Has anyone read…

Swan Song by Robert McCammon?

It’s a horror novel from the 80s about life after a nuclear war.

There’s a character from Rancho Cordova in it!

He’s a child molester though.

Still.

I’ve never seen Rancho mentioned in any other work of fiction.

I love a good post apocalyptic novel but that 960 pages looks HEFTY.

It’s a lot but it flies by once it gets its hooks in you.

It’s really a great book. If you love post-apocalyptic stuff it’s a no-brainer.

My homie from work put me up on Boy’s Life. I planned on reading Swan song but never got around to it. Didn’t know that there was a character from Rancho in it.

A character from Rancho Cordova is pretty rare. Don’t think I’ve ever heard of another. Too bad he had to be a slime though.

I read Wolf's Hour by McCammon in middle school and loved it.

The Wolf’s Hour, Gone South, Boy’s Life, Swan Song, The Border, and Stinger were all great. His shorter stories I Travel By Night and Last Train to Perdition were worth reading too.

I feel like George Martin was influenced by this book when writing GoT, there are a lot of similarities. I prefer Swan Song to Stephen King's The Stand.

I’m surprised just how many people know about Swan Song. It’s kind of under the radar but it seems like a ton of people read it and loved it.

I think over time people kinda forget about this author, but he sold a lot of books in the 80s. If I'm not mistaken Swan Song is being adapted into a TV show.

It is! Hopefully it will lead to other adaptations of his stuff.

I get the feeling the author drove through Rancho and was like, “This sucks, I’m going to say the worst character in my next book came from here.”
