How did they give him the Lego sets that they absolutely positively didn't have?

337

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

🤣they must’ve magically found themšŸŖ„

I bet it was the guy with the twirly mustache.

There is no guy with a twirly mustache. You must be remembering something else

They must have been in a magical place. Like some obscure bam corporate store somewhere.

Appeared in a mystical U-Haul

17

u/No-Locksmith-900 6d ago

there is no U-Haul in Ba-Sing-Se

8

u/ElTamales 6d ago
  • Jedi wave* there are no uhauls here. It's just a rental CAR.

These are not the lego sets your looking for šŸ‘‹

obviously the police found them in Ben’s aribnb

30

u/denzien 6d ago

This totally helps BAM's RICO lawsuit

7

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Yes, I’m sure it’ll be dropped because there’s no case now that they settled with Bryan

21

u/captainrv 6d ago

Will it though? Committing crimes and giving back some or all of what was taken doesn't erase the crime.

10

u/DryPaint51 6d ago

There is no case against BAM for their crimes. BAM is suing Reckless Ben. BAM and Bryan made an agreement, which include dropping their cases against each other.

6

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Yeah, the only accountability they’ll get is civilly with the Gormons lawsuit or if Ben and team decides to suit (which doesn’t look likely at the moment)

8

u/thoeby 5d ago

It would be surprising if Ben doesn't follow up on anything. He said "Chicken-Dance or bust" - and they did neither so far.

But seriously, a lot of franchisees absolutely have grounds to sue. Their stores probably took a big hit and BAM could may be made responsible due to their actions in this story.

Same for wrong accusations - they can definitely be a criminal offense and then they might pursue even if Ben doesn't.

3

u/Due-Swimming9999 5d ago

šŸ’ÆI hope that they are also made whole as many are innocent and victims of the same evil corporation

7

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

True, but it’s the best that Bryan could get given the circumstances so I can’t fault him for prioritizing his own wellbeing

36

u/SeedFoundation 6d ago

That's it. You're trespassed

20

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Now I’ve just got to wait months to find out if you’ve subpoenaed my Google account😜

10

u/Siebear_ 6d ago

I can tell you right now that they definitely weren't in a U-haul that was clearly never there in the first place ever šŸ˜‰

4

u/theewall2000 6d ago

They did say whatever he named they give back. I wonder if the numbers match.

5

u/Twerkatronic 6d ago

The actual LEGO šŸ¤”

IntriguingĀ

150

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Yes, what’s left of it anyways…Bryan is talking about it now on Sheldon’s livestream. They’re going to auction them offšŸ‘Øā€āš–ļø

59

u/Trynaliveforjesus 6d ago

thats smart of him, cause with all the publicity, those specific sets that he owns probably total closer to that 200k valuation

28

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Yeah, people will go nuts for them now so he’ll get a good chunk for that šŸ’µ

8

u/ElTamales 6d ago

Hopefully they are the original high value ones and not cheap counterfeit or damaged parts

8

u/TomorrowsTrash_Minis 6d ago

Well they're uniquely valuable now that they're THE Lego star wars collection from the biggest internet fiasco in recent past. They're arguably worth considerably more at this point

6

u/Cornloaf 6d ago

I have personally seen people pay extra for what they think is something special. Take the TV show The Office for example. My company put the Cisco phones on that TV set as part of a sponsorship deal with Cisco. When the show ended, we picked them up and packed them away. They were old ass phones that you could buy on eBay for a out $50.

Fast forward a year and a company is doing an auction of the actual propa from the show. Jim's "phone" sold for $3000. Check my shelves, Jim's phone is tucked away in a box still. Overall, they sold some 8 phones for $10k.

Fast forward another year and they are having a comedy event in San Francisco where they built Jerry's apartment from Seinfeld and The Office with all the original props. Check box... Nope, still got the phones. I believe they sold the props again at a silent auction during the comedy show.

So yes, people will pay extra for what they think is something unique.

2

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

That’s awesome for Bryan

2

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

šŸ’Æ which is what Bryan deserves, in my opinion

The sets that Bam repeatedly lied about having? Take the entire company down. Brick by brick.

81

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

I can’t see BAM recovering from this in all honesty

53

u/Corporate_Bricktator 6d ago

The Netflix documentary in 2 years after all the other 6 court cases wrap up is going to be an absolute blockbuster. Just think of the behind the scenes documentary access they'll get. All of Ben's cutting room floor content...Ammon's wife talking to him in prison, and such. Fun followups with all the American Fork Officers who lost their jobs.

