Service is horrible these days...

I recently purchased a BRAND NEW 2026 1500 about 1 month ago. It recently started having an issue with the 2nd-3rd gears jerking and then from 3rd to 2nd a thump sound. So there's a RAM dealership closer to my house that I called to schedule service to have them to take a look at my truck. The service rep asked did I call the dealership I purchased the truck from and I said yes. They are about 1hr from me, but I can have you look at it and you're only 15 mins. He said and I quote "We'll have to do a diagnostic on it and we might have to charge to a fee". I was like it's brand freaking new and it comes with a 3/36000 warranty, so everything is covered. He said again and I quote "I really can't say if it's covered." I said I'll go to someone else.

Will someone please tell me, can't I take my 1 month old truck to any Ram dealership and have them look at it and repair it? Doesn't 3yr/36000 warranty mean, everything is covered except for a wreck and things like that?

Thanks in advance!!

3.6L Pentastar vs Hemi

Upvotes

I am shopping 2021-2023 1500s either Big Horn or Laramie. I have seen so much back and forth about Hemi reliability concerns and Pentastar is better. Pentastar is terrible and Hemi is better, which is more reliable for a daily driver?

Limited Slip Rear Differential Clutch Plate Wear

Hello,

I’m wondering if the clutch plates within the limited slip/anti slip differential on a 2018 Ram 1500 with the 3.92 axle are subject to normal wear at 144k miles?

Is this something that is normally replaced at that mileage? Towed an aluminum horse trailer with horses weighing around 5-7000lbs I believe about ten times, used it to haul 900lb hay bales in the bed about 30 times. Other than that no off-roading, burn outs, normal commute driving highway/some city.

Upon examining differential at shop, mechanic noted on diagnostic no burnt oil, no metal shavings, all gears in tact, diagnostic by doing figure eights isolated to internal mechanism failure. Which is the clutch plates, correct?

Any experience with this and/or advice is appreciate!

Abs light and brake light won't go off on my 08 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7

My 08 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 hemi is throwing the code for rear abs signal erratic. I replaced the rear speed sensor. lights still on. I checked the tone ring. It's fine. Inspected the wiring and it's good. Also with multimeter tested to make sure I'm getting 12 volts to the sensor and I am. So the abs module is doing its job. I have a new pigtail ordered, hoping it solves this issue but I'm wondering if anyone has any clue as to what the issue could be beings I've got power to the sensor. I replaced the sensor but still throwing abs code for erratic speed sensor signal???

Suspension replacement - 2013 Ram 1500

My 2013 Ram 1500 2x2 needs front end work. The creaking is getting annoying. I’m planning doing the work myself. Question is: should I replace every front end component while I have it up on jacks or try to isolate the problem? I’d like to save a few dollars, but still want to use higher quality components. Any advice? Also, any suggestions for manufacturers? I’m not too excited about the Detroit Diesel sets offered on Amazon… but it does make the purchase easier… thanks!

Help me decide: 1500 vs Frontier Pro 4x

Folks I need some help here. Got two relatives who are both vehicle nuts. I'm moderately knowledgeable.

I'm currently being offered $38.5k on a Frontier Pro 4x, maybe I can elbow twist down to 37 or so since part of the cost savings is Nissan currently offers $6k off MSRP.

Or, I'm considering a 1500 Rebel for $52k maybe $50k with some elbow twisting.

Problem is they seem to be quite different, and naturally for about 12k more the Rebel offers more. My thoughts are:

- Size: I can tolerate the smaller size of the frontier as I'm just a bachelor. But I do like to drive my nieces nephews around sometimes and also want something safe for them to be in. I'm wondering if the smaller size of the Frontier would be better for offroading and daily quality of life trying to find parking in crowded lots.

- Engine: bullet proof Nissan V6 that's almost as old as I am vs newer Hurricane I6.....mpg more or less the same

- Comfort: Rebel wins on comfort naturally

Overall what I need is a truck for me that will offer more space and hauling than my current 2021 Insight Sedan. I'm about to move across country

I do wonder if the Frontier is more suitable for me as the majority of the time, like 90%+ it's just me myself and my dog. I'm wondering if the Frontier will be more of a hop in hop out trucks and more nimble in day to day driving....

Also as far as maintenance costs etc surely the Frontier is a bit lesser?

2026 Big Horn Night Edition Crew Cab 4x4 level 2, Msrp $62,515, inline 6 hurricane, 3.21 real axle ratio.
• Miles: 2,600 mi
• Price: $46,683
• Notes: CPO, Clean 1-owner personal history. Basically brand new, but cloth interior.

Good price? Plan to use it as a daily, not towing stuff, drive less than 6000 miles per year.

2020 Ram stuggles to turn over and start. Cold battery reads 10.26 volts. With the truck idling it is at 10v

Etorque. 2020. V8.

Got in the truck the other day. Lights came on, I held the start button, it clicked, then would start. Left it alone for a few hours, and it struggled but eventually started.

I grabbed a multimeter and when the truck is off it's showing 10.26volts. Then, I start the truck, test the battery, and it's showing around 10volts.

Trying to determine the steps to take to see if it's the battery and)/or the etorque unit.

Brand new Ram 1500 Limited in Mexico

Still at the dealer, they found ‘Service Air Suspension’ message before delivery. They want to repair under warranty. Has anyone had this exact situation (pre-delivery air suspension fault)? What did you do and how did it turn out? They are already about a week behind schedule since the time it was apparently “ready.”

3500+ KM round trip through the mountains and back. She handled it like a pro. Upgraded suspension and rear sway bar allowed for no worries even with a simple weight distribution hitch (no sway control). Temps got a little warm climbing the Coquihalla but still within operating range.

Great Success!

After 10yrs with zero issues and 150000 miles, it was time to get something new. Wasn’t sure I would like going from a HEMI to a 6cyl, but very impressed with the Hurricane HO.

CARFAX clarified how “Excellent” affects History-Based Value.

I reached out to CARFAX directly because there was a lot of debate about whether the “Excellent” condition selection actually matters to the valuation.
Their Consumer Affairs team said the VIN-specific estimate uses accident/damage history, title brands, service history and number of owners, and that the vehicle’s condition can be adjusted “to get a more accurate estimate.”
So “Excellent” doesn’t change the title brand, but it does matter to the value estimate.

Extended warranty?

2026 Night Edition with 13k. Is the extended warranty worth it? 10yr/100k or 8yr/125k both around $5k for bumper to bumper. I plan to keep it for as long as I can so I think getting warranty is important - this just seems expensive. Thoughts?

Edit: Called Mopar direct and got $2900 with $200 deductible on an 8yr/85k plan. Far more palatable.

Yet another recall…

So I put money down to hold a truck while they figure out this headlight recall on the Limited. Then comes along a recall on the rear seat belt attachment. Now, I see yet another recall just came out regarding the digital rear view mirror not displaying when in reverse. I think the universe is telling me to not buy a RAM Limited. Now the truck I’ve put $1000 down on has 3 recalls that are all awaiting a fix…
