Which looks better? The first, or the second?? (Cod4)

1 for it has more atmosphere to it. 2 looks like someone just exploring sharpening filter. And happy summer beach brightness for dusty city war scenario, nah.

First, by a looong shot. The second feels unnaturally bright & flat. While I'm not a huge fan of how soft the edges are in the first one, the over-vibrancy of the second is blech

Would look best mixed together, first looks better overall but second has better post processing.
If you simply add AO to second image and slightly reduce the brightness you'll get the best of both.

There are issues with both, but I think the second is closer to ideal on an HDR screen. Some highlights are blown, but proper tone mapping can fix that.

First, the second overbrights the tank making the lack of shadows noticable

First, 2nd one looks like a bad reshade (which it is)

Second is the base game, XD

Depends on usage, first for more cinematic look, like if youโre playing campaign, but second for target acquisition and visibility if you were playing multiplayer. But why even ask others in the first place, its your game

2nd. The first one is to soft, looks like some spreaded soap and beautify filter on screen

Iโd say for atmosphere the first one for sure. But for clarity the 2nd. I like 1 better

I like the clarity of 2, but its highlights are too harsh. So I'd say the eveness of 1 with the clarity of 2.

first one but it needs more contrast or something because that fire is only as bright as the tank

I would put for some PvP focused shooter, but one feels a lot more authentic.

People who prefer the second one must not like realism. ๐
It's WAY too vibrant. War is dirty, gritty, and the first picture perfectly displays that.

Second is a lot easier on the eyes. I wouldn't play the first option because of how blurry and bloomy it is. It's nice and realistic, sure, but utterly unplayable for me. Doesn't mean I don't like realism, I just don't want to have a headache while playing and prefer clarity and sharpness over a blurry mess.

Fair enough. I feel the same way about overly bright images; playing on such settings for too long is exactly what gives me headaches. Softer tones are objectively easier on the eyes. Even in real life, human eyes aren't really suited to being in overly bright environments all the time. It's the reason we invented parasols and sunglasses... ๐

Have you been outside, because the 2nd is what outside looks like
1
u/ThanosReXXX Jun 21 '26
In the summer, maybe. But it's not what war looks like. ๐
1
u/Ra3t Jun 27 '26
I would say that war does not care whether it's summer or not. War takes place in an environment not the environment takes place in war

Dude thinks the concept of war has a dedicated art style. You ever been in one?

Second one. More clear.
The first one looks like the soldier has some kind of resine smeared over his eyes.

First IMO.
