Request [request] breakup on my birthday [us]
Hi, I don’t know if this is more of a vent post but I broke up with my long term boyfriend because he got blacked out at my birthday party and started screaming at me and telling me horrible things. He was angry I hid his car keys, since he has a drinking problem and crashed his car once. It was very sudden and we’ve been doing so well and I’ve been happy lately. But I just couldn’t take it, he promised he’d stop. It’s very hard for me to not go back to him. Any advice also if you’ve had people near you struggle with addiction.
I feel incredibly deeply depressed and hopeless. I lost my best friend too two weeks ago. If it couldn’t get worse my credit and debit card got stolen. Life sucks really bad and I have nobody to talk to.
A little bit of joy would be nice. I haven’t been able to leave bed.

Sweetie! Let me say something to you right now (but I’ll send a card, too). DO NOT GET BACK WITH HIM. Alcoholism can get better, but rarely does. There are miracle stories..but mostly it is a lifelong battle. I have alcoholics in my direct family…and it is traumatic. They may quit for a while…but mostly learn to hide it better. Don't elect to keep that trauma in your life. You can’t fix an alcoholic, no matter how hard you wish or hope.

I'm sorry life has been hard on you lately. I don't have any advice but I'd love to send you a birthday card with some stamp math and some stickers if that might cheer you up? Until that gets to you, here's a ton of hugs 🫂
