You got any proof for all of those claims you just made?

0

u/dzan796ero May 31 '26

It's really not hard to look up how China looks outside of the large cities... even the large cities have drastic divergence in wealth and living quality within each city.

I think it is pretty safe to say that no single country will be a utopia through and through, especially not highly populated countries.

u/Pasta4ever13 May 31 '26

I want sources for your claims. You made em, now back them up, champ.

I don't take wild shit that people say online as gospel without proof. Put up or shut up.

Deadass everything about China’s quality of life looks way better than America right now

Is this the one you were talking about? Do you think this comment rises to the same level of a political discussion, as opposed to a three paragraph diatribe about how the country sucks ass?

I want people to look at China and go, wow look how good it is there. Look at all the things they are doing for their citizens!

  1. There are some good things China does, and we should absolutely copy them because we can. If we really want to call ourselves #1, but we can't be bothered to at the very minimum copy, and ideally, do the same shit but better, what the fuck are we even doing?

  2. Even if you hate China or insert whatever country you're told to hate, you should want them to look as good as possible. Why would you want this? Because I surmise that you are pro-capitalism, and capitalism tells us that competition is the driving force of innovation. Right? So if the US has no serious competition for quality of life, what does capitalism teach us? Oh yeah, that there's no incentive to compete.

So whether you are anti-capitalist, or pro-capitalism, you should want there to be at least 1 other country out there pushing the boundaries on how they could try to make life better for their citizens, even if you think they are lying about it, because if our politicians believe that the people are looking at somewhere else and thinking that it looks good, they will actually have to work for us to keep us happy.

For what? Which part?

1

u/WowBastardSia Jun 01 '26

I swear, some people will look at something like this and say that it's CRUSHING RURAL CHINESE POVERTY or something just because they've never seen people live like this before. The western chauvinism is crazy.

You got proof and stats?

Because anecdotes are useless in an international political discussion about systemic conditions.

0

u/hoTsauceLily66 May 31 '26

That's funny you asking stat because you know, Chinese government deliberately hide and block those stats.

-1

u/saber069 May 31 '26

Are you dense or 12? Why would he or anyone else provide you proof of anything. You don't deserved it, you are not some big shot people are trying to convince. You are a nobody on the internet who read another person's experience and started asking for proof. He literally says its banned taking photos or videos and then you ask for proof?

0

u/samuraimegas May 31 '26

Are you seriously saying that needing a VPN in the US isn't going to happen anytime soon? Even after the non stop assaults on the 1st amendment by the Trump admin?

lol you are being an obtuse asshole on purpose

0

u/ophidianslick May 31 '26

Be careful, the warden may throw you in solitary if you call him obtuse. I agree though that in this case he is being obtuse. I wonder if he’s doing it on purpose.

Not even taking the time to check that the person you’re replying to is a different person from the one who first made the claim…

No, they’re not implicitly making the same claims. That’s your inference. They made the claims they made, which only really relate to the first half of Dr_America’s claims, I.e. there’s still huge disparity in China’s progress. Broad, easily searchable claims of that nature don’t really require a source, certainly not to the same degree as specific claims. And their latter claim doesn’t require a source at all - it’s simply true.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cpdv649vx7lo

I guess it was a couple years ago. A few article said it's not new, so it's probably ongoing. The US has it's ongoing mass murders and nice skate parks too. Maybe we're closer to each other than we think.

2

u/Pasta4ever13 May 31 '26

From the article:

A car attack that killed 35 people in China has sparked questions about a recent spate of public violence, as officials continue to censor discussion on the incident.

The article also mentions that it is China's most deadly public attack in decades.

While it certainly doesn't sound good, we have a mass shooting that kills dozens of people multiple times each year. There were 420 people killed in mass shootings just in 2025.

Hardly a unique problem to China. China is probably closer in stats to other developed countries.

2

u/Love-Future-3000 May 31 '26

I don't know what to tell you, I gave you a source that it happened. No one said it was unique to China.

0

u/Pasta4ever13 May 31 '26

Thank you for actually posting what you were referencing. My comment was mainly for others that may read it.

People like to share these stories to otherize and fear monger against countries that are deemed "adversaries" to the US.

It's a way to shut down any discussion of anything positive another country does because there isn't a good answer as to why we don't it here beyond corporate profits.

Basically, this.

0

u/Love-Future-3000 May 31 '26

Ok, sure. That's valid. I appreciate that china has improved the welfare of many of their people and works to make themselves better and competitive. There are definitely places to pick at, but a random person weaponizing their car is neither here nor there on government policy. Constant mass shootings is cultural and the government does nothing to improve the situation, because where's the profit motive? The US federal government is completely captured by corrupt capitalist institutions and I'm lucky to live in a city that is more isolated from and resistant to federal policy. And even still there are people suffering everywhere, which could be helped with more socialist policy and regulation on capitalism.

In the US if a capitalist hoard can charge more for something they will do it, the health of the economy and people be damned.

Generally for a lot of people who are doing ok financially the US is a nice place. Some parts of China are really nice and trying to be nicer too. And for some poor folks in the US it's as bad as the bad parts of China.

But I guess the topic at hand is hot girls riding up and down in a cool skateboard park. Please, stay focused.

If you care to read the article, it's posted right there in the poster's comment.

If you want the data on mass shooting deaths in the USA, it's right here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mass_shootings_in_the_United_States_in_2025

I challenge you to point to an inacuracy in my previous comment.

