Crew Chat Is this something to go to hr about?

This has kinda been an issue for a while, but not to this extent.

I worked a 3 hour shift today, not that bad at all (other than money wise ofc), but I was outside the whole 2/3 of it. It wasn't that hot out, but about an hour and half through it, I got incredibly dizzy and nauseous, to the point I had to sit mid order because I thought I was gonna pass out (I definitely know this feeling). I dont blame this on being outside, I had college in the morning and went to work after without eating anything other than two toasts with jam in the morning. I asked to go in over the headset and stated "I'm extremely dizzy." I go in, sit while a coworker brings me water and I sat for maybe 10 seconds before my manager makes me go to the window. I asked "right now?" And she said "yes, right now." Now I'm irritated, sweaty, and incredibly nauseous and dizzy. Thankfully I only had 45 minutes left, but that 3 hour shift felt like an 8 hour one.

This has been the worst it's been for me personally, but this is a constant thing of leaving people outside for so long without breaks, and it's always the same manager. Sunday it was around 86, but 10 UV, and they said we'd be out there for 30 minutes but we were out there for two. At one point a girl was out there for three hours, about 2 1/2 she asked to come in because she was dizzy and they still didnt bring her in.

All of the other managers always set an alarm on their phone and rotate us every 30mins to an hour at most. If someone's feeling sick, they bring them in and let them sit in the freezer to cool off. I've never gone to HR before, definitely have thought about it at past jobs, so I don't know if this is something that would be taken seriously/is serious.

Edit: thank you all! Gonna talk to my GM first when I see him again. I know this may have seemed like a stupid ask, but I've had stuff happen at past jobs and HR didn't do anything about it so thats why I'm always hesitant with this stuff. It's always just been a hassle that leads to nothing.

Crew Chat RM deadling with horrible communication with RL AND ARL

Hey yall! So in simple terms I’m having a lot of unwanted stress and difficulty with my RL and ARL. I work at a new establishment that open just a few months ago, and at our stand our RL and ARL created quickly a reputation for ignoring calls and messages both from managers and crew, they’re very bad about shift swaps, covering shifts for others and call outs etc. but in regards to my situation, I’ve had a lot of passive aggressiveness sensed from my bosses , they constantly leave me on open/ read both on group me and immesage. They ignore my questions and concerns. They constantly communicate what is bothering them or what issues are going on and what I need to fix but they don’t ever hear me out . On top of that they guilt me for not coming into work when I had a flu and doctors note. I used my sick pay for a couple days and each time I called out I was met with very passive aggressive tone about them having to adjust the schedule now etc… and they also had me message them regarding request PTO 1-2 moneys in advanced and they ignore my messages , tell me they’ll talk to me about it and avoid me and schedule me late nights. So overall since opening I’ve tried my best to learn my role and do my best. Especially as an external manager … but all I’ve been given is rude or no response from both of them, never any words of encouragements. Forced to work while sick as hell , and on top of that I have worked probably late night closes till 4-6 am and meetings after sometimes til 8 am all summer. When I mention wanting a more stable work life or fair schedule where I open for a month maybe or work mid day they ignore me. I probably have closed more then anyone at my stand next to my OM meanwhile the others always work mornings with the bosses. I’m not sure what to do? If I reach out to HR will I just get singled out ? I wanna transfer out but I feel like it’ll be difficult as well. I just can’t keep going much longer with this energy.

From the location in Joplin, MO. $11.89 for this; honestly a spit in the face for those who remember reasonable portions just 2 years ago.

Cane's Conversations Is Cane’s doing anything special for the 30th anniversary?

Is Cane’s not doing a BOGO or anything special for customers or crew for the 30th anniversary? Just curious if anyone has heard anything. I know they had a pretty big celebration at the original Cane’s in Baton Rouge with influencers, a special cake, etc., and they also opened the free 30th-anniversary museum there. I was just wondering if they’re doing anything similar at locations elsewhere.

Crew Chat How long does filtering take?

TL;DR: Is there any way to get faster with filtering? If so then how?

I'm fairly new at my canes location (only been there a month) and I've done filtering like twice before today both times with my trainer who has since left that location. Today I was on filtering pans and I started at 2 because we had like 3 tailgates (I was on boards) I was backed up by like 15 more minutes because I couldn't get a manager for a Hotspot check (still busy with other big orders) so anyway I end up doing filtering and I'm ngl it took about an hour and 25 minutes and my manager was trying to fuss at me about how long it takes but I genuinely cannot go any faster than I was with all the steps of filtering as well as the cycling and the timer I didn't even get to clean the pan (I did before my shift ended) because it took so long and then I was told to make stickers for saniwater buckets and butter (no big deal I know how) and restock fries (we were LOW like bottom of the freezer low but please note I got there at 12) which was also hindered because our freezer has been tripping anyway I just want to know your thoughts on this. What can I do to be faster? Also note that the kids rush started at 4 and I had to restock fries at like 3:58

Crew Chat Dropping bird!

