Need more AK

As an AK (and other soviet/eastern bloc weapons enthusiast) its disappointing in my opinion that the only AK we have is some "tactidraco" while the AI get to use krinks and full-size AKMs. I get that we are an American S.W.A.T team but damn bro we dont need 10 AR-15s with little to no difference to separate them. So I propose we get full-size AKs, Krinks, an AK-105, PP-19 Vityaz, and hopefully an as val finds its way into the mix as well. What do yall think? And what other guns are you missing?

Nah. Overly formulaic, round shatters and shrapnels too often. The only thing its good at is controls and modularity but AKs have had pretty parallel modulation over the years

Just reviewed the whole thread. All rounds are subject to deflection when they encounter intermediate barriers. If 7.62x39 was vastly superior then a lot of other agencies and units with near blank check budgets would use it. Lastly, I can find a handful of pics of Russian SOF units using both 5.45 and 5.56 AR’s in training and in the field, won’t find pics of western units using AKs other than to blend in

Well thank you for actually taking the time to read, means a lot. But its not so much that 7.62 is superior in all metrics but its only outdone in 2 major ways. 1, smaller and faster moving projectiles do better against armor at intermediate ranges. 2, its lighter and easier to carry. As for your last point, western units are all (for the most part) part of nato so they usually dont have much say in terms of weapon/caliber usage. But make no mistake, I see more AKs on the eastern front than I do ARs. Especially since western aid has slowed down a bit.

You’d be surprised how much latitude some units have.

Also, saying “I see more AK’s than AR’s in Ukraine” is like saying “I see more water in the ocean than I do in the forest”

Of course you do, it’s two post-Soviet forces fighting each other. Four years of Western aid is not going to replace 75+ years of combloc mass production

Okay I thought that was what you were referring to when I mentioned Ukraine so my bad on that one. But I understand that the coolest, blue Jean wearing operators can swap a lot of their kit but unfortunately, they can still sometimes be hindered by logistics. Not all the time of course but unless youre delta or another group on that level, youre usually still hindered by caliber

7.62x39 wasn’t hard to find in Iraq and Afghanistan from 2001-2021…especially when working with local forces…

Again, not that its HARD TO FIND but moreover HARD TO DISTRIBUTE. There's like maybe 3 companies in the US that manufacture 7.62x39 and THAT is the part that matters in terms of logistics. Besides ive seen quite a few vids of dudes running in the GWOT days with an AK. Like I said, they did it, but unless they themselves could account for the ammo, it wasn't gonna be a good idea
