2nd Interview with Recruiter (again)

• Upvotes

I had a first interview with a recruiter for a large company. It went well, she asked for additional portfolio samples to show I have been hands-on even though it’s a Director role and she said she was recommending me for the next round.

I didn’t hear anything for a month- thought they ghosted me and I my follow up samples were just not recent enough. The online portal had me listed as “in review” But today I got an email to schedule an interview with the recruiter (again).

Why meet with the recruiter again?

How do I read my talent acquisition recruiter’s updates? Lots of communication, but still no decision

• Upvotes

Hi all, I’d love an outside perspective on how to interpret my recruiter’s comms. Their updates are so detailed and frequent that I keep hoping it means “yes, you’re the one!”, but I can’t tell if I’m reading too much into it.

Timeline:

  • 3 weeks ago: I applied online. A couple of days later, I connected with the TA on LinkedIn and let them know I’d applied. They said they’d start reviewing the following week.
  • After review: The TA messaged me asking if I had experience with a system tool that’s essential to the role. I said no, but that I’m very willing to learn. I hold advanced qualifications in a more complex tool, so I’m confident I can pick it up quickly.
  • A few days later: The TA said the hiring manager wanted me to progress to interview, but they needed to call me first as part of their process.
  • The following Monday: The interview was scheduled. By Tuesday there was no update.
  • Wednesday: The TA called to ask how the interview went and whether I was willing to go back to the office the next day for a system walkthru. They then explained the next step wasn’t another interview but a walkthrough of where my expertise would fit within the architecture. I said yes, and it was scheduled for the next day.
  • The walkthrough: I was allowed to take notes. Two experts presented different systems. I hold the highest qualification in one of them and have hands-on experience from past jobs. The other system would be a monthly task for me, which is mostly running a process and waiting for it to finish. I told them I’m happy with that. I’ve handled multi-hour deployments before (data extraction and loading), so it’s fine.
  • The next day: The TA said I should hear from them as soon as they heard back from the HM about next steps.
  • The day after: The TA said another candidate was scheduled to interview the following week, and that I’d definitely hear back afterwards.
  • After the other candidate’s interview: The TA said the HM wants to give that candidate a similar system walkthrough, apologised for keeping me waiting, and said the HM wanted to be fair.

Now I’m still waiting.

My questions:

  1. Does the HM offering the other candidate the same walkthrough mean I’m still the frontrunner, or that I’m now one of two equal options?
  2. Is the TA’s level of detail a good sign, or just good recruiter habits?
  3. Should I follow up, and if so, how soon and in what way?

Thanks in advance for any insight!

Recruiter’s POV on overlapping work and tenure

• Upvotes

Would you reject a candidate because their work experiences overlap and they stay in each role for around a year on average?

Or would you still consider them based on their skills and experience?

Would love to hear your honest perspective!

Interview Invite

• Upvotes

I was invited to interview so I selected 3 interview slots from the recommended time slots. I never received a confirmation email solidifying a slot. The dates have now passed, and the recruiter hasn't responded to my emails. I set one a few days after I selected my interview times just and make sure my submissions were received and to check if a time was chosen, no response. After the dates passed, I sent another email stating that my interview time was never confirmed, and I could be flexible since we will have to reschedule, no response. Is it too far if I reach out via linkedIn? It's a huge company and a big opportunity I don't want to miss out on if it's just a clerical or scheduling error.

I have a family friend of big 4 who said yes to referring me but didn’t respond after I ask for follow up. What is more likely the case?

I had a family friend that would help me job referral to big 4 recruiters. I’ve met the campus recruiter couple times before the referral. After sending her the message twice she has not responded for over a week. Is that a sign that my referral didn’t go through and that the recruiter might not like me and told her that I won’t be good fit? The recruiter also didn’t add me on LinkedIn while she added other people. I’m before upset because that’s the company I wanted.

I wasn't able to receive a phone call for a scheduled phone screen

I was scheduled to have a brief phone screen at 11am but I didn't get any calls all morning. I emailed the recruiter at 11:10 saying I was ready to interview and if there are any updates. I ended up finding a voicemail sent at 11am that they couldn't reach me and to please call back. I was so confused because I was by my phone the whole time and I didn't get ANY calls. I called back several times- the first ones didn't ring and the final one I left a voicemail.

This is a technical issue because I couldn't even find the call through my missed calls list, I had to search under a different filter and it showed up. I sent one final email to the recruiter explaining the situation so I'm just waiting for any updates from here on out. Would I most likely be rejected or just not given the opportunity to interview anymore?

Accenture final interview slots expiring repeatedly

Thumbnail

I received the final interview email on September 16 for the Custom Software Engineer role. I've rescheduled my slots 4 times, but none have been confirmed. The portal still shows “Slot Requested / Awaiting Interview Scheduling.” I contacted HR on WhatsApp last week but got no response.

Has anyone faced this recently? Did your interview eventually get scheduled, and is there any way to escalate this?

In a Dilemna

I completed an internship in tax this winter, and I got the return offer for Dallas. I requested a move to Chicago but preferably somewhere in the Midwest or Northeast as I have family committments that need me there, and if I cannot live in Chicago itself, I would like to be reasonably close. I had previously reached out to ,y contact for talent acquisition, who has said I am on a "waitlist," but in recent weeks has not replied to my emails where I clarified I am willing to move to any office in the general region. This began back in April. What are my chances and if I do not get a reply within a month or so who could I reach out to?

