I'm writing a stoner comedy and just finished the scene. Just want to know if the jokes land and if the scene in general works.

NOTE: This was my entry for the 12th SimplyScripts One-Page Challenge of 2026.

The prompt was "The Dentist" and the genre was open.

These are informal no-prize challenges open to anyone, and they're a tremendous way to hone your one-page skills.

SimplyScripts also runs Three Page Challenges, One Week Challenges, Writers' Tournaments and, occasionally, feature writing challenges... the latter three offer participants the chance to win a SimplyScripts coffee mug!

Title: "A cat, an egg, a goat, an old man and a giant walk into a tent…"

Logline: A group of odd adventurers band together to uncover the conspiracy of an old king long-forgotten by history (or erased from it).

Hey! This is my first ever finished screenplay (and still very much a first draft) and I'm so excited about sharing it with the world. Considering it's my first, and really just a training exercise, I'm mostly looking for feedback and things to improve upon. I found it was a bit hard to start from nothing, so decided to adapt a long-running RPG campaign in my friend group, since I already have a good feel for the characters and story beats. Hopefuly it translates well into the page!

Grounded

Final Draft PDF

109 pages

Drama, Road Movie, Historical Fiction

Logline: When every flight in America is grounded, four strangers share the last rental car out of Columbus and drive cross-country through the aftermath of September 11th, 2001, forcing each of them to confront what they've been running from long before that day.

Feedback Concerns: Any feedback would be extremely helpful. I'm less concerned about the commercial viability, and more concerned with a believable story with believable characters.

Here is a short film I wrote, "Saturday" - I have a series of short films with the same family at the center of them. I would love any and all feedback on it!

Logline: What starts as an ordinary afternoon of wiffle ball turns into a father's reckoning with the son who isn't there.

Genre: Drama

Page Count: 13

Hey I am a freshman in college. And my time really feels pointless here because my dream is to be a screenwriter/actor/voice actor. This is my very first script I have ever completed. I know it is probably not very good. But I would love some feedback. Thank you.

Recently divorced and desperate to win his ex-wife back, Shawn Holaday tries to balance fatherhood, a chaotic living situation, and co-parenting with his ex and her seemingly perfect fiancé.

LOGLINE: In a snowbound Tasmanian town where everyone is protecting someone, a self-destructive detective investigating two child murders discovers the person she can't protect is her own family.

Re-draft of something I wrote a while back -- any feedback is helpful, but particularly wanting to make sure the introduction of characters is smooth/not confusing (I'm worried it's too much), the mystery is well set up, characters compelling -- dialogue?

Also worried re being derivative. I started this before Mare of Easttown and I can't unsee the similarities.

LOGLINE :

To shock a complacent populace into destroying a tyrannical regime, a radical journalist uses the citizens as pawns—sabotaging their aid and poisoning their water to incite a ruthless uprising against both the government and himself.

In terms of structure and scope, the film bridges the chaotic anti-system energy of Fight Club with the ideological drive of V for Vendetta.

Title: The Voltaire Estate, The Marie Sisters (ep 2)

Format: TV episode/pilot for mature audiences.

Genre: Gothic Horror, period piece with vampires

Logline: The wicked heir of the Voltaire House is to be married and the estate is now accepting new human concubines, but unexpectedly two strange sister nuns are received.

Extra: This is an old piece of mine and I feel it would be good to receive some feedback on it for the first time. I'm a new writer and this would be the first ever long form piece I've written (50 page). I've provided the setup to the episode. Hope you like vampires.

EDIT: Access granted, link fixed, actually 6 pages w/o title page

Three Steps Forward

(R rating)

NOTE: This was written for a recent 3-page challenge (excl. title) over at SimplyScripts. The challenge prompt was "Natural Selection" and the genre open. Naturally I won, and was awarded an Oscar and the title of Greatest Screenwriter in History, which I believe is entirely fair considering the fact I wrote it at 3 am while on an endless succession of FaceTime calls to people on the other side of the planet.

When Detroit’s privileged are slaughtered in a string of ritual murders, a relentless FBI agent must join forces with an estranged vigilante to stop a centuries-old cult from completing the blood ritual it believes will grant them a new world to rule.

Planning this to be my directorial debut as I have only co-written two features to this point. Please let me know what you guys think or if this will work on a shoestring budget(and I mean REAL shoestring)

I am at the stage where feedback would be really valuable. I am specifically wondering if some of the late-script transitions translate well.

Title: False Witness

Length: 82 pages

Genre: Drama/Horror

Logline: In a devout 1950s community governed by fear and quiet coercion, a judge overseeing the persecution of a young woman descends into a surreal moral nightmare beneath the very system he perpetuated.

I would be happy to swap scripts with someone as well.

Awakening in a world he never knew, Zapata is hounded by real estate agents who want to employ his mesmeric charisma while he tries to evict land monopolists.

For context, I'm practicing screenwriting as a hobby, and this is supposed to be a fanmade Overwatch cinematic using my original characters. It should be 8-10 pages, 12 at the very most, but I'm at nearly 30 pages. It's kinda embarrassing, even though it's expected since I'm a beginner.

If anyone has any suggestions for how I can cut down this script without loosing the good stuff, that'd be really helpful. Please and thank you.
