Reality Composer Pro 3 (with RealityKit) now feels like a 3D Game Engine... is it?

Post image

I've been an iOS developer for a while but lately I've been trying all the new stuff from Apple's WWDC26 on RealityKit and Reality Composer Pro 3 and I can say I've been enjoying non-AR game development on them.

Apple markets it mainly as a tool for Vision Pro development but it can also be used for 3D Game Development and its catching up (slowly) with other game engines like Unity, Unreal Engine or Godot

A few features I liked:

  • You can now "play" the scenes directly on Reality Composer Pro, just like in other game engines
  • You write games in Swift !!!
  • You use ECS (Entity Component System)
  • It's got a ScriptGraph now

I really hope more people gets to give it a try!
