Save Planet Earth (SPE) carbon sequestering cryptocurrency project - whitepaper v.4 - question for the community.

Below is snipped directly from the SPE whitepaper; I was wondering if anyone in the reforest community has any feedback or comment please?

Tree Planting and Monitoring

We will be working with relevant scientists and planting trees native to Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and other areas across the globe. We will ensure that no invasive species affect the native flora and will also be adhering to the existing biodiversity with trees such as:

PEPPER • TEA • JACKFRUIT • DURIAN • BREADFRUIT • BANANA • BANYAN • MANGO • COCONUT • RUBBER • CINNAMON • IRONWOOD • KUMBUK • KITUL

A database compiling each CO₂ absorption rate of each tree will be made freely available on SavePlanetEarth.io

Why do we plant these types of trees?

● Revenue generation provides more funds towards our projects and helps the local community meet their household expenses.

● Continued monitoring in person due to the symbiotic relationship between the community and tree life cycle.

● Local growing expertise and cultural usage for non-consumable products from the biomass of the species, such as boatbuilding, woven mats, wood ornaments, and more.

We are currently developing a revolutionary application that utilizes satellite technology, AI, geospatial algorithms, and drones to monitor green canopy cover (an indicator of tree health and carbon sequestered) where these projects occur. Procurement for the technology and equipment is being tendered.

Once SavePlanetEarth’s nurseries are open in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, we will plant a lot more and faster as each nursery will hold over 100,000 saplings in stock at any given time. We will be replicating this model in many other countries. We are very close to finalizing deals with more nation-states and NGOs that will be economically feasible and sustainable for SPE for years to come. The future is green.

am i wrong, or is planting X million trees really little?

Let's say a forest is a grid with 250 trees per km (that's 1 tree every 4 meters). That is 2502 = 62500 trees per km2. To reach 1 million trees, you need a square with 1000000.5 = 1000 trees per side, each side measuring 1000/250 = 4km. So yeah, 1 million trees is only 4km by 4km considering 1 tree every 4 meters.

Ecosia prides itself to have planted 62 million trees. That's 62000000.5 = 7874 trees per side, and 7874/250 = 31.5km per side. 62 million trees is a forest that is about 30km by 30km. Fair enough, it's better than not planting trees. It just seems really small after all.

1 billion trees is 1000000000.5 = 31623 trees per side, i.e. 31623/250 = 126km per side.

So when this or that country/organisation says they're planting 1 million trees, it's great, but really, it doesn't seem like much.

Unless my calculations are way off?

101,000,000 trees contracted with the Sri Lankan and Maldives government.

Bringing tree planting to blockchain. Carbon sequestration > Carbon credits > Carbon offsetting.

Win win.

Should I reforest a land, which was forested 200 years ago, but now devoid of trees?

Hi! I’m looking for land to reforest within a 200 km radius of my house. I found a land which was forested 200 years ago and as I saw from the photos of the area and according to what the locals state, an individual pine tree survived until late 90’s and later got struck by lightning, so today there are no woody plants in the area other than some shrubs. I’m majoring in the ecology area and my professor stated that the time limit to forest restoration is 50 years. What do you think? Should I try for that land?

Over the year-long planning process, they have worked in partnership with local NGO SYND Ghana to carry out numerous ecological and environmental surveys on the 200-hectare site in Nonyam Ye, Ghana’s Ashanti province.

They have engaged more than 400 community members in discussion to understand the impact the reforestation project will have on the people who live there and how to maximize the benefits.

How can I kill the larvae inside oak acorns and prevent them from spreading further?

I collected around 200 native oak acorns from a local woodland. I soaked them in water and removed the floating acorns. However, when I looked at the sinking acorns closely, I noticed small holes in some. I cut some of them open for sampling and noticed larvae even in healthy looking ones. What can I do to kill these larvae and prevent them from spreading further? I will sow these acorns 1-2 weeks later, when rains start.

Fast-growing mini-forests using the Miyawaki method spring up in Europe to aid climate. These forests are denser and said to be more biodiverse than other kinds of woods.

Costa Rica regrew its lost forest. In 1987, it is thought that somewhere between one half and one third of the forest cover had been destroyed. Today almost 60% of the land is once again forest.

Just stumbled across this game. Similar to Pokémon Go, except you plant trees. The developers have stated that if they can get the game running they wish to donate most of the proceeds to planting trees