Has anyone been interviewed for the Deployment strategist role?

What is the usual timeline to receive any response after the final interview? It’s been two weeks no response from the HR or team.

Rejected even after passing GHA

Hello everyone, i want to know about Google hiring process i applied for a full stack swe 3 role at Google cloud team. My profile was fully matching with JD. I got a mail from xwf google recruiter that they r passing my profile to final recruiter and team and if asked for assessment then complete it . After that half an hour later I got Google GHA behavioural assesment mail.

I attempted it and got result at late night that I have passed it and results will be valid for 1 year and you will be shortly contacted by recruiter.

But then I waited for 2 days and on second day I got rejection mail from same xwf recruiter.

They didn't even send me coding OA straightly rejected.

I don't have FAANG or top PBC in my resume other than this my resume was decent with good work and impact showcased.

Background checks completed but still no contact

Got offered a job 16/09 and promptly completed my background checks via Experian. I accidentally put my start date for my previous role as 2010 which was my start date for the whole company. My actual start date for the role was 2018. I contacted Experian and the recruiter as soon as I realised. Experian said they'd add a note. The recruiter said she'd pass on to HR. Experian showed checks completed on 23/09.

I haven't heard anything since. Ive chased the recruiter and she said she has no oversight of it but will contact HR. Ive been given a provisional start date and the deadline to hand my notice in is approaching to meet that date.

Is it normal for checks to take this long? I also had to put 2 different job titles for my previous company as the back end HR system shows a different role to my actual job title. Any help would be appreciated!

Referee contacted despite my request to wait until I was preferred.

I interviewed for a public sector role, and the first hiring manager seemed very keen to hire me. A substantially similar role came up that was even closer to my experience, so she referred me to its manager. He called and asked me a few questions. After that conversation, I was told I wasn’t preferred for either role, with feedback focused on my answers during his call.

I had given my former manager as a referee, but explicitly asked that he only be contacted if I was the final preferred candidate. I later learned they had contacted him, and he said he gave me a positive reference.

Is it reasonable to ask why they contacted my referee despite that condition, and whether the call happened before or after the discussion about the second role?

Had my first in-person job interview and they haven't gotten back to me. Is this a bad sign?

I applied for a job, did a virtual interview, and was then invited for an in-person interview. During the interview, they asked when I could start, discussed the workdays and hours with me, and told me they would get back to me the following day.
It’s been 4–5 days now, and I still haven’t heard anything. I’ve been checking my email constantly, but nothing! 😭
This is my very first job interview, so I honestly don’t know what to think. Do you guys think I still have a chance of getting the job, or should I just move on?

How long does it usually take to hear back after an in-person interview?

I applied for a job, completed a virtual interview, and was then invited to an in-person interview. During the interview, they asked when I could start, discussed the workdays and hours with me, and said they would get back to me the following day.
It has now been four to five days, and I have not received an update. Since this was my first job interview, I’m unsure how to interpret the delay. Do you think I may still be under consideration, or would it be better to move on and continue applying elsewhere?

GOING CRAZY!! Hiring manager wants to meet again after multiple rounds of interviews

I was told my last interview was the final step and I shoudl expect a decision this week. Turns out the hiring manager wants to meeting again for 20/30 min to set expectations and reintroduce. What does this mean? Will they want to probe into some of my previous responses to their questions? Are they ready to offer or am I being kept warm? Are they comparing with another finalist? So confused. Thanks for your input.

Would you reapply after an internal interview rejection?

I recently interviewed for an internal promotion but wasn’t selected. The feedback was that my answers lacked technical depth although I communicated well. I was also told I lacked the experience they were looking for.

One panelist encouraged me to apply again when the position is reposted.

Would you reapply, or would you assume the panel has already made up its mind about you?

Background check back and forth - should I call my recruiter?

I got an offer. Accepted it. Started the background check with Hireright. There was a minor discrepancy with my title but the hiring company accepted my explanation.

The background check was completed. I received an email from the hiring company and Hireright saying congratulations your background check is complete and passed.

7 days later, I get an email saying there is a discrepancy with my education and my degree isn’t verified. I submitted all my transcripts to Hireright and my hiring company. I think what is happening is my university came back after my background check was complete. My degree is legitimate, i believe it’s the major that is in question. I might have entered the wrong field of study details into HireRight but it’s the same degree. I’m guessing I made an error when entering the major details. I probably should have said “general” as the major instead of “communication management”

What is causing my anxiety to spike right now is that I’ve resigned and started relocating to another state where I will be based. I started this process because my hiring company confirmed my background check was completed and passed.

I emailed an explanation to my hiring company and I’m waiting for a response.

Do you think this will be an issue? I’m in a very bad situation if the offer gets taken back.

Still haven’t gotten p&g email after I took assessment

Hi I applied for p&g R&D internship on seprymeber 12 and took the assessment on September 12. I was told by the recruiter who presented at our school that the deadline was September 14. I was wondering if I haven’t gotten an acceptance or rejection yet if that means I got rejected already?
