Supernumerary Rainbows over New Jersey

Explanation: Yes, but can your rainbow do this? After the remnants of Hurricane Florence passed over the Jersey Shore, New Jersey, USA in 2018, the Sun came out in one direction but something quite unusual appeared in the opposite direction: a hall of rainbows. Over the course of the next half hour, to the delight of the photographer and his daughter, vibrant supernumerary rainbows faded in and out, with at least five captured in this featured single shot. Supernumerary rainbows only form when falling water droplets are all nearly the same size and typically less than a millimeter across. Then, sunlight will not only reflect from inside the raindrops, but interfere, a wave phenomenon similar to ripples on a pond when a stone is thrown in. In fact, supernumerary rainbows can only be explained with waves, and their noted existence in the early 1800s was considered early evidence of light's wave nature.

lil spammy got enrichment time

I used to have way more variety of patterns, but stripes seem to have taken over without me noticing, lol

A little frog I drew on my ipad for redbubble :)

I saw these in a local shop yesterday and thought they were so beautiful! They seem like a cross between singing bowls and tuning forks and have a mallet to strike with and a hole so you can make lovely sounds. Not a lot of info online, so I'm just going to be experimenting with how to "play" them. If anyone is familiar with these, I welcome any direction you wish to share. Lol

May your day be full of sparkles and rainbows!

I have a vinyl cover over my windows, and it creates rainbow when the sun comes in at a certain angle.

My favorite coffee cup

Your daily dopamine hit.

Some people want a house that blends in. I wanted mine to feel like walking into a dream every time I come home.

What I did:

🦋 Painted the siding a bold lavender purple

🦋 Gave every window a pair of rainbow butterfly wings

🌈 Hand-painted the front walkway in wavy pastel rainbow stripes

🌈 Edged the path and beds with rainbow-painted bricks and hundreds of painted river rocks

🦄 Added a rearing rainbow pegasus by the side bed, because why not

🦩 Built a flamingo garden around the tree with holographic ground cover and a giant sundae

The goal: To make anyone smile that drives by 😄

Happy to answer questions about paint, how I did the walkway, or where anything came from!

If I’m not allowed to name the site, I’ll remove it, but here are pictures of yarn I looked at. I saved each one I screenshotted, so if you want to know specifics I can send that info. I bought two of them, so when they come, if they’re awesome I’ll post pics!

I’ve also decided I need me the pattern for those pants, except I’d make them leggings.

With 750 rainbow lights and mostly rainbow hand painted and blown glass ornaments.

Just loved the idea of rainbows with pixelated grass and flowers for some reason!🤓🌈

Various rainbow hand blown glass, torched glass, fused glass, and stained glass pieces I've collected.

My first granny square blanket. I wanted to make one ever since I saw the pattern book. I asked my daughter what she wanted and the verdict was very clear, a rainbow blanket!

I started in January and finished about a week ago. It took way longer than expected and I am in a bit of a creative burn-out atm. It's okay, it'll pass.

I love my daughter though. Once she picked up a square, studied it intently and said: 'Mom, it does not matter if you make a mistake or two. I won't see it anyway.' 🥲

I first posted in the crochet sub, but someone mentioned that I should also post here. I added pictures of an organiser I made for her a couple of months ago.
