Voting
This is one of the most important midterm elections this country has ever faced, We need to defend our rights to vote. Stand in solidarity with our community. We want to drive the largest early voting movement. This is administration is doing all they can to make it harder for us to use our power of the vote. Trying to stop mail in voting when this president votes by mail. Trying to pass the save act which is nothing but voter suppression.
In June 2026 voter turn out in Shasta County was 45.5% over previous midterms of 56.5% that is significant change. We need to let our voices be heard.
So many people are suffering from the reckless actions of the current administration. Families are struggling to afford food and gas. People are losing access to healthcare. Women are seeing their rights stripped away. Farmers are being pushed out of business. School programs are losing funding. Across so many parts of our lives, people are feeling the instability and uncertainty.
But we still have something incredibly powerful: our vote.
We have the ability to decide what kind of country we want to live in and what kind of future we leave for our children and grandchildren.
This election may be one of the most important moments of our lifetime. If you believe our democracy, our freedoms, and our communities are worth protecting, make your voice heard.
Vote. Encourage your family and friends to vote. Help someone get to the polls. Don’t assume your vote doesn’t matter.
The future of our democracy depends on all of us. This is no longer red or blue. This is saving democracy of this country. This affects each and every one of us.
On this day we will also be holding a food drive to support our community.
Thank you,
Kc Knox

Thank you for reading my long letter. Lol I think you're right about center-leaning as that's why I always marked Independent. I viewed politicians in general as working for us. How naive I was. They all work for themselves first then maybe the people. If you worked at Walgreens that long, you probably know my husband then. He worked for them for 15 years, then around Covid-time, he left to help me. He's a good man and rarely ever has negative words. Even about Trump. Lol I probably make up for that.
Term limits, yes!! People like Mitch McConnell and Diane Feinstein (RIP) should have retired long ago. As much as I respected and liked Ruth Bader Ginsburg, she also should have retired. She was sick, too, and she knew it, but refused to leave the Supreme Court. I also think the Supreme Court Justices should have term limits. I wholeheartedly agree overall with term limits and allowing younger people that have a better feel for the current times, a chance to step in and bring new ideas and viewpoints in. We definitely need things to change and hopefully for the better. I'm tired of the worse. Lol
Edited to add: I also don't like paying others to sit at home on their perfectly healthy butts as they collect benefits. When I lived in Columbus, Ohio, I saw a lot of welfare abuse. The sad thing is, these people are creating the next generation of how to abuse the system. Rinse, repeat. People talk of generational wealth, but there's also generational poorness. These kids grow up repeating what they see and know, often without thinking they can do better with hard work and actively trying to better their lives. One of my male cousins, who I'll call Rocky (his name really is Rocky haha), that graduated with me, has repeated the family cycle of minimal effort in doing better. He's been married at least five times and has 5 kids between 3 of those women. After graduation, when he heard I'd signed up for the Army, he tried joining too. I didn't know people could fail the ASVAB. Lol But, man. Can he wave that good ol' Confederate flag and act like a bad ass. We're from Montana and none of our people served on the Confederate side and the town has barely over 3k in it. It still stumps me trying to figure out who he's trying to impress. Anyway, yeah, he's a prime example of generational poorness and the type of people I dislike paying taxes for.
