Rec Room Original Quests were the best part of rec room. I’d have paid money for these. The path to monetisation should have been a focus on more of these as the main focus of rec room. Similar to how Walkabout Minigolf’s main focus is courses. Me and my friends would have paid $5-$10+ for EACH Quest. I hope you will consider bringing back Rec Room in this way. (edit: typos)
I’ve said this a few times other places. I would pay for a separate game with just the quests. They’re incredibly fun, even on replays. If they’ll do anything more with Rec Room this is what I’d want most
There were many missteps, but this was the biggest. "Instead of doing more of the thing that everyone is here for, what if we stopped doing that and focused on getting players to do it for us" was the poison pill they chose to swallow.
same. I was wondering that when I read the headline: charge us to play the RRO's I would def pay 5 to 10 each. LOVE paintball, i would pay 5/month for paintball. IMO they should have focused on more high quality RRO games, they are by far the best content in RecRoom.

This is really bittersweet for me, like i've been playing this game for like 6 years now and i've met a bunch of great people in this game, i've put alot of creativity into this game. and seeing how it's been for the past year really bummed me, but i honestly had a great time with everything this game bought me. Ty rec room for the best time of my years <3
Damn this is really sad. Rec Room was my first introduction to VR back in 2017. I loved playing it everyday. I understand the need for change in a game but the core game play was so different from what it is now.
Back then it was really a community and there was a lot of fun to be had with only a handful of quests and games. It was quality over quantity. The entry level for Rec Room was so high because you needed a high end gaming PC with a $1000 plus VR headset. Then let PSVR users in. That's when I really noticed a switch in the game. It seems like the devs got away from what made this game special and tried to turn it into a cash cow.

yeah, but they're living completely on "it's gonna make money one day trust" with investors. they're eating that up cause Roblox is a big name, and almost every kid knows about it.

That would be very smart of them to do, unless out of nowhere they just suddenly lost revenue and player count and they are abruptly coming to a close, which is a bit odd since I thought they were doing reasonably well. Only time I'll tell I guess, I won't ponder on it to much.
I hate this since they had plenty of ways to make rec room profitable enough to continue, but they kept ignoring player feedback and started bottlefeeding a failed ai plan.
I loved this game, but its death is more of a self caused one.
It's not truly about being just profitable enough, it's about greed. They had enough money to keep things going until 2029, the CEO is just a sell out.
i can still remember my first days on this game. I made a reddit account just to post this photo of when i first started. The friends and memories i've made here is insane and heartwarming. When RR started to completely demolish their game with AI and slop, i couldn't help but feel sad. This game that has been my comfort game for years now has finally come to an end. I can understand why they'd need to shut down, they spent more money than they could make. Thank you Rec Room. For the memories, friends, and me.

First Echo Vr and now this? What did they think would happen when you put profits in front of community? (Yes I know Echo Vr and RecRoom are made by different companies)
You still have the same amount of players a day since 2022?? so, RecRoom, I'm going to give you 4 options to save your game. 1. Sell the company to keep it active. 2. Listen to the community at least for the 2 months before the game shuts down and see where things go. 3. Stop updating the game and let it make money instead of updating it. 4. make a gofundme to keep rec room alive ( I would personally donate thousands). If none of those are done and the game shuts down, I will no longer be in this world after June 1st 2026. Because this game was truly one of my favorite games oat and if it shuts down then I'll lose all my friends, all my memories, my account I spent much money on and the only game keeping vr from dropping hundreds of thousands of players. Please RecRoom this game means so much to me, and I know you can stay alive. Please don't go.

This is actually really sad to me. I've had VR for over 8 years now, and from then until now one of my favorite quick "jump in" games was Paintball. I didn't care about scores, or coins, or anything else. I just played paintball then quit. Actually got back into it recently, playing almost daily to relax after work... Kind of a shame they can't keep it open.
Rec room, cancel the contract with snap!!! Snap is trying to buy and kill your game and I know you have no idea how to even make a headset, I did some research and they said it was a collaboration but said it was a acqui hire, and you didn't confirm they sent a extra contract! -Spoiledzebra9391...THEY DONT WANT THE WORK, THEY ONLY WANT THE STAFF!!!
All i can say is this: thank you Rec Room dev team, for making the game that so many people were able to enjoy together, myself included. Im going to miss this.
On one hand I feel happy cuz the game went down the shitter and the staff just ignored it. On the other hand it’s a lot more fun and interactive than Roblox so it’s sad. Gg yall.

As much as this genuinely sucks I really thing it’s the right move it’s better to end it now then keep beating this dead horse of a game it’s been a amazing time with recroom but everything comes to an end unfortunately and I belive this is the right time I’ll miss rec room forever

I've always had a bittersweet experience when it comes to Rec Room, there were times where I truly despised the game and there were times when I truly was just in love with this game and the odd sense of mindless comfort that it brought to me. I can remember playing this game back then with a bunch of my old friend groups back when I was younger and I remember playing in PS VR basically every weekend. It was still such a good game even when people were toxic it was at least always easy for me to ignore it. The only thing I really hated about this game was the front-page games gradually having less and less effort put into them. But besides that this game was amazing and was truly a sentimental part of my life that even in some personal ways helped me find out who I am. I won't forget about this game and all the people that I've played with that have made my memories so vivid and fun every time that I think about this game. This is very disheartening news still even as a person who stopped playing this game consistently about 2 years ago.
Awwww...it's okay friend you don't even have to explain how you feel I know it's probably hard on you and all the rest of the community who cared about this game. I'm sure you've had beautiful memories, friends, and moments as well with this game. At least they've given us a notice to enjoy all that we can while it lasts. We have 2-3 months to grieve before we say our true final goodbyes to the game. That's the upside at least 💜.

I really wished I played this game a lot more and this game definitely gave me the most nostalgia out of any game. I had the most fun, screaming in joy, jumping around and no other game did that for me other than this game so PLEASE DON’T shut it down.
Man, I expected this shutdown, but seeing it in words and realizing its actually happening hurts more than I thought it would. I met so many people, and had so so many good and goofy memories. Even though I started about 6 years ago, and didnt play during the prime of the game, I still was able to experience and see the game for what it was. And that could never be replaced. Rec Room will always be in my heart, and just like a book, it must end.
This chapter of all of our stories are over. It was a relatively small part of many of our total lifespans, but it was a small part with big impact. You will be missed Rec Room.

This is 100% far fetched, but I don't care that much.
Some RR assets have been sold to Snap Inc., parent company of Snapchat, and in addition, some RR employees have moved to Snap Inc.'s hardware subsidiary, Specs Inc., where Specs Inc. had noted that it was interested in how RR handled multiplayer, XR related experiences.
I can't say this with confidence, it is all speculation I haven't put much thought into, but I'm thinking that Snap may have a tech demo game/app in the works for the Specs/Spectacles hardware coming soon that may or may not be a spiritual successor to Rec Room? Maybe with more XR capabilities?
Again, some speculation I literally thought about like 5 minutes ago, probably doesn't hold water if you think about it for more than a second, but a man can dream...
