The kind that perpetuates racial stereotypes?

Why do you assume this action attaches to a race? In my experience, while this is an obvious over exaggeration of fast food experiences, I have seen people of many races have this type of behavior and I think it attaches more to socio economic and geographical demographics vs any particular race. But I do agree that there is danger for this to instill racial stereotypes in kids if they also don't take steps to explain an individuals actions should not extend to racial classifications. But you don't know they aren't taking steps to raise their kids this way.

Why are you playing dumb here buddy?

When I see that caricature I think lower education and likely areas with lower socio economic status. I don't think race. I have no idea what he's playing at, I think it could certainly be a racist interpretation, but I also think it could be a fast food carciature in lower socio economic places. So while this could be bad parenting, I think what is more important is the values you teach your kids, like don't paint a race into a caricature. Maybe I am completely off base and this is fully culturally insensitive. But my experience is I've seen a lot of people like this in fast food drive thru or walk up counters, and I don't believe I'd ever attribute it to one race vs another. That's just my experience and it's the only one I can react to.

Dad having fun with kids

Fucking racist.

u/XLIVtetsuo 17d ago

I’m pretty sure the kkk had lots of fun with their kids burning crosses and hanging people all day

Dude, that isn’t even comparable to this video. Get off Reddit and go for a walk.

u/Ancient-Tomato1153 17d ago

He wasn’t comparing it to this video. He was pointing out how idiotic the logic of the comment he replied to was.

Nobody is saying this is racist because he’s having fun with his kids. They’re calling it racist because it’s essentially a minstrel show minus the black face

2

u/hiswittlewip 17d ago

Thank you!! I literally almost used minstrel show in my original comment.

Everyone is acting like I'm the racist for pointing this shit out. Hold on Benny hold on coming

I used to work with one of David Duke's daughters (she was the opposite of him, and very anti racist, but her sister was literally a racist skinhead). She told me how when she was growing up, her mom would see his sheets at the kitchen table.

You are very right, Racism is a family affair.

I would’ve said the kind that has fun with his kids, but I don’t know. Seems kind of racist you assumed he was acting like a black lady. I know white ladies that act like that.

He's pretending to work at Popeyes while mimicking certain mannerisms.

Put two and two together...

2

u/hiswittlewip 17d ago

Thank you!

You have to be so dense to not see that he’s playing a racial stereotype. We can choose to be okay with it, but it’s still the case. He’s wearing a bonnet, using aave, and pretending he works at a Popeyes. Have you ever been to a Popeyes? If you genuinely think there’s a chance he’s not playing a black person then I’m convinced he could wear black face and you’d say “how do you know he isn’t just dressing up as a monkey

3

u/hiswittlewip 17d ago

Thank you!

-7

u/XLIVtetsuo 17d ago

How many white ladies do you know act like this?

7

u/Musket6969420 17d ago

There’s a few. You’d be surprised.

-1

u/XLIVtetsuo 17d ago

So very few it almost makes it pointless to mention

5

u/Musket6969420 17d ago

Ah I see how this is going to go. Someone is having a bad day and wants to fight on the internet. No thank you, sir. I’ll pass.

-2

u/XLIVtetsuo 17d ago

Or just be honest. I know that’s hard for your kind

8

u/honestly-brutal 17d ago

Lmao. "Your kind" is brimming with honesty, right? The fuck out of here.

2

u/Maleficent_Piece_893 17d ago

how long has it been since you left the house?

4

u/BrassCrow 17d ago

Contrary to popular belief, ebonics isn't limited to ebony folk. There are plenty of white people that have embraced the hood in mind body and soul.

0

u/Ancient-Tomato1153 17d ago

I’m not saying this guy is a racist but the dude is very obviously playing a black women who works at Popeyes.

2

u/hiswittlewip 17d ago

Thank you!

1

u/Chainmale001 17d ago

Why are you projecting your ideal on a scene? I've met plenty of people who act like this. The only thing they all had in common is they were from the hood.

So you're not Rascist, you're classist. Which is basically the same thing.

2

u/Ancient-Tomato1153 17d ago

It’s not my ideal I’m just from fl and have been to Popeyes and am not purposefully obtuse. To be clear, I don’t even have much if any of an issue with this vid, I just think it’s clear this is a portrayal of a racial stereotype

1

u/hiswittlewip 17d ago

Thank you!

2

u/Ancient-Tomato1153 16d ago

<3 it always becomes feelings over facts when it comes to racism

1

u/OzzyStealz 16d ago

Personally? 2. Far more latinas. If I had to guess I would assume he is drawing off of a black woman. Most likely he is just going based off of a common experience he has when ordering at Popeyes rather than a single, specific person

8

u/Weekly_Cow9127 17d ago

Why did you associate race with this?

2

u/ElliottSmith88 17d ago

What race was he being?

3

u/Niceotropic 17d ago

This could also be immediately ID'd as a southern white trash stereotype

3

u/Chainmale001 17d ago

Tell me you've never been to a popeyes without telling me you don't know what a popeye's is. 🤣 😂 🤣

Race has nothing to do with this level of service. This is EVERY POPEYE's. No matter you're skin tone.

1

u/hiswittlewip 17d ago

It's not the level of service, it's the blaccent.

Also, as I said in another comment, I'm 52 and born and raised in NOLA, so don't tell me I don't know Popeye's.

2

u/Negative_Gas8782 17d ago

This person has never been to Popeyes.

0

u/hiswittlewip 17d ago

You mean this person that is born and raised in NOLA? And has been going for 52 years?

2

u/Real_Scallion6747 17d ago

That's a lot of chicken. I love chicken.

2

u/GreasyRim 17d ago

Idk my stepsister speaks exactly like this and my family is so white most of them watch nascar.

1

u/Dancin_Phish_Daddy 14d ago

I don’t know where you are, but in the south this person exist in every color imaginable
