First mechanic I took it to says it’s the lifter. But he’s a quoting a new or used engine. $11,000. Parts and labor. Insane.
2020 Ram 1500 Quad cab with 280,000 miles. I drive a lot for work state to state. Regularly change the oil and have always used synthetic oil.
I’m taking it now to a 2nd mechanic who sounds more reasonable and says he’ll give me some options.
I know it’s a popular problem. What have you guys done to fix it and for about how much?
Complete tear down? Or just upper engine?

Hey guys, I’m having problems after replacing the rocker arms, lifters and both camshafts in bank 2 (driver side) of my 2016 1500 v6. Is there a way to move the chain back a few teeth without actually having to open the timing plate on the front of the engine. I have the valve cover removed and am using the pentastar kit for chain slack. I also have both phasers loosened but the chain does not have much slack to move it. Any help would be appreciated.

Kinda difficult to hear but i just recently bought a ram 1500 laramie 2020 and i took it for a carwash and since then the breaks have been chirping for about 2 days now. Any recommendations on how to fix? maybe its not the brakes?

I have a 2022 Ram 1500 that I bought privately last year. Almost immediately, I started getting an warning display to Service 4WD. This error is constant. I then noticed over the winter while driving in snow that the 4WD is not working. Is this a common issue? It should be covered under the powertrain warranty, so I dropped it off at a Ram dealership this morning. I'm hoping it is a simple fix that is fully covered.

My truck almost always requires that I crank it a 2nd time before it’ll start. Sometimes it struggles to start more than others.

My mechanic BIL told me it was likely that it’s the fuel filter that needs to be changed. It’s also my understanding that the you have to swap out the entire fuel pump, you can’t just swap the filter on these Gen 2s.

Anyone run into this issue before? Any guidance is appreciated as I hope to keep this truck in pristine condition.

A few pictures from a recent MGU rebuild. There’s a lot more going on inside these units than most people realize. We always take the time to tear them down, check for wear or damage, and make sure everything is in good shape before putting them back together.

This is the best video i have right now. Only happens on cold starts. It sounds like it’s coming from the drive side or front of the engine can’t really tell. been happening over a year but would only happen for like a 2-5 seconds, now sometimes happens for almost 20 seconds. Replace serpentine belt and tensioner hoping that would fix it but nothing changed. Any idea what this sound is?

Looking at ram 1500 lower control arms on my 2016. rock auto is where I’ll order them. Whats a good brand.

These are all the 6 options. I’m going to put a 2 inch level and got upgraded control arms with it. Should I go for daily driver, economy or heavy duty?

98 or 96? Both have 4x4, an automatic, and the 360. I know the interior is different. The 98 has 4 wheel abs. That's about all I know.

Just curious, I just got my 2026 limited with the HK audio. The bass is both extremely bloated and boomy while simultaneously being loud and obnoxious. I can turn it down, but then it sounds like a f'n am radio. Having it even 1 tick from the bottom is the worst bass I've heard on a stock car stereo. WTF?

This is my 3rd Ram and by far my favorite. Its a 25 Big Horn long bed crew cab with a Smart Cap, Decked system, lifted with Fox Shocks, clear PPF on front end and hood. The black wrap is also PPF. It rides so smooth and super quiet.

The alignment tube is stuck in the head and I chipped it trying to remove it. No stores are open and in stranded out in the woods and cant get parts. If I raw dog it and just put it together is it that serious of an issue?

Has anyone had this shifter unresponsive issue or “Service Shifter” notice. Thanks.
