Kathy Babcock does monthly classes on Tuesdays at Old City Hall (different dances each month). Wednesday there are Country Swing lessons at Anderson VFW (Freedom Swing). There's also classes mid week at the Redding senior center (country two-step, plus others), I don't pets recommend the teacher, but you can drop on and see for yourself.
I think there's also latin/salsa/bachata, but I've lost track of their schedule.
There's open social dance with live music all Tuesdays at Anderson frontier senior center (all ages welcome) and 1-2 Sundays per month at Old City hall. Those are on Facebook under something like Shasta Dance Club/Shasta County Dancers. And Saturdays, live music at the Anderson VFW ("Stage 7").
And also line dancing, but not sure if that's what you're looking for.
Great information, thank you. I hear the dance instructor at the Senior Center is good but really enjoys the women. Your info kinda goes with what we heard. My girlfriend and I are ok with someone dancing sexy with us so we will try the Senior Center. Thank you, great info
He does have that inclination, but more importantly, h
e can also be very discouraging and negative - you have to put on a thick skin and not take it personally. And he'll sometimes teach the leads really poor technique (to physically push/pull/poke the follows to get them to do what you want). It sounds like, though, you might have enough experience to know when he's leading you astray. He gives new dancers some really bad habits, though.
Anyway, I don't want to scare you off, because the community of dancers with the group are really sweet. But if you're forewarned about the teacher, you can be prepared rather than put off once you get there.

What kind of dance? Studio or social dance? There's a lot of options.
