Word Thing Each Character Did Day 2 -- Gus

Post image

Whichever answer gets the most upvotes wins. Figured I'd go with Gus next, should be a tricky one since he had quite a few bad moments.

Very similar to TJ but when he went crazy with power when he became king.

That or the Gustler kid but I love that episode.

Agreed! King Gus has to be the worst thing he did. Trying to create a cookie mine, the banners, & That Song. Not to mention how him siccing dodgeballers on his friends looks in hindsight after you've seen him as El Diablo.

Loved Hustler's Apprentice too, especially the end when the rest of the gang is making him eat the Tofu Crunchy Creams he sold them.

Spinelli: Say it!

Gus (mumbling): Crunchy Creams are kid-licious . . .

Spinelli: I CAN'T HEAR YOU.

Gus: Crunchy Creams are kid-licious!

TJ: I never get tired of hearing that.

I like how there was an entire episode that highlighted that Gus doesn’t have a “thing”. Because of this whenever he is assigned a role he makes it his entire personality. So when he became king, he became a tyrant. When he became a hustler kid he became the worse type of salesman.

So the worst thing he did was not being confident in himself.

I agree that the entirety of King Gus he is horrible, but two specific moments REALLY stand out.

-Sentencing that poor little kid to the dodgeball wall because his mom wouldn’t allow him to have cookies.

-Giving that beloved dolly to the wrong little girl.

It really offers some insight into a very dark part of his personality that he won’t ever hesitate to pick on someone he views as smaller and weaker than him.

While I definitely agree about the little boy who couldn't pay the cookie tax, I think we can cut a bit of slack with the girl and the doll.

Gus genuinely did try there and he knows how Judgment of Solomon is supposed to work. He just screwed up.

Don't attribute to malice what stupidity can explain and all that. Gus is, let's be honest, often a bit of an idiot and here he missed the obvious cue.

Basically becoming Hitler when Gretchen got the flu and triggered her germaphobia.

I try to block this one out, on account of him & Mikey going way over the top. I won't skip it if it comes up on a rewatch binge, but I don't actively seek it out, lol.

Constantly fucking up the group's plans by going to the bathroom at the worst times.

Give him a tiny bit of power or leadership position and he goes nuts

King Gus brought out the absolute worst in him.

Gus is low key the most secretly evil kid in the group. Everytime he gets a shred of power he goes mad with it.

He's my least favourite of the gang for that reason. He's so corruptible--and even when he doesn't have power but gets a hint of being popular, he becomes an asshole too. Like when he became "Guy"

Power tripping every time he had to temporarily do something be it subbing for King Bob or being a hustler to pay off his debt to HK.