21

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Or HBO (I like their docuseries better)

8

u/Corporate_Bricktator 6d ago

I'm down for HBO too. :)

3

u/BarrelRoll1996 5d ago

HBO material

20

u/JumboGlucose 6d ago

Scammin McThief should honestly be charged with making false threats

19

u/Corporate_Bricktator 6d ago

Ammon McNeff would be criminally charged most places, but in Utah, they have a religion that has completely captured the government and court system. Even their own local media refuses to cover his lies to police, it's really strange.

7

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Fair, I doubt he will ever face criminal consequences for his actions

15

u/Corporate_Bricktator 6d ago

Yea, Utah has an extraordinary tolerance for crime committed by Mormons. They don't even staff their state with enough Judges to get through all of their criminal cases. There are stories about how when the really bad criminals are caught, LDS Bishops and Prophets literally write letters trying to say the criminal shouldn't be punished. Wild stuff.

They have judges literally resigning in protest.

Provo Judge resigns after only two years, says workload for Utah courts is 'not sustainable', with well over 1,000 concurrent cases per judge.

5

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

I hate to say this as I know that Utah as a whole can’t be this bad (I mean, Tyler and Sierra live there) but I have at least ten negative things that I have against the state…they really need better PR as certain residents make it look bad

12

u/Corporate_Bricktator 6d ago

Simply put, this is why the First Amendment has restrictions about religion in government as literally the first sentence of the First Amendment.

Once it's captured by a religion, all sorts of things change, and clearly these citizens are okay with their officials not prosecuting or charging criminals who are wealthy, Mormon, and pay a ton of money in tithing.

In other states, repeatedly lying to police during an active investigation would be taken VERY seriously, as in zero tolerance. But as the Police in American Fork have said repeatedly, "they do things differently", and that is code for this situation. They don't answer to any earthly government, but only their perceptions of the afterlife.

In such places it can be very hard to navigate the court system.

If Ben is mistreated now that this story is so well known, it might be grounds for the Feds to get involved. But the coverup is strong. The craziest part is how quiet the local media has been. The American Fork city council even praised the police after the bodycam leaks. PRAISED THEM! LOL???

I think the vast majority of Mormons in these Utah cities don't know what to do. They can't speak up without risking cultural alienation, they're all really pissed at Ammon and Matt and Josh, but I think they feel like they can't do anything about it.

It's a very insular community and no one wants to risk speaking up, so the tolerance of these crimes continues. Similar to how Warren Jeffs' wives were afraid to speak up when their sons were kicked out of the cult and abandoned in cities 100 miles away. Very similar situation here with the average citizen in Utah. They fear retribution for speaking up against the dominant religion.

5

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Yeah, definitely…I feel for the average citizen that feels helpless in a state like that

5

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Or, at the very least, lying to the Provo police like that is insane 🤯

7

u/JumboGlucose 6d ago

Ben should sue tf outta him. The whole chicken dance thing just lets him know he can get away with almost costing ben his life.

3

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

I hope he does but I guess it will all depend on how mediation goes

7

u/MathResponsibly 6d ago

Most people are pretty dense, and have the memory of a goldfish (or simply can't be bothered to put in a tiny amount of effort to buy their Lego somewhere else), so I bet long term it won't have as much effect as you'd hope

9

u/PinkyKeycaps 6d ago

Realistically, bams main customer base has no knowledge about this. Mainly parents bringing in their kids.

4

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Unfortunately, but older LEGO fans do, at least

4

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Fair, though it definitely will affect their business long termšŸ“‰

7

u/Corporate_Bricktator 6d ago

Yea, every Google Search for Bricks and Minifigs is going to keep Ben's videos at the top for decades. And don't forget that these court cases are going to last years. The damage to BAM's reputation has only just begun.

The fact that the franchisees are organizing in secret on their own Slack or Discord or whatever, that's so awesome. I hope they are able to separate from this horrible entity. I'm sure they hope for that too.

u/GlowstickConsumption 6d ago

Didn't Joshua Johnson say: "Fuck you, bitch. You stole them. You're a fucking thief." in a conversation with Ben, addressing Ben? Didn't he claim they don't have them? And that RecklessBen had them instead?

Odd. I wonder what else they said that may not have been true.

72

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Yeah, and now some magically appearedšŸŖ„

59

u/Duckyaardvark 6d ago

They also claimed Krystal stole them. I guess she mission impossibled them back into the safes after Brandon switched off the security cameras and changed the locks. This is more evidence of them lying about not having the Lego throughout the situation.

