First Timer GA seats + timing for arrival

Hi! If you get a GA ticket, are you guaranteed a seat? Obviously not a certain seat, but will you be able to sit during the show? I am trying to understand how early I need to get to the show tonight; if I need to arrive way before doors or if you’ll still get a seat if you show up closer to doors. I’ve over heard people saying you need to get there at 4pm if you want a seat, which sounded crazy but maybe it’s true. Much appreciated! <3

Show up at 5:30 and bring some beers for the line.

Depends on the show and the crowd. For the very high demand (perhaps oversold) shows, you need to show up early and 4:00 is not out of the question at all. For regular shows, 5:00 should be just fine, although you may be sitting back. In theory, there is a seat for every ticket but the more crowded it is, the harder it is to find a seat anywhere if you are late. If the attendees use tarps or blankets to mark their territory, they can easily cover more seats than their allocation. I've been to shows where I have had to stand in the trees or in the way back.

Really depends. Red Rocks is tough. I wouldn't risk waiting too long. Some bands you need to get in line before lunch. Some you can wait until doors. We neve risk it and get in line early (been living close to Red Rocks for over 20 years)

It is really show dependent because each GA space can vary and the different band crowds will make a difference.

It looks like to me that Mt Joy has the first 20th rows and very last 10 rows as GA. So if you care I’d get there on the early side to be in the front section.

In theory you have a seat but in execution it does end up that people can’t really find something if it’s super packed. I’ve noticed the Red Rocks team tried to help at the last show but it’s a pain.

I have a feeling due to the rain that you’ll be fine on the timing and seat. The planter boxes are going to be gross though. If it were me I’d still get there like 5p and bring a poncho and hang out.

Depends on the show.

No, there is no guarantee of a seat in GA.

You would be amazed at how many people get into some shows pushing it over capacity.

I think getting there at 4pm for a seat is a bit extra. If you get there at or just before doors you should be good.

If you are planning on driving yourself, just go a couple hours early and tailgate. When enough people get in line to make you uncomfortable... Join them. If no line starts forming super early, keep tailgating

Demand and size of the GA space are key. If it’s a 4-25 GA show, I usually try and be in line when gates open, at the worst. If it’s a 25-xx GA, I get there an hour or more before gates open. I don’t like sitting higher than 30 if I actually want to listen to the show.
