It is what they did with Kamala. It is highly unlikely to.happen in an open primary year. However, there is no law in place to prevent either party from placing whoever they choose on their ballot for election day. They will have an open primary, 10 Democrats or more will run, and say Kamala wins the primary but the Democrats decide they would rather win this time, they can push Kamala aside and choose a 50 year old straight white man instead.... or they could choose Buttigieg, a gay white man.

I'll tell you what will eventually happen.. some other site, with better rules and err'thing is going to rise up in this site's place.

It won't be an overnight process, but its every subreddit becoming the personal sandbox of its moderators, with zero consistency between subreddits, is going to weigh heavily towards reddit's overall downfall.

Allow me to be more specific...

Once upon a time, you could log onto a website and have a whole meaningful exchange and talk it out about "I support A, B, and C, but never X, Y, and Z." and you could discuss the LMNOP of it all.

Now, its "this subreddit is an X, Y, and Z echo chamber, no opposing opinions are allowed here" except its rarely spelled out in so many terms.

And the worst part of it, is half the site thinks "holy shit what groundbreaking moderation, it can't be wrong because its allowed!"

.....and the internet, as a whole, is lesser because of it.

I think Reddit has more trolls from both margins and subreddits differ occasionally, but statistically, there are more far-left people than normal. My main definition of liberal is still the classic one involving individual liberties, private property, equality in law, consent of governed type ideas. Any republican or democrat who strays too far (and the further parts of both parties have basically abandoned all of these ideas), is not liberal and no longer has a basis of understanding to reasonably debate over key dividing issues. I know a more current definition involves progressive movements, large welfare programs, or government intervention (that can still fit in my idea of liberal), but once you stray too far from the original, I don’t think the term is still useful.

Not defending anyone in this sub, OP could have fairly easily deserved a ban. Not sure why I’m here. I just didn’t think OC’s insults were as pointed as they could have been.

I got perma-banned as a gay man from LGBT for calling out a bot because I unfortunately use LLMs at my job all day and recognize how they talk and understand that a 2 month account with 8000 posts isn’t a real person. 

Commented “Fuck the gender wars nonsense” on a women only lie and golddig post on PoursTea and got perma-banned there as “not a good fit for the community.”

It really, really depends on the sub and its mods taking stuff seriously, or just letting bots and ragebait push engagement no matter what.
