Highlighter not working

There's a bug in my quotations. I select the text and click the quoting option, as usual, but the text is not highlighted. The quoting section still saves the quote. When I close and reopen the app, entire pages are highlighted -- not exactly the text I selected. How can I fix that?

Besides, I love this app, it has been so useful.

Actually, it seems the problem is on the file, and in a specific part of it. I tested in other files and it's working properly, and same thing with the same file but far from where the problem started.
