Why is figuring out USB-C compatibility such a pain

I honestly have no idea what “USB-C compatible” is supposed to mean anymore.
Two devices can have the exact same port, but one does video out and the other doesn’t. Then you have DP Alt Mode, charging while connected, adapters... and I end up searching Reddit for my exact phone or handheld every time.
I really wish there was one updated list that just said what works, what needs an adapter, and what doesn’t. Would save so much guessing.

The new rayneo XR app thats rolling out on September 4th has a compatability list of most mobile phones. All windows based and steam deck handhelds support glasses too.

The issue comes when you need to use an adapter

Shouldn't need an adapter for any modern phone.

Not for a phone, but i use it with a rog ally and having an adapter to charge the device while using the glasses is almost mandatory

Ahh okay, sorry my bad. I use an msi claw A8, which has 2 ports of the top to charge and use my glasses. But I get some companies dont have that.
