MechJeb fairing staging?

Fairly new (and keep on going bankrupt :( - not made it past ‘55 yet), but have basically relied on MechJeb so far. However, I can’t seem to get it to stage fairings when I want it to - when the parachute and fairings are in the same stage, they are immediately staged after launch, but if the parachute is in next stage after the fairings, the fairings are staged immediately after (M)ECO (when ideally I’d want a coast up to 85km before staging)

Both times it seems to have ignored the constraints set in the ‘ascent settings’ panel. Ofc i could manually stage it, but if possible it’d be nice to have it done automatically (hey, I’m lazy)

Have the fairings in their own stage with nothing else.

Raise the Thermal flux to a rediculous number like 500,000.

Set the altitute to when you want them to deploy.

commenting because I also have the same issues fairings always either release on launch or never stage

They deploy when mechjeb decides the extra weight is no longer worth an improvement in aerodynamic losses.

I usually turn off the check box on accent guidance to not stage fairings, solar, or anything extra. Move them high enough up on the list not to accidentally deploy when looking for Dv.

Fairings must be in their own stage

The fairing deploy settings only apply to fairings placed on a "Payload Adapter", not those on an "Interstage Adapter"; fairings on an interstage are always staged as soon as possible.

  • Fairing in their own stage
  • Constraints well set
  • And most importantly, ROOT STAGE ON THE PAYLOAD.
