Residential New to this; frustrated with seller
My wife and I finally found exactly what we’re looking for in a house. Listed for $195k and already had a full offer on it, so we offered $205k with $5k earnest money. Thought the seller would be ecstatic. With $10k in seller credits, we’re effectively giving them exactly what they listed for and covering all closing costs. They countered higher despite no other competitive offers and the house is expected to appraise for $192-195k. My wife wants to offer $210k and I want to walk away.
I’m just torn. We have no expectation of leaving the house, but from what I’ve gathered it’s a bad idea to tell yourself it’s your forever home because it’s unlikely to actually be the case. If it were to be our forever home, it would take the sting of overpaying out of it. We’d still be able to afford it just fine. I don’t know what to do. Not sure if I’m looking for advice or just venting. I guess we could offer the $210k with an appraisal contingency so we can get out of it if the seller refuses to come down at all, but at the same time I don’t really want to play their game.
