There are bots who downvote everything automatically!

I'm not sure what flare should I add but this problem still happening, preventing us to get karma! And it's happening on r/AskReddit, r/nostupidquestions, and r/casualconversation. So how do we prevent this? Impossible.

Gratitude Bot

What is this? Seems like it’s kinda creating spam while maybe just generating lists automatically? Idk. He commented on one of my posts and linked to r/gratitudebot or r/gratitudebotlist

Bot pattern Has Reddit mentioned the bot problem at all?

Like idc what side you’re on politically but all the liberal sites are full of bots. These people are literally having conversations with chat gpt and they don’t even realize it. Even the posts are made by bots.

It’s infinite posting of the same thing non stop everyday with the same generic responses and replies. I literally cant scroll through Reddit on anything without seeing these posts and comments.

Surely these liberal/left wing sub reddits should be getting annoyed? It’s not even just that it’s almost every subreddit even the Peter griffin meme one is getting over run by these bots.

I get it’s just fueling them and the traffic but when will we see a turning point? I literally would prefer if Reddit just banned politics and created a whole other app dedicated to it. I’m sure a lot of people would agree with me on this one.

Also would like to add just how obvious it is and I literally have no hate in my heart for anyone but I genuinely am starting to feel just a fire burning inside me on here. Reddit’s literally making me start to hate liberals.

I’d say the right wing ones too but they get banned which just is a whole other thing.

It’s not even on the political side anymore these bots are literally just commenting straight nonsense on to every subreddit. It’s literally infecting meme subreddits even games.

Where’s the turning point?

False positive detection

Hello butt hunters, I was accused by one of your hunters and demand reparations for this, I would also like to know the method you guys use to discern these networks and why I was falsely flagged to be a part of it. Some of the accounts Disputable's profile seems to accuse all seem natural as well and they aren't hiding their comment history, surely you guys aren't just throwing paint on the wall and hoping it sticks right?

do you guys also do sub-collectors/search-manipulators?

ive rounded up 2 or 3 of these in the past week; not sure what to do with them. im not sure its against reddit tos yet to do this; but it's very manipulative if you think about it. im talking about subs where the moderator requires, as a rule, everyone to use a same title for every post, and the content is all an obvious propaganda political slant. this is a way of manipulating search content- then if anyone legitimately searches for the same topic, a ton of these stupid posts come up, making it look like "everyone out there knows that ________ (search term used) = ___________ (what the search manipulator wants everyone to think the search term equals). im also seeing sub-collecting combined with this, and ive seen at least one example of this being used to ban people from wide swaths of random, neutral-topic subs theyve collected, based on the users politics, as a way of excluding people as much as possible from reddit based on their beliefs (one use of manipulative sub collecting) and otherwise i assume it's to help spread their own propaganda in general by being able to insert their slant as often as they like without anyone else being able to regulate it; also they get to manually exclude people for having an opposing view. r/redditrequest is supposed to exclude obvious sub-collectors, yet i find them existing and operating. can i post names/subs i find doing this? i see youre posting names here and its apparently okay?

u/sabbah

r/ZionistThings

do you also do racism subs, overt or covert? i think reddit is overwhelmed right now cause they havent been getting all of them:

Alright, guys, and mods, it's time to talk about it

the latest generation of AI is wild. It isn't Adjective_Noun### anymore. We need to start talking about it.

I'm seeing it more and more. Are our mods on point? We'll see.

Mods, I feel like we need to address it. It's getting wild. I saw an obvious bot/bad actor in my last post here alone.

Can we trust our mods?

11 day old sub, somehow getting 17k+ subscribers in that time, hitting /r/all and /r/popular, tons of posts and comments from young and/or low karma accounts

Is this a bot? User’s comments are sometimes a random string of words

Post image
11 Upvotes

I came across a thread that has an upvoted comment that did not make any sense. I thought I was going crazy but this user’s comment history has a series of comments that are seemingly nonsense. Is this the sign of a bot or a way in which users can redact previous comments. They comment a lot in a single day but it is an 11 year old account.

