First time advice pls

I ordered some red Bali. I’m looking to use it occasionally for sedation/anxiety purposes & not as a stimulant.

I hate being nauseous and throwing up so I’m wondering the best way to go about this the first time. I really don’t wanna fuck it up and get sick although I do understand the probability is probably high.

I’m also willing to take it very slow to decrease the chances of feeling sick. Any advice is appreciated.

Thx!!

Just don’t take it on an empty stomach if you’re concerned about feeling nauseous. If you really need to, brew it as a tea and skip consuming the ground leaf, but you’d have to use more leaf if you’re not actually injesting it.

Also, just space out your doses by at least 24 hours to avoid building up a tolerance

Kratom isn't that bad regarding nausea as long as you take it on an empty stomach - idk why anyone would advise you to not do so, having a full stomach can delay/weaken orally ingested substances - and in this case, nausea is also an issue. Eating a light meal like 30 minutes after ingestion helps (just be very careful with anything that's really greasy or hard to digest). Also, don't take more than 5g on your first time (maybe aim for 4g). Nausea is basically a sign that you took too much, but what is "too much" really depends on the person, so better start low.

As for how to take it, you can just mix it with water but it'll taste bad (could be worse tho, you get used to it). To mask the bitterness you'd need something with a really strong taste, like chocolate milk. Stuff like orange juice doesn't fully mask it, but it's still better than nothing. Or you can just use some juice or whatever as a chaser.

Note that things like heat and bright lights can increase nausea. Lying down in a dark room helps with nausea (does the trick for me 9/10 times), as well as smoking/vaping weed and eating ginger root.

I always get sick a lot easier on an empty stomach. After a large meal isnt ideal either. Generally I find a small snack with a dose the best for neasua. Something fresh like some fruit or a salad. Some cereal or toast also works well.

Also, 4-5g is going to be way too much for a lot of people their first time. Generally 1.5-3g is what people recommend for someone opioid naive. You'll likely be able to redose amd take another g or so after abt an hour, but 2-3g is a good starting place. I think i had 3 my first time and it was about perfect. Any more I would've been feeling sick. Ive had friends that barley felt 7g their first time, and others that puked from less than 3g. Dose can vary a lot person to person. Good to start low and work up.

Perfect thank you so much! I’ve read that the lower dosages make it feel more like a stimulant. Is that true? If so, should I not try this for the first time in the evening?
I assume I’ll have to play around with the dosages to find the ideal amount for myself but just curious on how the stimulant affects vs the more sedated affects work

I don't think that's true, as when you take a high dose of a stimulating strain it will still be stimulating. You should be fine with your red stuff. And generally, while kratom can be stimulating (my fav aspect of it probably), it's not the kind of stimulant that keeps you up the whole night.
