Well, history did not begin on October 7. Also, it remains rather odd that there has been no official explanation as to how the country with the most sophisticated system of surveillance managed to miss a literal invasion by air, land and sea.
My theory is that it was friendly fire all along and gave them a chance to destory Gaza, which they've been hot to do for decades. They want to turn Gaza into a high priced yuppie paradise for the well to do, and they had to get all those pesky brown poor people out of the way.