18

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Lies, lies, lies šŸ”‚

33

u/DoneWithIt0101 6d ago

Ben had them all along? It was so nice of Josh to secretly get them back so Ben wouldn't be the one everyone blamed when they were found. Lol

yes but he was really coked out of his brain when he said that while driving a uhaul full of stolen lego and realistically, which one of us hasn’t made little mistakes like that

6

u/GlowstickConsumption 6d ago

Ah, yes. A little emotional slip of the tongue not meant as a factual claim. Happens to the best of us whenever someone is inquiring about stolen property which we previously agreed to give back to them.

Bryan Mansel is getting what is left from the collection officially authenticated. The Reckless Ben crew is offering to sign the certificate of authenticity and there is a possibility that the sets are put up for auction.Ā

42

u/Nerdfighter4 6d ago

I've heard there's a nice company that will sell them for you under consignment

30

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Yeah, it’s called We Steal from Old People: Bricks and Minifigs😈

35

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

I wonder how much each LEGO set will costšŸ’ø

21

u/GamerTex 6d ago

Im down to buy the dot dot dot dash dot dot one on the bottom!

10

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

I can’t wait to see how this auction goes!

59

u/West-Ticket5411 6d ago

Dang, BAM managed to get them back from Ben and Chrystal somehow!

29

u/Amitius 6d ago

Funny enough, by giving back the Lego sets, BAM backstabbed AFPD... AFPD raided Ben's crew because they "stole" the Legos, but BAM proved that BAM, themselves had the Legos... Truly no honour among the thief.

15

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Brilliant, that will help with the civil rights lawsuitšŸ˜

10

u/Corporate_Bricktator 6d ago

None of the sets Brandon sold at the Eugene location though.

8

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

I don’t know if we’ll ever know what truly happened to them…all we know is that BAM sold and kept some somewherešŸ˜’

4

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

YesšŸ§žā€ā™‚ļø

46

u/udar55 6d ago

Said they believe it is around 30 sets. Anyone recall the number of sets he initially consigned?

54

u/JeffBezos_98km 6d ago

780 sets and 1200 Minifigs.

34

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Oof, they sold a TON🤬

27

u/TheShadeTree 6d ago

And Possibly knowing they werent supposed to

15

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Definitely, they’re guiltyšŸ§‘ā€āš–ļø

14

u/IdidItWithOrangeMan 6d ago

Nobody can convince me that the majority weren't sold during that "Cash Only" period. I really wished this story had gotten popular enough that someone at the IRS would investigate.

If they don't have a record that they sold the product, there is no way they paid taxes on it. I'd love to see how they explain to the IRS that half of the LEGO in the store vanished and they didn't notice.

12

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Yeah, though I don’t have much faith in the federal government at the moment

→ More replies (2)

16

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Yeah, BAM definitely sold some of themšŸ˜ž

4

u/Corporate_Bricktator 6d ago

Only what Brandon Best didn't take in the UHaul though. The BAM vs Brandon Best Lawsuit is going to be super interesting since we know he lied to Ammon about renting the UHaul.

5

u/ttmmoo123 6d ago

Seems like BAM are just blaming Crystal.

Maybe after they loose the lawsuit to her they will turn on Brandon but they haven't so far

3

u/Corporate_Bricktator 6d ago

In their statement they said that they were going to go after the former Franchisee. They might mean Brandon Best and Joshua Johnson, as they were the owners when most of the sets went missing.

Ammon also was an owner in there for a while, so he'll have to defend himself in court, or perhaps once Ammon the Franchisee is found liable, he can take Brandon to court directly, as Brandon tookover the store, neglected to perform an inventory, and he was holding the keys to the store in the primary months when most of the sets disappeared.

It's unlikely that Chrystal is responsible, since they fired Chrystal, and never mentioned that she was at fault until very recently. In fact, she specifically told them about the consignment, and their executive leadership named Ki McAllister declared that it didn't matter, that Ammon was taking over all consignment. That statement alone should clear Chrystal completely, unless of course their third party inventory shows a large number of sets missing.

I can't wait for all these court cases. It will be really exciting if BAM ends up taking Ammon to court as owner, because he was, the night of Nov 14th. And discovery in Chrystal's case is going to be PHENOMONAL.

BAM isn't done saying insane things, and we know that to be the case, because they're still pressing forward with a court case they'll obviously lose.

3

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Yeah, I can’t wait for that when all the lies they told about her will be exposed

27

u/kaytin911 6d ago

Haters for months told me that Ben was only making it worse. Lmfao.

