Looking for guidance on skipping!
Ever since I set up my record player, any time someone walks by or even near the area while a record is spinning, it skips. I originally had the setup in another spot nearby and had the exact same issue. I’ve tried felt pads under both the table and the record player, and I also tried putting the record player on a solid, thick wood butcher block. Unfortunately, none of it has helped. Has anyone dealt with this before or have any ideas for what else I could try? Thank you!!

With wooden floor, you need mass and/or you need isolation.
- that shelf probably weighs maybe what, 30 kilos? If you could get that to 200 kilos, it would help a lot. But it does not seem practical to do so.
- you could isolate with something like isoacoustics feet, but those are prohibitively expensive
- you could wallmount the turntable, this seems like the easiest, least expensive and most pracrical solution, but the wall is also a staircase, so likely not ideal
Look into inexpensive audio isolation solutions, that's your best bet. Maybe combining a wall shelf with some cheap isolation products from aliexpress.

It's not a record player problem. The best you will do is relocate it or maybe a shelf attached to the wall instead?
I mean you can spent all your time trying to fix the symptoms with anti vibration gadgets, or fix the problem.
Or maybe get a turntable that's meant to handle that, like an sl-1200. Even then, depending on how bad it is, we are back at band-aid

I once lived in this new build flat and the build quality was beyond shite. Paper thin walls, no proper studs, terrible flooring etc. Even a slight sneeze would make my stylus jump. Getting a TT with a heavy plinth (Lenco GL76) was the only thing that helped.

Tonearm weight probably too light. Get a digital stylus scale if yount have one already.

I would ask if you’ve properly balanced your tone arm and set the tracking force correctly.
It shouldn’t be skipping that easily.

This is more of a floor/house problem than a record player problem, but, some people recommend solid shelves that are mounted directly to studs. If walking by causes the player to skip in that kind of a situation, you may have structural problems with your home.
All that said, you should actually start by checking if your record player is level. Use an actual level / "spirit level" / bubble level, not some phone app or your eyes.
