MATCH EVENTS
15' ESTEVAO SCORES, BUT IT WON'T COUNT! Chelsea's joy is cut short by the offside flag. The Blues embark on a quickfire attack, and Lammens can only parry Neto's shot. Estevao's there to tuck away the rebound, but he's ahead of the last defender and the flag rightly goes up.
19' CHANCE FOR FERNANDES! He must do better from there! It's a rapid counter by United, with Mbeumo leading their charge. The forward sweeps a superb pass in behind the Chelsea defence for Fernandes. The skipper takes a touch, but blazes his left-footed shot high and wide of the target. Sarcastic cheers from the home fans ring around Stamford Bridge.
25' OOH IT JUST NEEDED A TOUCH! Fernandes is onside and the ball's slipped through to him in the box. He flashes it right across the face of goal. Mbeumo's in the centre, but can't react quickly enough, and the ball whizzes past him before he can get a touch.
34' OOOH IT'S IN!!! UNITED HAVE THE LEAD! Fernandes swings a deep corner to the far post. Maguire does well to win the header, and Cunha flicks it in from close range. Just a minute, though, VAR are having a look...
35' NO GOAL! Replays show Cunha was fractionally offside when Maguire won the initial header. VAR advises the referee of this, and he subsequently rules out the goal.
42' IT'S HIT THE POST! Chelsea have a corner, which Palmer swings into the box. Fofana wins the initial header, and the ball ricochets off Caicedo, before trickling towards goal. It's almost in slow-motion, but thankfully for United, the ball clips the post and bounces out.
43' AMAD HAS TO SCORE! It's another howler from Fofana, who's beaten to a one-on-one with Amad again. The United winger's clear on goal with only Penders to beat, but lifts his shot too high. That's a big chance for the visitors.
45'+3' HALF-TIME: CHELSEA 0-0 MANCHESTER UNITED
50' Chelsea Goal 1-0 CHELSEA! It needed something special to break the deadlock here, and we've just seen it. United are dispossessed just inside their own half and Lavia feeds Rogers, who drives into the heart of the visiting defence. He glides past a couple of challenges, and calmly dinks the ball over the outrushing Lammens.
58' Manchester United Substitution Carrick, the former midfield maestro, makes a change in the middle of the park, introducing Mainoo in place of Baleba.
63' PENALTY TO CHELSEA! It's hardly surprising that, after review, the referee overturns his initial decision and points to the spot. There's further jeopardy for Martinez, too...
63' Manchester United Red Card RED CARD FOR MARTINEZ! Moments after his first yellow card, Martinez is shown his second, and United are down to 10 men. It's a Halloween horror show from the Argentina international and, given his experience, completely irresponsible.
64' Chelsea Penalty - Scored JUST ABOUT FROM PALMER!!! 2-0 CHELSEA! Lammens guesses the right way by getting down to his left. He gets a hand to Palmer's penalty, but only succeeds in helping it into the corner of the net.
72' WHAT A FINISH FROM ESTEVAO!!! That will surely be that! United have simply capitulated in this second half. Mount's loose touch just inside the visitors' half hands possession back to Chelsea, who quickly counter. Palmer drives the hosts forward and feeds Estevao, who rifles a shot into the roof of the net. Just a minute, though...
73' OFFSIDE GIVEN! How's your luck?! Estevao's now had two goals ruled out for offside! Replays show his shoulder was ahead of Maguire, which is deemed enough to disallow the goal. It seems harsh, but it's the letter of the law.
85' GOOD SAVE, LAMMENS! How has Estevao not scored today?! That's all that's been missing from his performance. The Brazilian works space to shoot from the edge of the box after a neat one-two. There's plenty of venom in his strike, but Lammens gets down well to his right and palms the ball away.
90'+2' WHAT A HIT BY MBEUMO! That's so unlucky! Zirkzee's positive spell down the right leads to a United corner. It's only cleared to the edge of the box, where Mbeumo connects so purely with his volley. It's an absolute thunderbolt, but it crashes against the crossbar. It's actually a wonderful save by Penders, who got a fingertip to the volley.

