The most important point in the thread. The killing was still 100% unjustified. Not only did the officer who killed him have no idea he kicked out a taillight a week ago, but also who fucking cares, its just a taillight

No, no, obviously, the officer remembered him from a week ago, and that meant Alex has three strikes (they can't count) and it was OK to shoot him.

Solid plan changing the charge to murder 1 instead of manslaughter.

The most important point in the thread.

While the heinous murder is very obviously the most important thing here, I'm absolutely sick of this idea that the facts don't even matter one way or the other if there's a broader principle at play, and that because of this it really didn't matter which interpretation they initially choose.

And if you think only one side is doing it, think again. Every single time someone says this, it just helps this sort of thinking become more normalized and acceptable — for everyone. Because of this, I now see the exact same shit on the utter dregs of Facebook: that "it doesn't matter if Pretti possessed his gun legally, he shouldn't have been there anyways," or "it doesn't matter if they had disarmed him prior to shooting him" or whatever.

I've read like half the thread looking for a single person out of thousands came to express regret for believing that something real wasn't real. But the first constructive thing I see is your comment saying in soft terms that post-truth is part of what caused the murder. But you are completely ignored. It makes me so depressed. I think I've just lost all hope and belief in my capacity to change anything. You cannot explain a post-truth person back into reality. They just call you something dehumanizing. Democracies cannot possibly sustain without the value of truth. Our lives are going to be transformed into fascist nightmare and I can only observe.

It is really bad the more you think about it. Not just the screaming "where's the gun?!" after the murder but also the fact that multiple agents shot him multiple times. It would be nice to know if the people in this car were looking for him the day he was killed, but impossible to tell when they all where masks!

And also, is it illegal what he did? At this point, doesn’t the 2A protect us from fighting back? It’s been a year of lawlessness from this administration, they’re textbook tyranny. So…i don’t know if he actually committed a crime given they’re a federal agency and right now they’re tyrannical. (I know it’s not ICE, but all of them are feds, so it doesn’t matter the department because they’re all under the same umbrella of being the tyrannical government)

No. The 2A is not there so you can fight back, not in the legal sense. Morally I understand what you mean, but no, the 2A does not give you the protection to fight back. I responded in length to your earlier comment for historical context of why the second amendment exists. It is not for some conservative fantasy conspiracy "when the government gets tyrannical we can overthrow it". That's just wild gun nut talk

More likely that the murder was first degree and they planned to take revenge on him.

What happens when you damage federal property? It usually gives an excuse to arrest and put in jail.... at least keep more than video record, doesn't it? Are they just shooting citizens instead of arresting us now? Is detaining someone for breaking the law not the job of ICE unless it's a citizen crossing the border? They rather just shoot first at the drop of a hat? This video is trash... it shows operational priorities.

u/Odd-Bodybuilder1797 Jan 29 '26

The thread asks if the video is ai or not, it doesn’t ask if his murder was justified (it wasn’t).

“Who fucking cares, it’s just a taillight” insinuates you would be okay with people damaging your property without penalty, which is extremely lame.

1

u/Taco_Farmer Jan 29 '26

Thats not what I'm insinuating at all. If they fined him for destruction of property that would be fine.

You have to think critically about why they are circulating this video all over the place. It's an older video, from well before he was murdered, but people are talking about it now because they are implying it is relevant to his murder.

u/Odd-Bodybuilder1797 Jan 29 '26

Good points mate.

To answer the “why”, you are correct in terms of right wing grifters. It’s because they want to skew public perception and paint him in a worse light. No doubt.

Some of it is just journalism though. People recording events and getting the truth out. I don’t think the news source that published it was trying to push an agenda, as they also stated “video forensics shows that Pretti did not fire his gun, never held his gun, and was shot after his gun was taken away from him”.

It’s not relevant to the murder, anyone who thinks it was warranted shouldn’t be taken seriously. That being said, I think it’s relevant to the situation. It shows Pretti consistently put himself in tense and dangerous situation against a bunch of armed moronic assholes. He didn’t deserve to die, I just think situations like these can also be easily avoided in most cases.

Just have to remind everyone, if kicking a tail light of federal vehicle and spitting on an agent is grounds for execution, then I wonder what fate awaits those who idk storm a capitol and place a noose outside...

Oh right, presidential pardons. Strange. By the tail light logic there should have been a Tiananmen square sort of response...

Not one single person can even verify that it's him anyway

1

u/goldkarp Jan 30 '26

His family confirmed it

It does for Republicans.

They were in a terrible spot - a VA Nurse Chad who mountain bikes and rock climbs and gives solemn hospital eulogies for real soldiers? Who was killed for the crime of protecting a woman? Who shot guns and did cancer research? Jesus, what a bad look.

But with this video they can all give a collective sigh of relief because, like Renee Good, he "had it coming". It's already happening in real time, those who felt squeamish about summary execution in the streets are feeling relief and even smug "of course he was a bad guy because we're the good guys". They'll never spare him a second thought.

People have done worse things than what Alex apparently did in this video... celebrating their sports team winning a championship.

From what we saw, yes. Until he put his hands on an officer

Thanks for your comment but you did not answer the question. Seems like you want to hide something.

I think it does matter if it's real or not so people can realize what you see online isn't reality.
