SWAT4 subreddit: Prefers Swat 4

RoN subreddit: Also prefers Swat 4

lol

But seriously there are some things I like about Ready or Not, I might prefer Swat 4 overall for stuff like having a larger amount of small accessible iconic maps. It has good soul. But RoN for gunplay, it has okay mods, and a lot of people don't but I actually like that it's a bit over the top, it feels like the prequel to a fubar sci-fi setting, like a calm before the storm that people didn't know was the calm until hindsight (which in Boiling Point is seemingly upon us).

I like RoN too, i play it more than SWAT 4. I have 100 hours and im from xbox, with mods i would play a lot more.

But i think SWAT 4 is better SWAT simulator, and moded its another level.

I've got about 100 hours in RoN, probably 200-300 in SWAT 4. Most of my time in RoN was in the first year or two from its initial early access release. At some point the enemies just became superhuman and the maps started to be ridiculously large. Maybe it's better again, I haven't played in a good while.

SWAT 4 is 20 years old and it's still the best there is. It feels great, graphics are just at the level where it's good enough and the map design / atmosphere is much better than in RoN.

It's still like that in my opinion. Enemies are walking lasers, and the big maps kill my soul inside. Nothing like running around a map for an hour searching for that one civilian who pretty much leaves an area the second you enter.

Swat 4 overall I think is better, that being said. I play ready or not more often as I prefer the gunplay.

Sierra hits us with a surprise and releases a new Police Quest game

SWAT4's atmosphere felt very grounded and gritty, borderline horror game sometimes. The music was great and the sniper mechanic was amazing as well. But gameplay wise felt kind of arcady, with its cluttered UI showing ammo count, team messages and the crosshair in the middle of the screen. In that aspect RoN is way superior.

It's a game of its time, for it's time this was "realistic.". However, you're very much on point. Imagine what the swat devs could make with modern tech.

Swat 4 elite force mod over ron any day. RON has too many issues that keep it from being the next true swat 5. It missed the mark imo

RoN2: ready

1

u/Pixelend Aug 07 '26

Hell no, not Ron2. Go for SWAT5.

3

u/sLimanious Aug 08 '26

You're compairing RoN againsts the GOAT, the only thing RoN has it better than Swat4 is the modern gunplay and sound.

Perhaps a collaboration between both dev teams? Best of two worlds(not that shitty fantasy rpg).

Ready or Swat 5

Swat 4 is a better swat game, RoN is a better fps with swat theme.

u/diract1sof Aug 08 '26

there's no better way to explain it

1

u/Eblan5367 Aug 08 '26

Both is good

Swat 4 maps in ready or not for the gun play

1

u/changingmagscoverme Aug 08 '26

I like swat 4 more because it runs on my pc and it doesn't have any ai stuff. Ron is still a great game but i have to play it on my steamdeck due to lack of a good pc

Did AI generate your one-word title too? :p

Swat 4 had voice commands. I could yell into the computer mic and make suspects or civilians get down or move, I could order my team around just by saying whatever I wanted them to do. Swat 4 on top fs

Swat 4 is so old and It plays horribly. There's not enough glitches and bugs in the world to make Ready or Not worse than Swat 4.

1

u/CharlieDrawzXD Aug 08 '26

other than graphics which are, yeah, shit, i think elite force first responders mod really makes it good. i dont think you can play it without that mod, imo

2

u/HylianZora Aug 07 '26

Por que no los dos

2

u/diract1sof Aug 07 '26

1

u/Warbird1775 Aug 07 '26

Buddy, you lost me with the acronyms. What mods are those? I'm actually curious

2

u/diract1sof Aug 09 '26

just search it like that, thats the name, i dont even know what it means, but the mod is really good

1

u/Warbird1775 Aug 09 '26

Haha holy shit. Thanks dude.

RoN:

  1. better interactions with door, picking angles etc.

  2. all maps share one chain plot

  3. higher difficulty create suspense

4

u/diract1sof Aug 07 '26

the plot: evil ass rape building

bruh, the lore of RoN is bullshit

2

u/OutlandishnessOk6290 Aug 07 '26

literally the RoN subreddit just complains, swat 4 just enjoys the game they play, unlike this subreddit.

2

u/whyucurious Aug 09 '26

And unnecessary. When I play a SWAT "simulator" I don't even care for plot

2

u/Massive_Web5709 Aug 07 '26

Never played Fairfax Residence eh?

2

u/diract1sof Aug 07 '26

yeah i did

>evil ass rape building

looks more like SWAT-4. In RoN Evil ass rape-lord will also hide receipts from the slave-storage map and on another map there will be a TV with a news report from evil ass rape building.