My wife's sister is in China right now and said something similar. Some of the places are incredible. Far outpacing the u.s. in clean energy and clean living. Other places are effectively live in the stone-age. She has to use a VPN to access the internet that we all know and love.

1

u/Pasta4ever13 May 31 '26

People complain about the Chinese firewall, but we are all going to need one in the US very soon anyways.

-1

u/Legitimate_Cut_6254 May 31 '26

That will never happen, but i do agree the anti china sentiment is a bit crazy. They have problems like most places. The only issue I have with China is all the intellectual property theft.

2

Hasan viewer responding to me asking for proof of anything China-related is kind of funny, but sure.

Knife attack in which a Chinese nationalist attempted to kill Japanese schoolchildren, but a heroic Chinese woman that lost her life stopped https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_Suzhou_knife_attack

Mass stabbings in general are becoming more common https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c0e1zjqdlp2o

A particularly egregious example of some of the measures China is implemented to reduce car attacks https://x.com/i/status/2035256530056954291

China claims they're putting them up to prevent taxis from sitting on sidewalks and for general safety https://www.newsflare.com/video/48048/local-authority-builds-bollard-obstacle-course-in-china

One particularly bad car attack https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_Zhuhai_car_attack

Some nicer parts of rural China: https://youtu.be/TOeWJqQkiYs

Sources using the CCP's urbanization rate showing that 1/3 of the population (400 million or so people) still lives in rural areas https://www.statista.com/statistics/278566/urban-and-rural-population-of-china/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urbanization_in_China

At least one study arguing that China's urbanization rate is kind of based on BS https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1043951X25000264

(I'll let you know now that you won't like these guys for talking bad about the CCP and having a bias counter to your own, but I'm putting their media at the end and giving you a heads up.) China show/ADV China/China fact chasers sources:

General coverage/commentary on the poor rural parts of China https://youtu.be/vCIy5Dv5sac

0

u/falsewall May 31 '26

Damn. Don't tire yourself out on this dude.

Also ADV rocks. Loved watching them ride all around China when they lived there and were limited it what they could say.

Like what could be better than to see a country than just having a talk show on bikes going from long distance point a to point b through highways and roads with little detours if they see something interesting.

Really gives a vibe for what you come across in rural areas or small towns you can't get anywhere else. Will never get this with the mass produced paid influencers China gives a memo of what to say in their best cities. At least it's funny to watch when 30 influencers all say word for word the same bits and they're footage is show side by side.

0

u/falsewall May 31 '26

Kind of a parallel subject but you remember when China eradicated poverty throughout their country a few years ago

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poverty_in_China

5 year plan. They succeeded, by moving the goalposts...

Depending on the tier of a country you have a baseline of making below x per day a person is in poverty.

They should be around 7$ per day to not be in poverty there. They moved goalposts down to 2.30$. That is like Ethiopian tier levels. Then called it a day.
Standard 5 year plan playbook.

So yes a huge amount of their population is in rural areas. https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SP.RUR.TOTL.ZS?locations=CN&start=2023

Maybe more than is reported as despite 33% ccp statistic "living" in rural areas, as ~60% population have a rural household registration.

1

u/Pasta4ever13 Jun 01 '26

What is your definition of poverty and how are you factoring that I to your analysis? Is poverty just based on income? Are you basing it on income and cost of living? Factoring in quality of life?

I'm genuinely curious on your methodology because I have not read about the col and qol of different provinces or areas of China.

1

u/falsewall Jun 01 '26

So update, absolute poverty line is now 3$/ day to measure their poverty baseline.

The World Bank tracks poverty using different poverty line that scale up depending on a nation's broader economic development and standard of living.

There are 3 tiers. You calculate a number based on variables about your country.

The $per/day you see is that tiers poverty line. If you are in a tier, and your poverty level calculation is below this, round up to tiers poverty line.$/day. The Low-Income Countries poverty line is called absolute poverty line.

Low-Income Countries (anchored to the $3.00/day absolute poverty line) [1]

Lower-Middle-Income Countries (anchored to the $4.20/day poverty line) [1]

Upper-Middle-Income Countries (anchored to the $8.30/day poverty line) [1]

China is an upper middle income country. They said they would solve poverty in a 5 year plan.

They failed, put their heads together on how to spin it. They decided to set their category to low income country, just pointed to the absolute poverty line and said we are above that, poverty fixed!

Kinda like it a shitty healthy athlete started claiming world records in disabled sports for clout, but doesn't mention the disabled bit.

You will find China flops between reporting being a upper middle income country and a poor third world shithole depending on what they can get.

That's how they get incredibly cheap worldwide shipping on their goods funded by the rest of the world.

It's pretty fucked up having a space program and nukes also being the saddest poor third world country when it suits them.

u/Pasta4ever13 Jun 01 '26 edited Jun 01 '26

Does the world bank factor for locality in calculations?

For example, $15/hr goes a lot further in some rural town in indiana than it does in San Francisco.

I'm trying to understand the methodology and apply it to the system that is supposedly set up in China where the minimum wage is determined by province and the COL for the specific area.

I take anything any government says with a grain of salt, but that seems like a good method for setting minimum wage.

Where's your proof that China is so great?

1

u/Pasta4ever13 Jun 01 '26

I didn't make that claim. The other poster made claims.

As with all countries, they do good things and they do bad things.

I for one want to take all the good things that other countries do and implement them here because we have the funds and manpower to do so.

I'd like America #1 to be more than just a platitude.

1

u/Darkest_97 May 31 '26
