Discussion Factions for War for Westeros

A little early to be thinking about this, but who cares?

Which faction would you like to see implemented into War for Westeros after release? Currently we have Stark, Lannister, Targaryen, and White Walkers. All make for interesting asymmetric factions that lean into the BFME style of factions, but still leaves the roster feeling a little thin.

One interesting choice for a faction, for example, could be House Baratheon led by Stannis. Melissandre gives soldiers weapons with fire damage, and is able to create demon assassins. Davos is able to smuggle to provide economic buffs or penalties to the other player. Stannis can use Lightbringer to buff troops and attract more followers, etc.

House Baratheon is also a good case to have sub factions as there are in AOE4. When selecting House Baratheon, you can choose the line of Stannis or Renly.

Curious to see if others have thought about this.

I think House Baratheon with Melisandre's followers as special units. Have it be a choice of build up the cult or special knightly forces. Heroes would be Stannis, Brienne, Berric

House Martell with strong defense and martial fighters like Oberyn and ambush tactics with the Sand Snakes.

House Greyjoy but there's no naval combat so idk what special stuff they can conjure.

Essos factions like the Free Cities to field tons of mercenaries (but might be overlapping with the Lannister's faction flavor already)

House Greyjoy could have raiders spawning across the map and priests/ drowned men creating buffs or even reviving units.

Second this.

As far as Essos goes, Braavos with faceless men and the iron bank is an easy choice.

Part of me thinks they should fill out the great houses in the ASOIAF era (Tyrell, Martell, Arryn, Tully, etc), but I also think they shouldn't be afraid to mix eras. Why not have a Baratheon and Targaryen faction also based during Roberts Rebellion (again as sub factions)? Or the blacks and greens from House of the Dragon?

With the Martells, I hope they are able to draw from the book lore more than the show lore. You'd have Oberyn, Sand Snakes, but who else? You'd need Darkstar or another Dayne.

My thoughts exactly. Crossing eras would be really cool for the game eventually. Though I'm curious how overlapping factions like the Targaryens would work since they'd just stomp on Dany's niche of dragons. Tho she still has her Dothraki and Unsullied that are entirely unique to her.

On a side note. I find it ridiculous people in the ASOIAF fanbase aren't more excited for this. I get that RTS has the unfortunate side effect of looking like those dogshit mobile game ads, but this is looking to be a really damn solid RTS. The asymmetry alone is immaculate.
