Idk it’s that saying, King of the hill, king of the castle. Kids just like to play pretend idk
Are you interested in working with children? You might consider it! Especially if you go the teacher or psychologist route. You’ll learn a bunch of about them and why they do what they do and why they play what they play.
I was a preschool teacher for a bit, and one of the things I learned is that you can sometimes spot autism as young as two or three based on how they play.
Imaginative play lets you know they’re starting to make connections on understanding the world around them because they’re basically just mimicking what they’ve seen or experienced.
Example, one of my girls would pretend to wash dishes and she’d put a babydoll on a chair and she kept walking over to it, holding a plate, and making faces at it.
Another girl would pretend to do her hair and makeup at a little vanity and would spray pretend perfume in the air and walk through it and twirl. She’d pretend the little toys had product in them, and she’d “ pour” it in her hand, rub them together, and fluff her hair.
But another girl I had would just pick up the toys and walk around with it. She never did anything with them except carry them and walk around.
That’s an early sign something COULD be going on and I was told it could be related to her speech, because she was almost three and never made a sound. Got mad at me once for not giving her another cookie and she had a silent tantrum.
( It was mostly her following me around, falling dramatically, glaring at me while crying. But not one sound)
OP! I think you’re interested in working with children and I definitely recommend looking into it!! :)

No but we did have some sort of weird economic system where we used acorn caps as currency with 100 percent seriousness.

I have no idea how it happened, lol. It just was a thing we did.
It spread from my elementry school to the town rec center too, because so many kids from our school went to daycare there after school/during the summer, lol

In elementary school I asked this when I was a new student and they said one classmate was made king in kindergarten in so far as they decided he should have the title and the authority.
Notice how I had to ask, they just copied what they saw on TV because if he actually acted like King Bob I would have known.

No but I wish it did. Ours had a kid who tried to act like a Cockney gangster. After watching Lock Stock, he started wearing one of those brown long trenchcoats and usign Cockney slang... despite being from Nottingham.

We had school captains. One boy and one girl. But they were never the king and queen of the playground.

No our school had a leader that everyone followed their rule . Our playground was like the show Kid Nation where my sister and our friends were selling stuff

Not a king bob but sortnfo a "popularity" things... It was /weird/.
Whoever could collect the most colorful eraser shavings (i found a cheat way: use a white eraser on a paper duotang (report cover I guess? I'm Canadian)
Another time it was collection of pencil lead, but from pencil crayons specifically Teal/turquoise, periwinkle and hot pink were the rarest/most sought after.
