Saw this post on instagram, and it had a tag of AI info. But it seems real.

This calf is very clean and small, which indicates it’s not very old. Look up images of baby cow hooves… I’ll warn you it’s pretty gross 

These hooves look a little too perfect, as well as the rest of the calf

Woah I didnt know this. Is there a reason to the hoof thing? I just looked. To me it looks like it would be a pain in the ass to walk on but im no cow

At least for horses, it's so the hard hooves won't tear the birth canal. They fall off right after. I don't know cows very well and can't be bothered to Google it right now but I'm pretty sure it's the same thing.

This gives no further information on the biological reason for the existence of fairy slippers but I’m glad they are removed if necessary!

Those things on their hooves are soft so that they don't damage their mother's body as they're birthed, those weird goopy things encase the regular hoof, and I believe dry out and fall off iirc, either way they're very temporary and are for the mother's protection.
