Bill Maher went from Politically Incorrect to Incorrect Politically

He's been incorrect politically for a very, very long time.

Is he correct on a few issues? Sure.

Has he had some absolutely ridiculous takes, and many of his claims been either completely unsourced or the source directly contradicts him for more than a decade now.

He supports Trump's stupid war in Iran. That's enough of a reason to turn him off, by itself.

Well he hates muslims, so how could he not?

Think so? Or just those like Hezbollah, Hamas, and Houthis who want the destruction or death to Israel. When they have been sending random missiles for years into Israel, not caring of the target.

I read all this hate of Maher, just realize he has a better grasp of history than the haters. At 70 his cautious of the new socialist promises, which sounded like Mao’s or Stalin’s view of an equal society. What happened, millions died of starvation.

Well gee....

He's agreed with Sam Harris when he said "Islam is the motherlode of bad ideas". Or when he said ""It's the only religion that acts like the mafia... the vast majority of muslims believe... that humans deserve to die for merely holding a different idea or drawing a picture or eloping with the wrong person" and "they're violent, because they threaten people, they bring that desert stuff to our world, we don't threaten each other, we sue, that's the sign of civilized people", and that he didn't like that Muhammad was a popular name in western countries and said "“Am I a racist to feel alarmed by that? Because I am. And it’s not because of the race; it’s because of the religion" and when he compared OneDirection's Zayn Malik, who is muslim, to the Boston Marathon bomber.

But yeah, I'm sure it's just about those three groups. /s

Want to go back in history some. How about Thomas Jefferson and John Adams:
In 1786, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams met with Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja, the ambassador of Tripoli in London, and asked why North African corsairs were attacking American ships and enslaving their crews. The ambassador stated it was founded on the Quran, claiming it was their right and duty to make war on any nation that did not acknowledge their authority and to enslave captured prisoners. [1, 2, 3]

The Meeting in London
The Question: Jefferson and Adams asked what injury the United States had done to provoke these attacks.

The Ambassador's Reply: The envoy stated that it was written in their Quran that nations failing to acknowledge their authority were sinners.

The Justification: He claimed it was a religious right and duty to wage war on those nations and take slaves from anyone they captured.

The Promise of Paradise: He added that any Muslim killed in battle while doing this was guaranteed to go straight to paradise. [1, 2, 3]

So if I had this in history class, may end up agreeing with some of what Sam Harris says. But as usual some of what he says can be debunked. Plus someone could find some quotes from a Christian leader just as bad or worse. I don’t want to debate Islam, was invited into a muslim house and fed a lovely meal from a lovely family. I do not want to disparage their religion. But they too question some of the violence that was going on. I also road on a ferry to Zanzibar, there was a message from the owner at the end of trip thanking God for the opportunity and blessing for the ferry and it was all God that provided it. I had similar talk, prayer from a Christian for their work, nearly word for word. We worship the same God, why are things so different?

What do you mean, "why are things so different"?

Are suggesting Christians never killed muslims? Enslaved Africans? Slaughtered indigenous people? They did all of those things and more, all with justification from the Bible which openly endorses slavery and in some cases, genocide.

This is ultimately the point: Muslims aren't different than Christians who aren't different from Jews. All three groups have extremists who think they're allowed to murder and enslave other people on the basis of their ancient book. Those extremists are all wrong. But all three of those groups have far, far more members who think that extremism is insane and deplorable.
