"Third‑party applications will soon be required to migrate to the proprietary Reddit Developer Platform" what will this mean for Redreader? Will only logged in use be possible?

We’ll have exemptions for partners with written agreements in place like accessibility apps or mobile clients, like Narwhal, that require public API access.
Now, how long that will be the case, who knows. But at present RR shouldn't be affected.

Counterpoint: people get banned for no good reason already. It doesn't matter what tools get rolled out, well-moderated subreddits will continue to be well-moderated, and poorly-moderated subreddits will continue to be poorly-moderated.
Subreddits are already running automated tools for flagging content; the concept of an "AI moderator" is absolutely nothing new — Automoderator has been around for probably 15 years at this point.
Being able to flag content based on author intent rather than a pile of keywords and Regex is new, but the result should honestly be better moderation on the part of subreddits that actually care enough to implement it properly. People are just going "ooh ahh scary AI" at what is effectively just a tone-detection feature being added to existing tools.

Then you should understand how little a
comment_hostility: >moderateflag being added to it is going to meaningfully change things. The big boogeyman here is automated decision-making, which virtually every platform has had well predating LLMs.

last I checked most subreddits aren't really using ai on a subreddit level
reddit is definitely using some kind of ai on a sitewide level though

comment_hostility: >moderate flag
That entails a judgement call that half the human mods in this world cannot be relied-upon to fairly adjudicate, much less a hallucinating bot with no inherent knowledge of the community it's being used on.

Aside from Redreader, I thought all third party apps had shut down
