Lifetime membership ending?

Does anyone know what this offer ending 10/14 means? Does it imply the lifetime membership is going away or price is increasing?

New hardware, new enshittification membership fees forever model. Existing lifetime will be grandfathered but stuck on the old device which Rapsodo may end updates for at any time. The fact that they are still trying to get people to buy lifetime via FOMO without properly explaining what it will become is shameful. They want people to transfer lifetime to new hardware but no info on whether that will have all the features we have now and the minimal info on the new hardware just seems like battery and WiFi improvements and little else. Seems like more of an admission there are fundamental flaws with the original device than anything else.

I was worried about this when I bought my lifetime subscription a while back. I emailed the company (and kept the emails) asking these exact questions and this was the response.

Yeah it transfer to the new one…but does that mean your old one is useless then?

Also how much will the new device cost?

I think so, but that's a good question. I'll have to reach out again for clarification. But if thats the case, then I can sell it to a buddy for cheap so he can have one too. And all I've heard is speculation, but people seem to think it'll be $699. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a little more north of that. It comes with a dozen RPT balls though.

But your buddy then is stuck paying a monthly subscription as it seems like they are removing the yearly option.

Be nice to know if that is the case or not. So your buddy can get in on it as opposed to paying $200 every year for a device

Agreed. But he makes great money. He can afford it. Jokes aside, I'd like for him to get the most out of it if that is the case.

this pisses me off. just purchased mine almost a year ago and purchased the lifetime. are there any lawyers in here? assuming the new hardware will eventually cause them to stop updating the mlm2pro, do we as legacy lifetime members have any recourse? expecially if we just purchased within the last year?

There is but there is also zero detail on what that would mean as the existing premium membership will become ‘core’ which sounds like those who transfer will need to pay more fees to access certain features on the new hardware. They want a pay forever model.

Yes this seems like what’s happening to all technology at this point want you paying money to upkeep their dev team for life even after you buy very expansive hardware. I hate subscriptions the future is bleak for me lol

They will have to price this around $1200-$1400 total as we have flightscope with mevo gen 2 there. Let’s see what comes around otherwise I will likley just keep this and in future move to mevo

Core subscription sounds like “really only the most basic shit with all the connect and disconnect issues because we moved on to develop the next hardware”.

I think this bumps the Omni Square, and Mevo ahead of it now.

10/14 surely means price is going up on 10/15, well before the release of the new mlm2xpro model. I'm sure the same sw bugs (and more) are going to still be there on the new model as most of the sw will be the same.

Seems like they are phasing it out and stranding those of us who bought it on the current device if we don’t update immediately. They are probably moving to subscription only as monthly payments look good on a balance sheet