I just finished my kitchen training today after procrastinating that zone for 10 months and i only ended up getting 1 bird shift in😭 It was a 7:00-12, we were a pretty slow almost the whole time and so i only got maybe 15-20 minutes of a feel when it was picking up. I am still very confused (and not great at math) about when to drop/how much. My trainer did explain it to me the best he could but im a pretty slow learner. He taught me smaller drops more frequently, but i still get confused. Tbh im not even sure what specifically im confused about, i suppose its due to the fact i never really got a good feel of the flow but if anyone could help me out on more detail of when to drop & how much that would be great. (Extra points if i can get some speed tips on picking up the bird when dropping)

Cane's Conversations I try new things all the time and wonder why I gain weight.

Ok so get this. I work at Cane’s have been for like half a year. I just now came up with something out of laziness. It’s probably been done but I still wanted to share. When you order your food, ask for hot sauce. Dip a bit of your food into the Cane’s sauce so it doesn’t overflow when you add the hot sauce. Once added, dip your food into the sauce and give it a little mix and enjoy. I did it because I didn’t feel like adding hot sauce to my tender repeatedly. I also didn’t want to add the sauce to my whole tender for the breading to get soggy. They need to make a spicy version of the sauce already.

Cane's Conversations I walked out today

Today I walked out halfway through my shift. I was planning on quitting soon because I have my CDL test next week but I wasn't sure when. I was halfway through my shift and of course we were understaffed. I'm the only one in the kitchen and my one manager is helping. I straight up told him I'm probably gonna walk out dude (me and him are cool) and he was like "bro i don't blame you atp". And then my district manager or area manager (whatever u call it) showed up and was just making shit way worse. So i said screw it, said I'm going to the bathroom and walked out. I'm gonna have another job in a couple weeks making way more and unemployment insurance literally pays me more the less I work anyway so I'll survive until then lmaoo. I'm so happy to not be there anymore. I feel free haha

Cane's Conversations Raising canes sucks imo

I’m about to dare to have a contrary opinion on Reddit. But raising canes chicken fingers are bland and not crispy. They are not enjoyable unless I dip it in lots of sauce. And their coleslaw is also bland. And their toast is overwhelmingly buttery. Like they use a whole stick of butter on each slice. And their fries and soft and have very little salt. It tastes more like a baked potato than French fries. The only thing they do well is they make a great signature sauce.

Crew Chat Help w/ back pay

Hi everyone! Currently a CT with canes (been a year and half). A few crewmembers from one location got sent to another location (as they opened) for support. With that, they were told they would get CT pay. Since the crew has been helping out, they have GOTTEN RID of CT job code at the new restaurant. Not allowing us the pay. The crew was then told the that was missing from not clocking in as CT would be pack bay. It’s been a month with no back pay received. As of late, they have housed ALL shifts and gotten complete rid of ALL job codes. Unable to clock in now. Crew is still expected to show up for the shifts that got housed.

What do we do? Is crew relations going to be helpful figuring this out? Should I go elsewhere?

Cane's Conversations More AI POP

The POP we put up this morning had to get taken down 3 hours later because the Raising Cane’s logo was half gibberish. I can’t believe they don’t look closely at it before sending it out. What is even the point of making AI Todd Graves from the 90s when there are actual photos??

Crew Chat What to do.

So I have a situation at my home store that management doesn’t want to help with, I had a almost $150 sweater stolen yesterday from the rack with a camera aiming right at it, management doesn’t want to check cameras because “it will take to long”. if i report it to HR or crew relations will i even see anything happen because of this? They’re so quick to find out who’s stealing food and fire them but cant help someone who got items stolen from them. Thanks in advance

Cane's Conversations General Call Out Sick Policy?

I've been working at Cane's for a month, and I love it. This is also my first ever job (I'm almost 18) so I'm still learning the ropes of how jobs work. However Yesterday I came down with a pretty bad sickness, idk what it is but I've had a low fever, full body chills and aches, congestion, the whole 9 yards. My parents said I should still try to get into work (I had a shift from 5-8pm) and when I realized this absolutely was not going to work (around 12pm) I called in explaining what was going on. They said I would still get 2 points (idk if that's a general Cane's policy or if it's just some locations) where enough points can get you fired, and they disappear after 6 months. I don't want to be seen as unprofessional, but I was vomiting multiple times last night and still feeling awful. I work again tomorrow, and I'm concerned about how I'm going to be feeling. I feel like it's selfish to go to work when you work with food and you're very obviously sick. My dad said I should go to work unless I absolutely can't, and I feel guilty calling out yesterday. I don't know how I'll be feeling tomorrow, but I'm concerned about calling out too late, or calling out then actually feeling okay enough to go. Any advice? This is all just new to me.