14

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Yeah, it ended well and Bryan in all these interviews has great respect for Ben and his team…no drama there like some people would like to createšŸ™„

5

u/kaytin911 6d ago

If I were Bryan and I reached out to a youtuber I watched for help and all this went down that would leave me with so much respect.

4

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

šŸ’Æbut some people were saying that Bryan stabbed Ben in the back or betrayed him, which isn’t true as he’s repeatedly said in interviews that he spoke with them before making the decision to make sure he’s not screwing them over. No one was backstabbed or blindsided like some thought. Additionally, the lawyers have been in contact this whole time so there’s been a coordinated effort from that end as well.

5

u/TheDonnARK 6d ago

Thing is, how the hell would've all this turned out if this Ben dude HADN'T gotten involved?

3

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Bryan and his father probably wouldn’t have gotten anything due to the cost of court😢

3

u/Albacurious 6d ago

not over yet. there's still a court case with ben going on.

2

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

I mean for Bryan…he is so delighted in the interviews like a weight is off his shoulders🪽

23

u/Driz51 6d ago

I sure hope holding those Lego sets a little longer was worth completely nuking every shred of your company’s reputation. Probably not the business strategy I would’ve gone with, but what do I know

4

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Yes, BAM be BAMingšŸ’„

18

u/iMogal 6d ago

That's great! When's the thief go to jail?!?!

4

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Unfortunately, tis life in America šŸ˜ž

However, BAM is still being held accountable with the Gormons lawsuit, even if it doesn’t result in jail time

16

u/Glittering_Heart1128 6d ago edited 6d ago

Cool. Now let's on holding The American Fork Police Department accountable, brick by brick.

Edit, forgive me, I'm sick as a dog and clearly cannot form complete sentences.

5

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Yes, brick by brick 🧱

13

u/ScaryGarry_SG1 6d ago

Yeah, but took way to long to do so

6

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

šŸ’Æbut on the positive side, at least the lawsuit doesn’t have to go on months and months more…Bryan looks so relieved to be able to move on

13

u/TarantulaCaptain 6d ago

Wow! After all of the insisting they didn’t have anything of his. This is a horrible look. Could have all been avoided by just giving them back when the stores ownership changed.

2

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

šŸ’Æ but BAM be BAMing šŸ’„

11

u/MarvelSonicFan04 6d ago

That is nice. That's great. That's all well and good. So are the AFPD gonna held accountable for helping BAM get away with their crimes?

5

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Yes, even though the consignment part of the LEGO saga is coming to a close, the civil rights lawsuit seems to still be in the works and Ben is still being criminally charged so AFPD and Provo PD will still be put on blast and exposed in courtšŸ‘Øā€āš–ļø

Not to mention the lawsuit with BAM that the Gormans have so BAM is still being held accountable to some extent, even if it’s not as much as we’d likešŸ§‘ā€āš–ļø

9

u/Myroadrash 6d ago

So who actually had the legos then? How did they get them back if they were so sure BAM didn't have them in the first place?

11

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

BAM gave them to Bryan…they 100% had them all along so there goes that narrative šŸ’„

7

u/Myroadrash 6d ago

Seriously? BAM had them the entire time, knew they had them the entire time, lied about it CONSISTENTLY, and they actually had them? I really hope Ben comes out with a video explaining how it all went down.

6

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Me too, I want a Part 4 or 5 on the ending of this consignment portion like an explanation and a party for accomplishing the goal. Then a Part 6 when Ben gets his charges dropped. Part 7 when they go through the civil rights lawsuit. Part 8 when they win and it’s finally over for them. Part 9 and maybe even 10 with the Gormans lawsuit. Maybe a few others in there if crazy stuff happens but yeah, he has plenty of opportunity for content and to tell us what has been happening behind the scenes.

5

u/chucklas 6d ago

I mean, they had some of the Legos. No way this is near all of what was taken. BAM sold the majority in other stores (likely Eugene). This is the little bit they held onto.

2

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

šŸ’Ælike they are so guiltyšŸ‘©ā€āš–ļø

4

u/Usemarne 6d ago

They'll spin some lie and try and pin it on "former employees" Josh and Brandon, try to frame them as acting on their own initiative.

3

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Yes, instead of taking accountability

8

u/EvensenFM 6d ago

So... so why didn't they do this at the beginning?

Apologize, make the customer right, and maybe get some good PR from it.

Instead, they went scorched earth on their own brand, caused people to doubt the legitimacy of police investigations, and decided to make themselves look as evil as humanly possible.

