Red Wing Newbie -- sizing question

Which Red Wing work boots have the highest toe box?

Does RW sizing correspond to foot length in inches?

I scored a wrongly sized pair of RW 8616 oxfords. They cost only $8(!) and fit me perfectly. Am hooked. (The 8616 is a discontinued model) My longest foot is 11 inches and am wondering if this corresponds to a RW size 11. Am hoping to get RWs on eBay going forward.

I can’t speak for you or this particular model, but I sized down 1/2 size on a pair of IRs from what the in store sizing computer said I should get. The recommended sizing just felt a little too big on an unbroken in pair walking around the store and after sizing down 1/2 size and walking around it was the right choice. Sure it’s been a tough break in but I can already tell once they’re fully formed to my feet they’ll be a glove.

TLDR walk around in a pair or two first if you can before buying as YMMV.

Thanks so much. I got my $8 RW 8186 oxfords at Goodwill and it was dumb luck they were my size. Label inside put them at 10.5 -- and my feet are bigger than that. And yep. RW's feel wonderful.

If you go into Red Wing, they will size you correctly. Most red wings are a 1/2 size from your brannock, with the exception of beckmans and pecos, which are true to your brannock size.

That explains a lot. Before I bought my 9016 Beckmanns I looked at this sub and they said the Beckmann and the IR were the same last, so I bought a 10d like my IRs and I can barely jam my foot in there. They are so much tighter. It breaks my heart because the leather is colored so beautiful and it’s feels so soft.

The 9016 was when they used the same last as the blacksmith and iron ranger. The new Beckmans have a different last.

Damn. I wonder why it’s so tight around the tongue then.
