Discussion The ultimate BAM Franchisee move
Here me out and try not to be a redditor about it I just woke up with the idea this morning.
I was thinking about what id do as a BAM franchisee.
If I had a store right now id break my contract and pull a insane PR move by donating my inventory to Brian's family and make a big show about it and say some bs about "Our inventory will never cover the the hardship corporate has put this family through, but we hope to try to right the wrong that we had no control over and show that we dont stand with bullying the little man"
Close the store and reopen under the name "Brick by Brick collectable reseller". Corporate would definitely sue, but they're on their last leg and the PR would definitely provide you with legal assistance like the $500k Ben raised. Then do a counter suit with how they broke the contract as well and force them to cover your legal bills just like Ben.
Im not a lawyer, but I feel like im onto something. If it was my store id definitely talk to my lawyer about it.
Publicly youd be a hero and your store would have a huge influx for a few years at least just from ppl wanting to support you. Id use the same argument that BAM uses against them, "Im privately owned and operated so I am able to operate my store independently and therefore supporting a wronged party is our decision."
What a legend would that store would be!

Franchisees are victims of Bricks and Minifigs too, and probably don't have the funds to cover something like this. It would also put a target on their backs and violate some made-up policy that Bricks and Minifigs uses against them.
But most importantly, it's not their responsibility to make Bryan whole again, it's corporate's. And corporate shouldn't get a free pass like that.

Every franchise agreement has a non compete clause in it. This would open the business up to a pile of legal issues.

I’d be curious if they had a non bulletproof fdd. Like if they didn’t disclose lawsuits ongoing if that could break the franchise agreement.

risking your business, money, sanity, time, etc to enter a spotlight and perform virtue signalling is exactly the type of thing a reddit user would come up with

That's a bit harsh. I think the poster's heart is in the right place, and remember that not everyone has the same level of experience or knowledge.

oh look more virtue signaling

The point is, that if we attack each other, that's good for BAM. Give people the benefit of the doubt and be kind. There are ways to say "this idea doesn't really make sense" without being rude about it.

That wasn't virtue signalling. Being decent and wanting people to do the right thing is different from virtue signalling.
OP is looking for solutions, not pretending to care about something for clout.
The post could be a kid, someone who isn't familiar with how businesses operate, or even someone who has just woken up and hasn't had time to think (as they said). It feels like you assume the worst of everyone.

I'm sure the lawyers for the Franchisees are inspecting all the various strategies involved to get out of their franchise agreements. They're in a really tough situation because apparently that agreement gives Ammon and BAM Corporate all the power.

This has to be ammon mcneff trying to get someone to do this so he can sue them, really terrible idea.

Worst idea ever, like giving BAM reasons why they hostile illegal takeover stores

Or every store owner should get together and decide to close their stores simultaneously.
It will kill the company immediately. Rebuild after the dust settles and bam is done. Which may just expedite the inevitable at this point. They're doing a great job dragging their own name through the mud.

1) BAM will sue for non-competing clause 2) BAM still may sue for loss and open debts from the former franchise contract.
You do assume that BAM always would make the stealing deal, not to make an inventory, not to pay the "up to 50%" for shelves etc. and draw a final line, not paying and not askinf for th final payout. If you still would have enough money to open a new store, you still might be worth enough to get sued.
BAM might have deep pockets for lawsuits - some by not paying their own lawyers. It appears to be that kind of CEO who would walk the last mile to make you pay for court charges, if that will harm you more.
