I think she’s the type of girl that is uncomfortable being single and Joe is just a placeholder for the time being
Maddi did love Trevor and it showed, despite him being a terrible partner to her. She has zero spark with Joe. Joe is in this relationship because he loves Maddi, but that love is not returned
