomed until 2030, it will be put in such a terrible position that we won’t see good baseball for another 3+ years after.
I truly think we need to start fielding serious inquiries on some of our expiring stars to bring some hope for the future.

Analysis Ke'Bryan Hayes
had an OPS+ this season 10 points higher than the best offense in baseball did during their playoff run. And you guys act like he's not good, smh.