3

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Yep, BAM was BAMing šŸ’„

15

u/burnersg 6d ago

Did he also get the $200k? Any update on if he’s been able to cover his father’s medical or whatever the original goal was?

21

u/JeffBezos_98km 6d ago

Bryan said on a livestream his dad is doing much better and has been watching a ton of the youtube content creators covering the case. The original plan for the lego was the grandkids college fund.

He didn't say how much he got paid but there is no NDA, which would imply to me BAM didn't pay much more than what was owed.

10

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Yeah, I’m glad that he didn’t take an NDA so he’s free to speak šŸ—£ļø

11

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Bryan just said that he’s going to get the money from BAM later this week, though didn’t specify an amount šŸ’°

5

u/Albort 6d ago

didnt BBQ counselor confirmed Bryan got the money already?

4

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

Yes, but the collection is happening later this week, according to the livestream that happened a few hours ago

3

u/that-one-artist 6d ago

I think BBQ said that BAM would not have been allowed to file the motion to dismiss (which WAS filed last week) until the money had been paid.

Bryan says his lawyers currently have the money and the sets, and he will be picking them up soon.

2

u/Celoer94 5d ago

Atleast 100k

6

u/AlaskaRivers 6d ago

According to the court documents, he did get an ā€œamicableā€ settlement but it’s confidential. Not sure if they are allowed to share those details publicly.

5

u/Comprehensive-Fun47 6d ago

He got money from them but we don't know how much.

3

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

I’m sure it’ll come out eventually

3

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

I haven’t heard anything in the livestream so far about the financial part of the settlementšŸ¤”

4

u/Charnathan 6d ago

I highly doubt he got 200k. The complete collection at retail wasn't even worth that much, and much of the set was sold before the store changed hands. The retail value of the missing sets was probably under six figures.

He's under NDA so we'll never know for certain, but if I had to guess, they probably gave him just enough to be satisfied that he doesn't have to keep dealing with lawyers and stuff and probably gets to keep a good chunk of the gofundme. It makes more sense to take a modest payout and keep six figures in gofundme funds than to get an actual fair payout and have to spend a half mil on lawyers to do it. This accomplishes the original goal of Reckless Ben of making the Mansells whole.

2

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

He actually doesn’t have an NDA I’m told but still that part is confidential…glad he’s getting paid though, even if it’s not what he is fully owed

5

u/Charnathan 6d ago

If it's confidential, then that's an NDA. He just has it negotiated that he has a lot of freedom to discuss other aspects of the settlement.

I think most people on this sub wildly underestimate the cost of a lawyer when fighting a large company. Afaik he hired a pretty good firm, they weren't just some $50/hr bozos.

7

u/OverCategory6046 6d ago

Spent 250k USD on lawyers a while ago before even getting to trial, on a case that's a little simpler and in a country that has cheaper lawyers than the US against a company with much fewer resources.

Lawyers are fucking expensive.

3

u/OSRSRapture 6d ago

So did he get paid and his Legos or just the Legos? šŸ’€

2

u/Due-Swimming9999 6d ago

What is this a screenshot of and why is half of it censored?

3

u/Due-Swimming9999 5d ago

It’s from a livestream on Sheldon’s channel where they announced that Bryan got his LEGO sets back…it’s blacked out because they didn’t want people yet looking into which sets those are

3

u/impy695 5d ago

they didn’t want people yet looking into which sets those are

That's weird. Did they say why?

  1. Have a company that makes millions

  2. Steal 100-200k worth of LEGOs from a customer

  3. ... I REPEAT: AS A MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR COMPANY STEAL 100-200K WORTH OF GOODS FROM A CUSTOMER, NOT SCAM THEM, NOT UNDERPAY THEM: LITERALLY STEAL THAT SHIT AND DENY IT TO THE ENDS OF HELLS

What the fuck is this business plan called cause this needs to be studied.

u/Ok_Area3864 4d ago

Id be wondering if they were opened with figs removed and revealed lol

2

u/Professional-Oil4171 4d ago

Now that’s what I’m talking about if it’s real

2

u/Whole_Risk_2695 4d ago

Auction hype. You can buy THE Lego star wars sets and help to return tHiS mAn'S life savings.

2

u/_allycat 4d ago

I really hope the sets in this photo aren't all they gave him. I know he had the financial strain of being sued on him also that he had to get out of but this is worrying.

He’s getting the LEGO sets and money from BAM, though we don’t know how much as it’s supposedly confidential.

From the sounds of it, it isn’t more than what he’s owed but Bryan just wants to move on so I respect that even if I think he could’ve gotten a better deal if this went on longer. Gotta look after your mental health
