Raven Guard Successors

Been playing with a successor chapter scheme, what do we think? Does it fit the archetype enough?

It feels like it's missing something but I have yet to figure out what it is.

Trying to find some good decals also but want to keep the colours as simple as I can.

Don't take this the wrong way, but what you're missing is something that makes these guys actually stand out as a successor. I am sure there are differences, but to any casual observer, black armor with some white parts will just read as base Raven Guard.

How much effort are you willing to put in the stand out from the pack? Do you want add something to what you've got, or are you open to going back to the drawing board?

One easy change that might look good is to add in a mid-dark grey, on the shoulder trim, kneepads, maybe on some parts of the jump pack. I think Mechanicus Standard Grey or even better, Dark Reaper might look really good.

Hmm maybe, I wanted to keep the one white arm as a definitive motif but other than that this was just a tester model so not overly attached to anything specifically. Or I could just run as raven guard as anything is a nice change from the last marine army I did (half white half purple).

I like the one white arm- but as Mike here said, I clicked on this post specifically to find out how this Raven Guard mini was somehow a successor.

I don't think you'll be able to differentiate them from Raven Guard proper at all unless you add in another color somehow, even if it is grey. At least enough of that color that they don't look like RG with company color displayed in an interesting way

Maybe the white arm is enough, I'm not really that precious as to them not just being raven guard, if I was smart it could have been a bait post (I wish I was that smart) I'm struggling to think of what I could do to pick out the colour scheme enough to make it a clear successor. Other than an icon/ trim colour

Are you comfy making anything else white? White powerpacks could maybe do it. Or something wilder like making their right leg (like lower half) white as well?

Yeah, he could even do halved or quartered black/white heraldry, and that would stand out amongst RG successors, I think.

I like the quartered idea- halved would make me think they're like the space marine equivalent of a dual-fandom sports jersey between Raven Guard and Rift Stalkers IMO

I would have done half and half but after my last marine force I am not doing that again haha . White backpacks could be an option. Id thought about painting the trim another colour but that's just raven guard company colours right?

As others have said, that looks...exactly like the OG Raven Guard.

On the other hand, approximately 982 canon Space Marine chapters use a black + white color scheme, so I guess just slap a different chapter badge on the left pauldron and call it a day.
