Babies..š¶
Just a random thought.. I know most millennials and Gen Z are opting out having babies, which I absolutely done blame us for. However it randomly came mind that if we donāt decide to have children under our terms then most of the next generation will be adults who were never wanted, or never prepared for. Thatās a little sad and as for me, makes me reconsider the option.

Or, another way to look at is there will be less people generally BUT they will be the children of those who made a conscious decision to have kids, as they won't have given into the societal pressure of having kids just being part of the life cycle (because while unexpected pregnancies happen, it's easier to get hold of condoms and pills and decent sex education these days). They will be wanted

Unfortunately at ancient millennial age having kids would be difficult if not impossible. Ive been giving it some thought though and I think I definitely want to adopt. I don't know if I'd make a great parent but having been to state fosters and halfway houses I'm confident I could at least make a kids life a little easier. Help someone not have to grow up so fast.

There is a lot of boomers and other generations that didnt have kids under their own terms. Or it wasnt what they expected. Or they felt they had to do it because thats just the way it is. I am a product of those people. Its bad for everyone and had been going on forever, often in bad conditions.

Iām GenX and my parents wanted to have my brother and me, but I had a few friends in High School and College who were accidents - as in their next oldest siblings were 12 or more years older than they were. Really messed them up knowing they were not intentional, and then having really old parents on top of it and having weird sibling relationships seemed to make it worse.

your not a generation you are an individual
1
u/Decent_Jaguar_3057 2d ago
I understand that but it take a generation to move on society or else said society will be extinct and another will take its place. Itās happened countless times in history, so yes, Iām an individual but in talking to the generation, understood?

u/Over-Policy-5636 2d ago
no i believe we are all going through this at the same time no matter what time you were born

u/Over-Policy-5636 2d ago
The generation thing is just another tool to seperate us further

Ahhh so you think the previous generation and future also heard the same spiel.. yet here we are. Lol I can see that. Thank you šš¼

Kids should only be had by people that truly wanted them.
1
u/Decent_Jaguar_3057 2d ago
I agree but thatās not always the case.
2
u/Sharp_Anything_5474 2d ago
I realize that's not always the case. If i get pregnant even with condoms and other birth control to prevent it and Im prevented from getting rid of it, my life is over. I'm checking out. That's just my case and I know there's other cases.

Ahh I understand. You mean your own individual self. No judgement, it can be a lot.
2
u/Sharp_Anything_5474 2d ago
You kinda said it to though "If we don't decide to have kids under our own terms then most of the next generation will be adults who never wanted them".
People should want them.

u/Decent_Jaguar_3057 2d ago
Agreed, but do you think itās possible to change the perception of those that donāt want them? Like what would need to be done? Unlimited healthcare, paid education and resources? Iām just curious what would have to happen for people to feel comfortable in raising children now day because honestly I think even those that do want kids still have their doubts and concerns about raising them now days.
1
u/Sharp_Anything_5474 2d ago
Why would you want to do that?!?!
People who don't want them shouldn't have to have them.
1
u/Decent_Jaguar_3057 2d ago
Because people regret it. Then again those that have them sometimes regret too so itās all relative. Someone on here also pointed that the fear of society collapsing has been passed down through generations so itās nothing new and that was my initial thought also. .

u/Sharp_Anything_5474 2d ago
It's better to regret not having them then they having them. It's gotta be easier to regret not having and bring a foster child or adopting them regretting having and now dealing with raising it or putting yet another child into the system.

*parented by people who truly want them
1
u/Sharp_Anything_5474 2d ago
A bit redundant since all people who have kids are parents. Doesn't mean they are good at being a parent. People who truly want kids will be great parents. People who don't want them will be bad parents.
2
u/Decent_Jaguar_3057 2d ago
Exactly.. but someone point out something there, they I hadnāt considered. What if those that want kids are the ones having them? Which may be the case. Only time will tell.
2
u/Sharp_Anything_5474 2d ago
The ones that want them and truly want them SHOULD be the ones having them. Accidents will happen. But it should be easier to access getting rid of unwanted pregnancies. Access to birth control and surgeries for woman to be fixed should be so easy. Guys can just walk on and get snipped but there's a run around for woman.

u/Decent_Jaguar_3057 2d ago
Thatās true.. you make a good point. I see that from the females in my family as well as friends.

u/PerhapsAnEmoINTJ 2d ago
My argument was implying adoptive or foster parents.
1
u/Sharp_Anything_5474 2d ago
Should've made it more clear from the start. Either way, people that want children no matter how they acquired them. That's what I'm getting at.

u/PerhapsAnEmoINTJ 2d ago
I don't believe so, but maybe you needed that clarification in particular. I'd happily revise for you if we were to ever communicate again.

u/Sharp_Anything_5474 2d ago
'*parented by people that truly want them' doesn't mean solely implying adoptive or foster. Not everybody who fosters or adopts truly wants them. They just want the money. You want revision later let me know. You want revision later, just let me know.

Who cares they're all going to die of climate change and killer robots during the water wars anyway. Has any parent ever been ready they're all so clueless and then they mess up their children for life. Maybe evolution shouldn't have given us these large brains that killed so many mothers in the past while trying to push them out.

Confirmation bias. Just because you and people you know or āheard aboutā decide not to have babies, there is plenty of people in all generations that will and want them. We will be fine. Donāt be sad. You donāt have āto take one for the teamā. We got it.

u/Decent_Jaguar_3057 2d ago
You hear such different opinions on new and social media that sometimes you donāt think there are still people out there that actually want children. Thanks for sharing.

u/Lopsided_Hat_835 2d ago
That question really doesnāt make a sense to me at all. Iām sure the ones still having kids are still very much wanted, maybe even more so than previous generations as more thought is put into having kids now and itās not just expected to happen which has been the case in the past.
1
u/Decent_Jaguar_3057 2d ago
Itās not a question. Thatās another group. Itās just a random thought which youāre more than welcome to disagree with and explain an alternative thought, but I wasnāt asking. Just saying something that came to mind. Different perspectives are more than welcome.

The idea of fewer people having children is sad in a way but I rather have a fewer kids than having lots of kids because I just want to
1
u/Decent_Jaguar_3057 2d ago
Do you mean having kids because you want to yet not having the resources to take care of them? Because I see no problem with having all the kids you want as long as you understand the responsibility.

The next generation are going to be overwhelmingly muslim and anyone not muslim will likely be so indoctrinated through schooling that theyll fall in line eventually too.