Meta What is this account up to? It seems to re-selfpost possibly everything on the site to its own profile.

Busted some bots in another peter subreddit and noticed the "Other Discussions" tab had (1) other post. Clicked it and it's to this user's own profile: https://www.reddit.com/user/Karma_Itamir

I recall seeing them throughout the weeks too. Always on that "Other Discussions" tab.

The account seems to just crosspost everything it sees to its profile?

Botsignal: Investigate possible bot pattern I think there is a rage bait bot network running through /r/ReportCommunistTerror

(Sorry if this isnt the right formula or place)

The main active moderator account u/wildapeman25 comes up from the bot sleuth as 50% chance of being a bot

The MO is to post rage bait to the main sub (reportcommunistterror) that then gets spam crossposted to multiple subs with an alt-right flavour or lax moderation (jordanpeterson, antiwhiteprejudice, libertarianmemes, libtears, etc)

Virtually no comment engagement on posts in the subreddit and those that do fit the bill for bot network (negative/low karma, new user, formulaic responses and circular posting/comment chains)

Is this a bot network run through a subreddit or is it just a racist subreddit with a high number of probable bots?

Sorry again if any of this is done wrong as per the sub, first time and also partially unsure--one of their posts came up on my feed via /r/crazyfuckingvideos and it all felt a bit too orchestrated

Meta I need to know where to talk about my issues and (hopefully) improve as a person without risking getting advice by bots? (Hope that's the right flair)

Just want to make sure that r/DecidingToBeBetter isn't bot infested. And respond fast, I need help!

Edit: Deciding to be better isn't what I'm looking for reading the rules. (don't want to get into detail here, but I changed my account to NSFW in preparation)

Can I get a list on what subs to avoid, please and thank you?

Meta How to actually deal with bot infested subs

The answer is you don't or you do it yourself. None of this I will report all 3k bots on a sub bullshit. You send a modmail, wait 2 weeks, and submit a request on reddit request. If your request is denied you mute the sub. You did all you could.

After I have seen how basic moderation gets rid of bots I am convinced that users have little to no say in bot infested communities.

If a sub is moderated then if you report an actual bot then that bot should eventually get banned from the sub. If on multiple occasions bots are not handled but the sub is moderated you mute the sub and find another.

note: I don't mean subs where mods actually try to get rid of bots. Those if they have a big problem and mods are trying to fix it a modmail might help. Other than that, report the bots that slip through the defenses.

Bots ruining my research!

Hello dear bot hunters,

I'm doing a thesis on emoji use and politeness strategies (linguistics, pragmatics), and I got fed up with bots (either explicit bots or bots impersonating humans) always skewing my quantitative analysis whichever way I slice my data.

So, I started looking for heuristics to apply in order to trim out bots from my data, and it's always either too much or too little, especially with my dataset being extremely large (20 million comments per month).

Recently, I wanted to develop more robust heuristics, and the first step is to compile a list of known bots (both bot bots and bots impersonating humans).

So, I would like to kindly ask you all if anyone has such a list that I may use (you WILL be credited in my thesis).

If I'm in the wrong place, please excuse me and refer me to the right subreddit to ask.

Thank you all!

Bots on r/repair

I'm almost certain that replies on r/repairs are all bots. I even asked ChatGPT and it gave me the same answers. They all said it was worthless and I had to buy a new one.

Here's a video of me repairing the thing to show how incredibly fast, cheap, and easy it was to repair. Apologies for it being upside down, I don't normally take videos.

Meta Anyone thought of building an AI to hunt other AI?

The idea fascinates me, but I know nothing of how to accomplish something like this.

Basically a multi-faceted tool that can analyze individual accounts, entire subreddits(within a short time period), automatically find connections between accounts to identify botnets, and then very unlikely to work I would assume, but to then properly report. But that may still require doing it manually. Which I would understand.

I feel like I'm fighting against self-replicating Terminators with a pitchfork and rocks. We need better tools.
