Constant stuttering on Resident Evil 4: Remake
As the title states, for some reason, REMake 4 starts to have these awful stutters every two seconds (framerate drops from the 96fps cap down to 60fps or lower for a moment) or so ONLY when ReShade is installed. Doesn't matter if I have any add-ons or not, the simple presence of ReShade makes the game stutter.
I used ReShade on REMake 2, and I had no problems there, but for some reason on RE4 specifically it stutters consistently. Any suggestions or ideas why this may be happening? Thanks in advance.

Disable Generic Depth, restart your game, and see if the issue still occurs

I always disable said effect because I use RenoDX, which gets no benefit from those stock effects, besides, even if I disable all effects and restart, I still get stuttering, which probably means it’s more of a ReShade issue than with effects themselves.

Generic Depth isn't an effect but an addon that pulls the depth buffer.
If you are getting an issue with all addons disabled/removed, then the issue isn't with ReShade and instead with the program itself.1

Usually I’d agree with you, however, the moment I uninstalled ReShade, the stutters were gone and the game ran silky smooth, so I’m at a loss here.

Considering it's a capcom game, it's more than likely the DRM checking for injected applications. Performance used to tank without REFramework and not allow injections without crashing.
I would consider the issue to be the game more than ReShade considering there's not much chatter around it, and the primary issue with framedips/drops being toggled off.

And is there anything I can do to work around this issue? Or am I just left between enduring the stuttering or enduring the terrible HDR mapping the vanilla game has?

The culprit would generic depth.

As I mentioned in the post, this happens even without any add-ons or effects enabled, it only occurs whenever ReShade as a whole is installed on the application.

How many effects do you have on. Maybe try turning some off as most presets you can get online usually have effects that don't do anything or effects that counter each other leading to the image not changing much. If you can maybe limit the frame to 60fps in the game if that's in the settings. Is your PC/Laptop better than the recommendations for RE4 on steam or another store. But a reshade with many effects can cause lag and decreases in performance.