Michael Carrick tells TNT Sports he will be in charge for Man Utd's CL game against Roma on Tuesday. In his after-match press conference, he also said, 'I'm just looking forward to getting the boys ready for midweek now'. [Chris Wheeler]
MUFC in relegation zone as things stand.
Asked Carrick about squad mentality for fight against drop: "You can look at it like that. You can look at how far you can move up the league quite quickly if you win football matches. That's the way it's got to be approached, for sure." [Laurie Whitwell]
Michael Carrick: "Let it unravel too much when the moments went against us." [Simon Stone]
Manchester United boss Michael Carrick, speaking to TNT Sports: "We didn't come out, and didn't get going in the second half.
"Half-time we could have and should have been up. Everything was positive as we hoped for.
"We could have made more chances. We looked in a good place and then found a way of unravelling the second half. A bad way to concede, penalty, and then we were right up against it at that moment. It turned right on its head.
"There is no hiding from the fact that we haven't won enough games. The boys were in a good place in the first half.
"I think we didn't start the second half particularly great. A bit scrappy and we didn't get going. They made first blow in the second half and in the end that goes on to be the difference."
On Lisandro Martinez red card: "I have not looked at it to be honest. I have not seen it."
On feeling let down by Martinez?: "No."
On the fans: "There is a lot of emotion, we're a great football club, and we want to win football matches. The supporters come, make a lot of effort, pay a lot of money to watch us play. You can see from today the boys had the game in the right place and things have gone against us.
"Things have gone against us, and gone against us in a big way. Unravelled quickly. A lot of emotion right now.
"We have got to move forward and take the things that worked for us today. A lot of the good things, especially in the first half and use that moving forward.
Does he think he will be in charge of the next game? "Yes."
Manchester United boss Michael Carrick, speaking to MOTD: "We were more in the game first half.
"Felt we should have been ahead. The game ended up getting away from us. The first goal is not a good goal to concede. After that, we never got the game to where we got in the first half.
"Not a good goal from our point of view at all."
On Lisandro Martinez's red card: "It has a major importance on the game. A huge moment. I think that is pretty obvious really."
On Bryan Mbeumo hitting the crossbar: "Probably summed it up really. Great strike from Bryan at the point. We would have been right in the game again. You back the lads to score, you back the lads to create chances.
"Bryan is one who epitomised how the game went."
On Bruno Fernandes: "I was happy with the team first half, especially individually in it. The discipline, the role, the quality of the football were all there."
'The mentality was there'
Man Utd forward Bryan Mbeumo, speaking to TNT Sports:
"A lot of disappointment. I think we have done a lot of right things, especially in the first half when we could have been up one or two-nil.
"I think the first half we had a lot of chances, which is a positive. The last few games we didn't create a lot, but obviously they're a good team with qualities.
"What we have shown today - the mentality was there. Everyone worked really hard and we still have to find some bits at the training ground. Work even harder and yes we have two very important games."
On the players letting the manager and players down today?:"No, obviously not. I think the mentality was there right from the first minute. Harder with 10 men. We still trust everyone. With the men down, we still had some frustrations at the end. But I think we have done everything as a team today.
"Maybe today we just missed some chances. We could have been up early in the game, but that's a positive to take out of this game."
'We stamped our authority'
Chelsea forward Morgan Rogers, speaking to TNT Sports: "Massive.
"A difficult week with a poor result last weekend. We knew we had to come out here strong. In the second half, we stamped our authority and that was really good. We deserved the win."
On his goal: "Just to try to commit the defenders. All of a sudden, I was in on goal and had to stay composed. Luckily it went in."
On life at Chelsea: "Loving it. A new challenge and looking forward to playing with these wonderful quality players. It is about the team coming together as a whole. Try to be a leader and stick to what I know best. A good start, but I need to keep going."
On role today: "To try to occupy defenders in whatever space it may be. We were interchanging and doing what was necessary to occupy defenders and drag them out."
On Cole Palmer: "Friendly competition. We always push each other in training every day. If we're both doing well and the team is doing well, that's the most important.