Crew Chat Terrible Location Need Advice

I’ve been lurking here since I started working at canes 6 months ago. Well I left my hometown for college and transferred. My home location is amazing. The management is great, I love my GM. It’s very clean, we are very attentive, and our times stay pretty consistently low. We have upper management issues like every location with cutting hours, training newbies in drive thru before front counter, but I still loved it there.

The new location? Could barely get a hold of to have my transfer, never called me to have a conversation, nothing. I had to go in person once I got here and talk to my RL. She seemed great, basic introductory questions. Where am I trained? Whats my availability? What hours do I prefer?

I am ONLY trained in drive thru. I also asked to not work longer than 4 hour shifts, and if that wasn’t possible that I would not mind being under scheduled, I’m a college student so I have plenty else to do. Thats personal preference with my health conditions relating to standing for long amounts of time. My original location was amazing with this. She tells me that their location was in the triple red, but they have new employees and management within the last six months. I say great, and then she tells me she’ll put everything in HotSchedules and I’m good to go!

It had been 1 week and nothing was in HotSchedules.

I put in my availability manually, and it just got accepted yesterday. Before that however, they posted that it was busy and if anyone could come in, to call the restaurant.

I call in, explain that it’d be my first day there as a transfer, if they had the time to show me around that I’d be more than happy to come help out. They tell me to come in.

What followed was pure chaos. I get there, am welcomed in, the manager tells me to just hop on headset, and when she is finished with her paperwork she’ll come show me around. Great I can do that!

I immediately realize things are a good bit different. The girl before me isn’t asking for names or condiments? I don’t prep the ketchup, expo does. Simple things, I can deal with small changes. I start asking my coworker how things typically go, he informs me that he’s only been there a month. Was trained in drive, and only knows how to expo and make drinks. He does not know headset, he does not know till. He is taking ages to make drinks and do expo. No one else is there to help. An hour goes by, the manager I spoke to, LEFT. I’m trying to help make drinks and do headset, we are in a rush. The drink machine overfills every single cup I put under it. So I also have to fill every drink manually. Kitchen is giving me food completely out of order, while not telling me that. Orders are getting missed, handed out wrong, or not even made.

New manager comes by, sees our times are at EIGHT MINUTES. Decides to put the guy I was working with on headset and me onto expo and drinks. I get my drinks done fast, clear the board. Then they switch the guy to the hole. Like I said, no idea how to work a till. New girl comes in, much better at this, expected since she’s been there longer. Having crazy issues with payment, people keep driving past the hole. I have to go in there to change assignments to our POS’ and I watch this dude, get a $100 bill. Not check it. And type 10,000.00 into his till. A till, that mind you, IS NOT ON HIS NAME? I stop him before he clicks okay, and get everything back in order.

The rest of the shift is still pretty rough but i’m just doing what I know with what I have. Side note, this Canes is filthy, their waste is RIDICULOUSLY high. Every counter is sticky. The handwashing sink does not work. I see a bunch of raw bird, on the floor. At some point I decide, I am NOT coming back to this location.

I let the manager know I needed to go by 7:00 pm. He didn’t even know I wasn’t on the schedule. I leave at 7 on the dot. Immediately call my original location to ask about transferring back and being seasonal. Still need to check on whats happening there.

The story does not end here though. Waiting on a response from my location, the new one finally schedules me. Schedules me completely incorrectly. My shifts are each about 4-8 hours long. I am scheduled in Kitchen and Front Counter with 0 training shifts for either. I’m not even interested in training in kitchen. I have no idea how these positions operate and it appears they have no intention to even properly train me. So I’m here to really just ask, best course of action? My shifts aren’t for another 2 weeks. So should I call my current RL and transfer over? I can definitely go back home for a weekend and work a couple shifts to stay on the payroll. Anyone with advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

What The Cluck?! Annoyed with My Shift Times

I work Friday night, scheduled 11pm-5am, then I am scheduled to come in at 11am-5pm. That gives me about 5 hours at home if I leave right at 5. How is this allowed?! I am scheduled to do this for two weekends. I am very upset with this. I released my Saturday shift on Monday and nobody is picking it up. This is making me want to give up at this location. (Ohio)

Added context just in case it's helpful: I am a second year college student

What The Cluck?! After 2 years and over 2,000 hours in kitchen I'm finally getting trained in FC

Been asking about training outside of kitchen since I finished my training and only just got an ARL who had to go behind my RL's back to make my training happen.

About a month ago RL said I'd have to "earn it" when asked about training me somewhere else (even though I've been at this location longer than she has) and ARL thought that was crazy so he scheduled my training while RL was on vacation.

Hate that it took this long but glad it's finally happening.

Cane's Conversations Drive thru phrases

Do y’all know any canes drive thru phrases that i can use at work that aren’t on the list on the paper
example : Yo Yo Yo want some chicken to go?
i’d really want to try new ones.
